Buckhaven is a town on the east coast of Fife, Scotland, on the Firth of Forth between East Wemyss and Methil. Buckhaven is on the Fife Coastal Path, and near to Wemyss Caves and Largo Bay.

Buckhaven High School was a six-year co-educational non-denominational comprehensive school in Buckhaven, Fife, Scotland. In the past, Buckhaven was Levenmouth's high school for pupils who passed their qualifying exam. The school's motto was Perseverando. The school's origins dated back to the 1860s and for many years it occupied a site in College Street, Buckhaven. The most recent building was in use from 1957 until 2016, and in 1976 an extension was completed. The catchments for the school were Buckhaven Primary, Methilhill Primary, East Wemyss Primary, Coaltown of Wemyss Primary, Parkhill Primary, Kirkton of Largo Primary and Kennoway Primary. They also received pupils from out with the catchments who submitted placing requests.

Buckhaven railway station served the town of Buckhaven, Fife, Scotland, from 1881 to 1964 on the Wemyss and Buckhaven Railway.

Methil (Scottish Gaelic: Meadhchill) is an eastern coastal town in Scotland. It was first recorded as "Methkil" in 1207, and belonged to the Bishop of St Andrews. Two Bronze Age cemeteries have been discovered which date the settlement as over 8,000 years old. Famous for its High Street that used to have the most pubs per mile in Scotland, it was part of its own barony in 1614 and also part of the former burgh of Buckhaven and Methil. This burgh existed between 1891 and 1975 (following the reorganisation of local government). It is situated within a continuous urban area described as Levenmouth. Methil lies geographically between Largo Bay to the east and Wemyss Bay to the west. Previously an industrial maritime powerhouse of the region and once Scotland's greatest coal port, it is now redirecting itself towards a green energy future. The River Leven delineates Methil from adjacent towns.

Kirkland High School (formerly known as Kirkland High School and Community College and Kirkland Junior High School) was a six-year comprehensive school in Methil that served the population in the Levenmouth area, Scotland. From January 2005 until June 2016 the head teacher was Ronnie Ross. In June 2012 Fife Council proposed that the school should merge with neighbouring Buckhaven High School to create Levenmouth Academy. The plans were approved in April 2014 and the new school opened to pupils on 17 August 2016. In September 2015 the student roll was 421, less than half of the roll of 900 the school had in 2000.

Methil railway station served the village of Methil, Fife, Scotland, from 1887 to 1955 on the Leven Extension Railway.

Bayview Park was a football stadium in the town of Methil, Fife, Scotland. It was the home ground of East Fife F.C. from their formation in 1903 until they moved to the new Bayview Stadium in 1998.

Fife Heritage Railway is a heritage railway run by The Kingdom of Fife Railway Preservation Society, formed in 1992, which aims to showcase the heritage of the railways of Fife and restore locomotives and rolling stock that once worked in Fife. They are based in Levenmouth, Scotland which has been their base since 2003.

Cameron Bridge railway station served the village of Cameron Bridge, Fife, Scotland from 1854 to the 1990s on the Fife Coast Railway. The line and station are scheduled to be reopened by 2024 as part of the Levenmouth rail link, a £70 million project funded by the Scottish Government. The reopened station will be situated to the east of the original station and will have two platforms.

The Methil Docks are situated in Methil, Fife, Scotland, on the northern shores of the Firth of Forth. Historically, the docks served as a port for the transport of coal cargoes. However, since the decline of the mining industry of Fife, the port now specialises as a wood pulp and timber distribution centre.

Cameron Hospital is a health facility in Cameron Road, Windygates, Fife, Scotland. It is managed by NHS Fife. The original building, known as Haig House, is a Category B listed building.

Windygates is a small village and surrounding district in central Fife, Scotland. The district encompasses the following villages, farms and estates; Wellsgreen Farm, Little Lun Farm, Woodbank Farm, The Maw (a former mining community on the Standing Stane Road), Cameron Farm, Isabella (an abandoned mine), Smithyhill, Cameron Bridge, Bridgend, Durie Estate, Duniface Farm, Haughmill (a former weaving community), Drumcaldie, The Meetings (confluence of rivers Leven and Ore), Bankhead of Balcurvie Farm, Fernhill, Fernbank (both former farms), Balcurvie village (a former weaving community), Little Balcurvie (now known as the small holdings), Hawthorn Bank, Kennowayburns and Windygates village itself. Housing demands of the 20th century brought all of these, almost forgotten identities, together into a district now commonly known as Windygates. Windygates is off the A911, west of its sister village Milton of Balgonie, north of Kirkcaldy on the A915 and south of Kennoway on the A916. The Windygates Hotel at the village cross was originally a coaching inn, and there were toll gates at the cross until the late 19th century, when the village grew to accommodate the nearby Cameron Bridge distillery.
