The Bürgenstock is a mountain in Switzerland with an elevation of 1,115 m (3,658 ft) above sea level. The mountain is almost entirely surrounded by Lake Lucerne. The Bürgenstock has been a popular holiday and conference destination since the 19th century, hosting several hotels. Both a road and a railway, the Bürgenstock Funicular, lead up the mountain's slopes to the resort, from where the lookout on the summit can be reached by Europe's highest exterior elevator, the Hammetschwand Lift.

The Bürgenstock Funicular (German: Bürgenstock-Bahn; BB) is a funicular railway in the canton of Nidwalden, Switzerland. The line links the landing stage at Kehrsiten-Bürgenstock, served by the regular passenger boats of the Schifffahrtsgesellschaft des Vierwaldstättersees, with the Bürgenstock resort and its famous hotels.The funicular was opened in 1888 and was originally had an Abt rack braking rail. The funicular is electric and automatic, but until the closure in 2011 it still used the original cabins. The line has been suspended since November 2011 whilst work is undertaken to create a new luxury resort financed by a Qatar finance group at its upper station, and was reopened on 28 August 2017.It got bad press even before its reopening due to its exorbitant fare prices which are high, even for Swiss standards. The resort management announced a fare of CHF 50 for a roundtrip.The line has the following parameters:

The Bürgenstock Resort (also Bürgenstock Resort Lake Lucerne) is a Swiss hotel and tourism complex situated above Lake Lucerne in Canton Nidwalden. The resort is located on the Bürgenberg and comprises a total of 30 buildings, including four hotels and a number of sports facilities. It is the largest integrated hotel resort in Switzerland. The complex is built above ridge offering north-facing views of the lake 450 metres below. Linking resort and lake is the Bürgenstock railway. Views to the south encompass mountains and scattered settlements on their flanks. The resort is of cultural and historical significance.

Pilatus Aircraft Ltd. is an aerospace manufacturer located in Stans, Switzerland. In June 2016, the company employed 1,905 people.The company has mostly produced aircraft for niche markets, in particular short takeoff and landing (STOL) aircraft as well as military training aircraft. During the 1950s and 1960s, Pilatus developed a short takeoff and landing (STOL) light civil transport aircraft, the PC-6 Porter. In 1973, it was decided to restart work on a turbine version of the piston engine trainer P-3, which entered production as the PC-7 Turbo Trainer. In 1979, Pilatus acquired Britten-Norman, manufacturer of the Britten-Norman Islander and Britten-Norman Defender aircraft. During the 1980s, it developed the PC-9, an improved derivative of the PC-7. During the 1990s, Pilatus opened up a broader civilian market with the introduction of the PC-12, a single-engine turboprop aircraft and has delivered 1,800 as of April 2021. In the 2000s, it also introduced a new member family of its military training aircraft, the turboprop-powered PC-21. During the 2010s, the company developed the PC-24, a twin-engined STOL jet aircraft capable of operating from unpaved runways.

Villa Senar is an estate built in Switzerland by the Russian composer Sergei Rachmaninoff. He purchased the plot of land near Hertenstein on the shores of Lake Lucerne in 1932. The name of the estate originated from the names of Rachmaninoff and his wife: Sergei and Natalia, by combining the first two letters of each given name and the first of their surname.The villa was designed to remind Rachmaninoff of the estate of Ivanovka the family had in southern Russia before the October Revolution and their migration to Western Europe in 1918. A park and a magnificent rose garden were laid at Senar. The Rachmaninoffs spent every summer at Senar until their final migration to the United States in 1939 at the outbreak of World War II. Two of Rachmaninoff's major compositions were written at Senar: Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini completed in 1934 and the Third symphony completed in 1936. The villa hosted famous Russian immigrants, including Ivan Bunin and Vladimir Horowitz. Rachmaninoff left Senar for the last time on 16 August 1939, going to Paris and preparing to move to New York City. In 2013, it was reported that Russia was interested in purchasing the Villa and preserve it in memory of Rachmaninoff.After the death of Rachmaninoff, the villa stayed in possession of the family. His grand child Alexandre Rachmaninoff Conus established the Rachmaninoff foundation. After the death of Rachmaninoff Conus, his will mentioned Lucerne as a possible inheritor, but it was not worded properly enough. In order to prevent a possible legal case between Lucerne and his descendants the Canton Lucerne bought the estate in 2022 and on the 1 April 2023, the 150th birthday of Rachmaninoff, the Villa was made accessible to the public.

The Engelberger Aa (or Engelbergeraa) is a river in Switzerland. It rises west of the Surenenpass in the Canton of Uri, flows through the valley of Engelberg (Obwalden) and Nidwalden. At Buochs it flows into Lake Lucerne and is therefore a tributary of the Reuss, which drains the lake.

Neuhabsburg Castle (German: Schloss Neuhabsburg) is a privately owned castle located in Meggen, Lucerne, Switzerland, built on the ruins of a much older castle. In 1244 the income from the land was granted to the Fraumünster Abbey in Zurich. In 1244/5 the original castle was built by the Habsburg family on the shore of Lake Lucerne. The castle may have been built to replace the old Meggenhorn fort. While it may have been the summer home of Rudolph I it mostly served as the administration building for a small Habsburg department that covered Weggis, Lipperswil, Küssnacht, Immensee, Kehrsiten, Greppen, Udligenswil, Arth and Holzhäusern. The castle was damaged in 1245 following the excommunication of Frederick II by Pope Innocent IV at the Council of Lyon. Following the creation of the Old Swiss Confederacy in 1291, the castle was an obstacle to the new Confederation. However, it was not destroyed until 1352, after Lucerne had joined the original Forest Cantons.Of the original castle only portions of the square main tower, a thick ring wall and several other buildings remain.The current castle was built in 1871 in a Gothic Revival style and remains privately owned.

Weggis landing stage is a ferry port in the municipality of Weggis, in the Swiss canton of Lucerne. It is located on a projection of the Rigi mountain that protrudes into the northern part of Lake Lucerne. It is served by the Lake Lucerne Navigation Company.
