Cantigny Golf Club

Cantigny (pronounced kan-TEE-nee) is a 500-acre (2.0 km2) park in Wheaton, Illinois, 30 miles west of Chicago. It is the former estate of Joseph Medill and his grandson Colonel Robert R. McCormick, publishers of the Chicago Tribune, and is open to the public. Cantigny comprises expansive formal and informal gardens, a Georgian-style brick historic house, a military museum, visitor center with cafe, picnic grove with pavilion, outdoor playground, hiking paths and a 27-hole golf course with driving range, pro-shop and restaurant.

Wheaton Warrenville South High School (WWSHS), locally referred to as "South", is a public four-year high school in Wheaton, Illinois. It is one of two high schools part of Community Unit School District 200, the other being Wheaton North High School. The school has had a long history, during which it has had four names, and is considered the successor to a school with a similar name. The school is known for its academic and athletic accomplishments, its alumni include astronomer Edwin Hubble, football player Red Grange, comedian John Belushi and actor Jim Belushi.

St. Francis High School, also known as St. Francis or SFHS among its students and faculty, is a co-educational, Catholic college-preparatory school, located in Wheaton, Illinois and was founded in 1957, by the Christian Brothers, Franciscan Sisters, and Ladies of Loretto (Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary). It is currently operated by an independent Board of Directors. St. Francis strives to prepare its students for college, and thus sets high academic standards. The school has an enrollment of 731 students, as of 2018.

The Samuel and Eleanor Himmelfarb Home and Studio is a modernist, Usonian-style studio designed by Russian-born American designer Sam Himmelfarb, which was built in 1942 in a wooded area of Winfield, Illinois, and listed on the National Register of Historic Places on October 4, 2018. Along with his wife Eleanor's input, Himmelfarb drew on modernist influences, such as the Bauhaus, and two Frank Lloyd Wright homes in Madison, Wisconsin: the First Jacobs House (1937) and the John Pew House (1938–40). These influences are reflected in the structure's exposed building materials, simple geometry, and lack of ornament, as well as its horizontal lines, straight-forward schematics, floor-to-ceiling glazed walls, and placement on an undulating natural lot. Himmelfarb modified Wright's L-shape footprint design for the Jacobs House, adding a studio wing set at an oblique angle to the rest of the home to create a Y-shape. The property's rolling terrain requires the one-story building to cantilever over the hillside on two ends, supported by stone piers and steel beams. He and Eleanor planned for window walls that incorporate views of the forest landscape beyond the property line. The home's interior features a fireplace at the center of the living room, a garden-like space inside the elbow bend at the house's front, outdoor terraces, and an open carport. Construction on the house began in January 1942, and was largely completed by November that year. In 2007, the Himmelfarb Home and Studio was featured in a Chicago Bauhaus and Beyond tour of Modernism in Chicago’s western suburbs.

Winfield is a station on Metra's Union Pacific West Line, located in Winfield, Illinois, at the corner of Jewell Road and Winfield Road. The station is 27.5 miles (44.3 km) away from Ogilvie Transportation Center, the eastern terminus of the West Line. In Metra's zone-based fare system, Winfield is in zone F. As of 2018, Winfield is the 99th busiest of the 236 non-downtown stations in the Metra system, with an average of 496 weekday boardings. Unless otherwise announced, inbound trains use the north platform and outbound trains use the south platform. As of May 30, 2023, Winfield is served by 49 trains (25 inbound, 24 outbound) on weekdays, by all 20 trains (10 in each direction) on Saturdays, and by all 18 trains (nine in each direction) on Sundays and holidays. Winfield station is located at ground level and consists of two side platforms. Three tracks run between the platforms, though one does not access the station. There is an unstaffed station house next to the north track, which is open 24 hours. No bus connections are available at Winfield.

The DuPage County Government Center, a courthouse, is the focus of the 18th judicial circuit of the state of Illinois. The circuit is conterminous with DuPage County, Illinois. The courthouse is located at 505 North County Farm Road in the county seat of Wheaton.

Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital (CDH) is a 390-bed hospital in Winfield, Illinois, United States, one of twelve hospitals operated by Northwestern Medicine. CDH was the first hospital in DuPage County to perform open heart surgery and the first to perform closed-chest, robot-assisted cardiac bypass surgery in the State of Illinois. As of 2021, the hospital was ranked 8th on the "Best Hospitals in Illinois" list by U.S. News & World Report, but was not nationally ranked in any specialty.

Winfield is an incorporated village located in Milton and Winfield Townships, DuPage County, Illinois, United States. The population was 9,080 at the 2010 census and as of 2019, the estimated population was 9,636.Winfield is home to Central DuPage Hospital, one of the largest hospitals in the Chicago suburbs. Winfield has a Metra station on the Union Pacific West Line, which provides regular commuter rail service to Chicago. Attractions adjacent to Winfield include the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County's Kline Creek Farm, a living history farm located on the west side of County Farm Road between Geneva and St. Charles Roads; and the McCormick Foundation's Cantigny Park, which includes public gardens, museums, golf courses, picnic grounds and hiking trails. Cantigny is located on the east side of Winfield Road, just south of Illinois Route 38, also known as Roosevelt Road. Winfield also enjoys parks and recreational services provided by the Winfield Park District. The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County also owns and operates several other open space areas surrounding Winfield. Winfield is considered to be among the safest towns in Illinois.

The 40th Walker Cup Match was played on August 13 and 14, 2005 at the Chicago Golf Club in Wheaton, Illinois, United States. Team United States won 12½ to 11½.

Chicago Golf Club is a private golf club in the central United States, located in Wheaton, Illinois, a suburb west of Chicago. The oldest 18-hole course in North America, it was one of the five founding clubs of the United States Golf Association (USGA) in 1894. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2020. The club has hosted several prominent events, including multiple U.S. Opens and Walker Cups, and was founded by renowned course designer and World Golf Hall of Fame member Charles B. Macdonald. In July 2018, the club hosted the inaugural U.S. Senior Women's Open, created as the 14th USGA national championship.

The 2018 U.S. Senior Women's Open was the inaugural U.S. Senior Women's Open. It was a professional golf tournament organized by the United States Golf Association, open to women over 50 years of age. The championship was played at the Chicago Golf Club, Wheaton, Illinois, from July 12 to 15 and was won by Laura Davies, England.
