Temples Historic District

The Steward–Emery House is a historic house in North Anson, Maine. It is a handsome Italianate house, built c. 1870 with Colonial Revival alterations early in the 20th century. The house is most notable for the large amount of high-quality trompe-l'œil artwork on its walls, which is among the finest known domestic examples in the state. The property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1992, and was delisted in 2023.

The Anson Grange No. 88 is a historic commercial building and Grange hall at 10 Elm Street in North Anson, Maine. With a construction history dating to 1849, it is North Anson's oldest commercial building, and the only one to survive a pair of fires that devastated the community in 1863 and 1913. Since 1906 it has served the local Grange chapter, and the community in general as a social venue. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.

The Carrabasset Inn is a historic house at the northwest corner of the junction of Union Street (Maine State Route 234) and River Road (Maine State Route 8/U.S. Route 201A) in North Anson, Maine. Built as a private residence c. 1850, the house was altered significantly for use as a hotel after a fire devastated North Anson's business district, and served in that role as the village's only hotel into the 1940s. It now exhibits an architecturally distinctive blend of Greek Revival, Colonial Revival, and Craftsman styling. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000. It is now a private residence.

North Anson is a village in the northeastern part of the town of Anson, Somerset County, Maine, United States.

The Carrabassett River, a tributary of the Kennebec River, is located in Franklin County and Somerset County, Maine, in the United States. It rises near Sugarloaf Mountain, east of Rangeley Lake, and runs for 33.8 miles (54.4 km), flowing southeast past Kingfield and joining the Kennebec River in the town of Anson.

The Bailey Farm Windmill is an historic windmill on Maine State Route 16, north of the village of North Anson, Maine. Built in 1905, it is an architecturally distinctive local landmark, with an octagonal frame and a copper-domed roof. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.

The Weston Homestead is a historic house on Weston Road in Madison, Maine, United States. Built in 1817, it is remarkably fine and well-preserved example of Federal period architecture. The many generations of Westons who have owned have a history of civic involvement in the community. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977.

Anson is a census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Anson in Somerset County, Maine, United States. The population was 818 at the 2000 census.

Madison (formerly Norridgewock) is a town in Somerset County, Maine, United States. The population was 4,726 at the 2020 census.

Maine School Administrative District 59 (MSAD 59) is an operating school district within Somerset County, Maine, covering the town of Madison.Starks pulled out after the 2011–12 school year they are now with Regional School Unit 9 Mt Blue Regional School District in Farmington, and Athens and Brighton Plantion pulled out after the 2012–13 school year they are now part of AOS 94 District located in the Dexter, Maine area. Madison (SAD 59) is currently proposing a Consolidation with SAD 74 in neighboring Anson, and SAD 53 located in the Pittsfield, Maine area. SAD 59 has proposed consolidations with both districts in different proposals voters rejected both. SAD 59 is also in the process of consolidating its school sports programs (Middle/Jr. High and High School) with SAD 74 and SAD 13 in the Bingham Area to save money, fuel and travel costs. Athens voted to leave District 59 in May 2013.

The Madison Public Library is located at 12 Old Point Avenue in Madison, Maine. Built with funding support from Andrew Carnegie, it is one of the architecturally most unusual libraries in the state, with a distinctive octagonal tower and non-rectangular angled elements. It was designed by the local firm of Snow and Humphreys and completed in 1906. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.
