Independence Memorial Museum

Independence Memorial Hall (also known as Independence Commemoration Hall) is a national monument in Sri Lanka built for commemoration of the independence of Sri Lanka from the British rule with the restoration of full governing responsibility to a Ceylonese-elected legislature on 4 February 1948. It is located in Independence Square (formerly Torrington Square) in the Cinnamon Gardens, Colombo. It also houses the Independence Memorial Museum. The monument was built at the location where the formal ceremony marking the start of self-rule, with the opening of the first parliament by Prince Henry, Duke of Gloucester occurred at a special podium on 4 February 1948. Located at the head of the monument is the statue of the first prime minister of the country Rt. Hon. Don Stephen Senanayake "The Father of the Nation". Most of the annual National Independence Day celebrations have been held here. Apart from a monument it served as the ceremonial assembly hall for the Senate of Ceylon and the House of Representatives of Ceylon until the parliament was moved to the new parliament complex. Currently it is the venue for religious events and annual national day celebrations.

Sri Lanka Cricket Museum is located at Maitland Place, Colombo, Sri Lanka, at the former Asian Cricket Council headquarters, adjacent to the headquarters of Sri Lanka Cricket.It was officially opened by Minister of Sports Harin Fernando on 20 February 2019 and is operated by Sri Lanka Cricket. The Sri Lanka Cricket Museum covers the history of cricket in the country. The museum documents the country's journey towards becoming a test nation and its achievements made during the pre and post test era. It includes a 'Hall of Fame', as well as significant cricketing ‘moments’ and ‘turning points’ in Sri Lanka's cricketing history. The gallery contains 1996 World Cup trophy, 2014 T20 World Cup trophy.

The Arcade Independence Square is a shopping complex in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Housed in a group of renovated buildings including the former Jawatta Lunatic Asylum and the former Western Provincial Council Building, it was built as a part of the Independence Square Redevelopment programme initiated by the national government.

Nondescripts Cricket Club Ground, a first-class cricket ground in Maitland Place, Colombo, is the home ground of the Nondescripts Cricket Club.

The Sinhalese Sports Club Cricket Ground (SSC Cricket Ground) (Sinhala: සිංහල ක්‍රිඩා සමාජ ක්‍රීඩාංගනය; Tamil: சிங்களவர் விளையாட்டுக் கழக அரங்கம்) is one of the most famous cricket grounds in Sri Lanka, and the headquarters of Sri Lanka Cricket, the controlling body of cricket in Sri Lanka. The ground is sometimes described as "the Lord's of Sri Lanka", It hosts the most domestic finals and is an important international cricket venue. The ground staged its first Test in 1984 against New Zealand and its first One Day International in 1982 against England. The Sri Lankan team has an impressive record here. Out of 38 Tests played at the SSC as of January 2015, Sri Lanka has won 18 matches, and drawn 14, with only 6 losses.

The Department of National Archives (Sinhala: ජාතික ලේඛනාරක්ෂණ දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව jāthika lēkhanārakshana depārthamēnthuwa) is a government department in Sri Lanka which is the repository of the non-current records of the Government of Sri Lanka. The headquarters of the National Archives is situated along Reid Avenue in close proximity to Independence square, Colombo and has a branch office in Kandy.

The National Film Corporation of Sri Lanka (NFC) (Sinhala: ශ්‍රී ලංකා ජාතික චිත්‍රපට සංස්ථාව) is a state-owned entity established to regulate, promote, and develop the film industry in Sri Lanka. Founded under the National Film Corporation of Sri Lanka Act No. 47 of 1971 and amended by Act No. 45 of 1980, the NFC serves as the primary authority for overseeing film production, distribution, and exhibition in the country. Headquartered in Colombo, the corporation plays a pivotal role in fostering the growth of Sri Lankan cinema, managing foreign film productions, and supporting local filmmakers.

The National Institute of Business Management (Sinhala: ජාතික ව්‍යාපාර කළමනාකරණ ආයතනය, romanized: jātika vyāpāra kaḷamanākaraṇa āyatanaya) also known as NIBM, is a public business school based in Colombo, Sri Lanka.The institute was established in 1968 and offers Graduate, Post Graduate, Executive Education, Diploma and Certificate programmes in the fields of Information Technology, Business Management, Languages, Engineering, and Design. The MBA programme is the flagship programme of the institute and is offered in two year full time. NIBM has collaborated with Coventry University, UK and Limkokwing University, Malaysia in offering degree programmes. The main campus is located in Colombo 07 and the four regional campuses are located in Galle, Kandy, Kurunegala, and Matara. The National Innovation Centre (NIC) that houses programmes in Design, Humanities, and Data Sciences is located in Kirulapone, Colombo.The National Institute of Business Management is headed by V. K. Choksy as Chairman and Dr. D. M. A. Kulasooriya as Director General.

Royal College Sports Complex is the rugby union grounds of Royal College Colombo, it was formerly known as the Royal College Rugby Grounds. It is home to multi-use stadium and sports complex. Built in 2000, with funds from the Royal College Union (RCU), current students and parents; it is managed by a Board of Management appointed by the RCU.

Bloomfield Cricket and Athletic Club Ground, in Colombo, Sri Lanka, has staged first-class and List A cricket matches since 1991. It is the home ground of the Bloomfield Cricket and Athletic Club cricket team.

Cinnamon Gardens (Sinhala: කුරුඳු වත්ත Kurundu Vaththa, Tamil: கறுவாத் தோட்டம்) is an affluent neighbourhood in Colombo, Sri Lanka located 3 kilometers south-east from Colombo's centre. Cinnamon Gardens is named from the former cinnamon plantation in this area. In the year 1789, there were 289 acres (1.17 km2) of cinnamon trees in the gardens. At present, Cinnamon Gardens is the location of the Prime Minister's Office, Independence Hall, Colombo Town Hall and National Museum as well as numerous foreign embassies and high commissions, located down streets lined with fine trees and mansions that are home to the country's elite.It is also the location of the Colombo Department of Meteorology and its observatory.
