Merter (Istanbul Metro)

Line M1, officially referred to as the M1 Yenikapı–Atatürk Airport/Kirazlı metro line (Turkish: M1 Yenikapı–Atatürk Havalimanı/Kirazlı metro hattı), also known as the Istanbul Light Metro (Turkish: Hafif Metro), is a rapid transit line of the Istanbul Metro. Opened in 1989, it was the first rapid transit line in Istanbul and Turkey and its opening started the revival of mass-transit in Turkish cities. The M1 consists of two train services, M1A and M1B. Both services run on the same line from Yenikapı to Otogar, where the M1B branches off to Kirazlı, while the M1A continues on the original line to Istanbul Atatürk Airport. The M1 has 23 stations in service, of which 11 are underground and 3 elevated, and the total length of the line is 26.8 kilometers (16.7 mi). Even though the M1 is fully grade separated, it is considered a light metro line, due to the relatively low passenger capacity compared to other lines of the system. In November 2014, the long-awaited extension from Aksaray to Yenikapı was opened.

Tozkoparan Olympic Swimming Pool (Turkish: Tozkoparan Olimpik Yüzme Havuzu) is an Olympic-size swimming pool in Istanbul, Turkey. The swimming pool is situated in Cevat Açıkalın Cad., Erdemli Sok. 4, at Tozkoparan neighborhood of Güngören district in Istanbul. Owned by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, it was opened in 2012. The operator is the Turkish Swimming Federation.The swimming pool with ten lanes is 50 m (160 ft) long and 2.20 m (7.2 ft) deep. The venue has a seating capacity for 1,034 spectators.The swimming pool is part of a sports complex, which has a 500-seat capacity sports hall for basketball, volleyball and table tennis events.

Zeytinburnu is a rapid transit station on the M1 line of the Istanbul Metro. Even though it is named Zeytinburnu, the station is not located within Zeytinburnu district borders but within Bakırköy district borders close to Zeytinburnu. It was opened on 31 January 1994 as part of the Otogar-Zeytinburnu extension and is one of the five stations of this extension.

Davutpaşa—YTÜ is a rapid transit station on the M1 line of the Istanbul Metro located in southern Esenler, close to the entrance of Yıldız Technical University (Turkish: Yıldız Teknik Üniversitesi) or YTÜ. It was opened on 31 January 1994 as part of the Otogar-Zeytinburnu extension and is one of five stations of this extension.

The Tercüman Building (Tercüman Newspaper Printing and Administration Facilities) is a building in the Zeytinburnu district of Istanbul, Turkey. It was built in 1974 on the State road D.100 by Tercüman newspaper. It is an iconic building that has played an important part in 20th-century Turkish architecture narratives with its unorthodox form. The building has been designed by Günay Çilingiroğlu and Muhlis Tunca, and its static project was designed by Rasin Etiman. The building had different owners throughout the years. In 2023, due to an earthquake risk, it was demolished through the decision of the property owners.

Adile Mermerci Anadolu Lisesi is a public high school located in the city of Zeytinburnu of İstanbul province of Turkey. It is found in 1990. Current education language is Turkish. But as a fact of being an Anatolian High School it heavily focuses teaching in foreign languages of English and German. Education period is 4 years including 1 year of Prep Class. It has 510 students, 41 teachers and 4 executive officers. School contains 20 classrooms, 1 science lab, 1 conference hall, 1 gym and 1 computer laboratory. As stated in the school's web page their mission is; to bring up young people whose intellectual abilities are not limited by OSS (the Matriculation Exam for University); have developed higher reasoning skills; are adept at using technology; know how to access information; have a working knowledge of a second foreign language and sensitive to social events around them.

The Cistern of the Hebdomon (Greek: κινστέρνη τοῦ Ἕβδομου), known in Turkish as Fildamı Sarnıcı ("Cistern of the elephant's stable"), is a Byzantine open sky water reservoir built in the quarter of the Hebdomon (today's Bakirköy), an outskirt of Constantinople.

Olivium Outlet Center, opened on April 1, 2000, is an outlet shopping mall located in the working class district of Zeytinburnu in Istanbul, Turkey. It was established by a joint venture of the companies Emintaş and İleri Mensucat. The shopping center, situated outside of the ancient city walls of Istanbul, initially featured 25 stores, but extended to 118 shops today. Olivium covers area of 45,000 m2 on 4 floors and has a parking lot with a capacity of 1,000 cars in 2 additional floors. The center offers to the visitors also a supermarket, 6 movie theaters, a theater, a bowling alley with 15 lanes, a variety of fast food restaurants and cafeterias.

Davutpaşa Barracks (Turkish: Davutpaşa Kışlası) were Ottoman Army barracks built in the 1800s and located at Davutpaşa neighborhood of Esenler district on the European part of Istanbul, Turkey. The building was used later as a shelter for immigrants during the Balkan Wars and as a military hospital during World War I. Today, it serves as a campus of Yıldız Technical University after its redevelopment.

Balıklı (Greek: Μπαλουκλί, pr. "Baluklí") is a quarter in Istanbul, Turkey. It belongs to the Zeytinburnu district, and is part of the Kazlıçeşme neighborhood. It is located along the Marmara Sea, and borders Istanbul's walled city on the east, between the gates of Yedikule and Silivri. Before the rapid increase of Istanbul's population in the 1970s, Balıklı was a rural quarter. The name of the quarter (balikli in Turkish means "with fish", "place where there are fishes") comes from the fishes present in the fountain of holy water (Greek: ἁγίασμα, hagiasma, whence Turkish: ayazma) situated now in the complex of the Church of St. Mary of the Spring, an important Eastern Orthodox sanctuary. In the Byzantine Period it was known as Pege (Greek: Πηγή, meaning "Spring") per antonomasia, always because of the same source. The quarter is characterized by the presence of several Muslim, Eastern Orthodox and Armenian cemeteries, which until now give to it a country-like character. About one kilometer south of the church of St. Mary an important Greek hospital, the Balikli Rum Hastanesi Vakf (“Balikli Greek Hospital Foundation”) and an Armenian Hospital, the Surp Pırgiç Ermeni Hastanesi are active.

The Monastery of the mother of God at the Spring (full name in Greek: Μονὴ τῆς Θεοτόκου τῆς Πηγῆς, pr. Moni tis Theotóku tis Pigis; Turkish name: Balıklı Meryem Ana Rum Manastiri) or simply Zoödochos Pege (Greek: Ζωοδόχος Πηγή, "Life-giving Spring") is an Eastern Orthodox sanctuary in Istanbul, Turkey. The present church, built in 1835, bears the same dedication as the shrine erected in this place between the end of the fifth and the beginning of the sixth century. After several renovations, this building was destroyed in the first half of the fifteenth century by the Ottomans. The complex got its name from a nearby holy spring, reputed to have healing properties. For almost fifteen hundred years, this sanctuary has been one of the most important pilgrimage sites of Greek Orthodoxy.
