Millis station

The Millis Center Historic District is an historic district on Curve, Daniels, Exchange, Irving, Lavender, Main, and Union Streets in Millis, Massachusetts. It encompasses the historic mid-to-late-19th century village center of the town, including the residential area north of Main Street, two 19th-century industrial complexes, and civic and institutional buildings. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2007.

Millis is a town in Norfolk County in the U.S. state of Massachusetts. It had a population of 8,460 at the 2020 census. The town is approximately 19 miles (31 km) southwest of downtown Boston and is bordered by Norfolk, Sherborn, Holliston, Medfield, and Medway. Massachusetts state routes 109 and 115 run through Millis.

Millis-Clicquot is a census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Millis in Norfolk County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 4,403 at the 2010 census. The name "Clicquot" comes from the now-defunct Clicquot Club Company, a beverage manufacturer that was founded in the area in 1881.

Millis High School is a public high school in Millis, Massachusetts, United States. The school building consists of both the middle school and high school (grades 6–12).

Prospect Hill Cemetery is a historic cemetery on Auburn Road in Millis, Massachusetts. Founded in 1714, it is the town's only cemetery. Covering more than 18 acres (7.3 ha), it has more than 2,800 burials. Among those buried in the cemetery are politician Christian Herter, who served as U.S. Secretary of State and Governor of Massachusetts, and two Medal of Honor recipients, Charles Church Roberts and William D. Newland. The cemetery was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2006 with the help of a short documentary film by a Millis High School Freshman Dustin Fresh.

The John Partridge House is a historic house in Millis, Massachusetts. It is a 2+1⁄2-story wood-frame house, five bays wide, with a side-gable roof, large central chimney, a front entry with Greek Revival surround. It was built in the second half of the 17th century (the exact date being disputed), and is among the oldest buildings in the town. John Partridge, Sr. or his son John, Jr. was its likely builder, the former having been granted the land in 1659.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.

Oak Grove Farm is a historic First Period farmstead in Millis, Massachusetts. The 2+1⁄2-story wood-frame farmhouse was probably built in three phases, the first of which was in the early 18th century. Around this time, the left five bays of the house were built, as was a central chimney. In the second quarter of the 19th century, three bays were added to the right, giving the building its current asymmetrical eight-bay facade. Finally, in 1884 a series of modifications and additions were made. The central chimney was removed, a leanto section was added to the rear of the house, and the front porch was added. A second porch was also built onto the rear ell around this time.The land on which the farmhouse stands has been farmed by English settlers since at least 1677, when Josiah Rockwood (also sometimes referred to as "Rockett") owned the property. Although maps show a house at the site in 1713, there is no other documentary evidence of the house until 1783, when a deed transferring the farm, with house, was recorded. For much of the 19th century the farm was owned by the Lovell family; it was purchased by Lansing Millis (the namesake of the town) in 1879. Millis, a railroad executive, established a dairy farm on the property, and gave it the name "Oak Grove Farm". His family used the property as a summer residence until 1883, after which he converted the house into a boarding house for the farm workers. By 1893 (after Millis' death) the farm was reported to be the largest dairy farm in New England.In the 20th century the property changed hands a few times, but remained in use as a dairy farm. In 1984, with a sale planned to a developer, the town purchased the property as one of the last open spaces near the town center. The farmland has been converted for use as recreational facilities, and the house has been restored and is managed by the town as a rental property.The farm was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2011.

The Ellice School is a historic two-room schoolhouse at 185 Pleasant Street in Millis, Massachusetts. The single story wood frame Greek Revival building was constructed c. 1849, when Millis was still part of Medway. It is sheathed in wood shingles, with wood trim, including corner pilasters. Its gable roof is clad in asphalt shingles. The building served as a public school until 1931. It was used during the Great Depression and the Second World War for community activities, but has stood vacant since then. It is the only remaining district school building in Millis.The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2010.

Cedariver, formerly known as The Baker Reservation, is a 55-acre (22 ha) open space preserve located on the Charles River in Millis, Massachusetts. The property, acquired in 2004 by the land conservation non-profit organization The Trustees of Reservations, includes farm fields, woodlots, and 1-mile (1.6 km) of river frontage.Cedariver is open to hiking, picnicking, car-top boating, cross country skiing, and other passive pursuits. A trailhead is located on Forest Road in Millis. The property was a 2004 gift of the family of Polly Baker.

Bridge Island Meadows is an 80-acre (320,000 m2) nature reserve owned by The Trustees of Reservations on the floodplains of the upper Charles River in Millis, Massachusetts. The property was a 1974 gift from Dr. and Mrs. John D. Constable to the Trustees of Reservations. The property is surrounded by wetlands, and is only accessible by boat.

Medfield Meadow Lots are a group of wetland meadows—Pratt Meadow, Perry Meadow, and Hinsdale Meadow—located in the Charles River floodplain within Medfield, Massachusetts, United States. The lots, totaling 16 acres (6.5 ha), are accessible by canoe or kayak only. They were acquired as an open space reserve via land donation by Henry Lee Shattuck in 1968. The Medfield Meadow Lots are part of a cooperative effort of non-profit organizations and public agencies to protect the natural and ecological character of the Charles River. Including the meadow lots, The Trustees of Reservations has protected over 4,000 acres (1,600 ha) of land on the Charles River floodplain.

The Bullard Memorial Farm is a historic farm located at 7 Bullard Lane in Holliston, Massachusetts. It was first settled by Benjamin Bullard in approximately 1652. The land was purchased from local Native Americans. Bullards farmed the land until 1916, when John Anson Bullard bequeathed it to the Bullard Memorial Farm Association (“BMFA”), which had been created in 1909. The main house was built in 1777 and enlarged in 1794; the property has a number of outbuildings, including a barn, a vinegar building, a cider building, a blacksmith shop, a library, a locker building, a small shed/horse barn, and a cottage. The farm includes 100 acres (40 ha) under a forestry and agricultural designation and another 50 acres (20 ha) are undeveloped pasture." The farm was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1995.
