St Leonard's Church, Streatham

St Leonard's ward is an administrative division of the London Borough of Lambeth, United Kingdom. It is located in the south west of the borough and shares a border with Wandsworth. The ward comprises the western part of the Streatham town centre and is mostly to the west of the A23 Streatham High Road, with the exception of the Stanthorpe Triangle area immediately east of St Leonard's church in the historic village centre. The population of the ward at the 2011 Census was 14,550.St Leonard's ward is located in the Streatham Parliamentary constituency. The local Member of Parliament since 2019 is Bell Ribeiro-Addy of the Labour Party. Future Speaker of the House of Commons John Bercow served as a councillor here from 1986 to 1990.

South London Liberal Synagogue is a synagogue at Prentis Road in Streatham in the London Borough of Lambeth. The community is currently served by Rabbi Nathan Godleman. The synagogue, which is affiliated to Liberal Judaism, was established in 1929 as one of the first Liberal Jewish congregations in the UK. Its first president was Lily Montagu, one of Liberal Judaism's founders. The congregation moved to its present home in Prentis Road (formerly a girls’ school) in 1938. It appointed its first full-time minister, Rabbi John Rayner, in 1953. The synagogue's ministers since then include Rabbi Julia Neuberger, minister from 1977 to 1989.

Pratts was a department store located in Streatham High Road, London. Established in the 1850s it became part of the John Lewis chain before its closure in 1990.

On 2 February 2020 two people were stabbed in Streatham, London in what police termed a terrorist incident. The attacker, Sudesh Amman, was shot dead by the police. A nearby woman was slightly injured by broken glass as a result. At the time Amman was under active counter-terrorism surveillance, after having recently being released from prison on licence; he had been convicted in 2018 for disseminating terrorist material. Following the attack, the British government introduced the Terrorist Offenders Bill, a piece of emergency legislation intended to prevent those convicted of terrorist offences from being released early from prison.

Streatham Library is located at 63 Streatham High Road, Streatham, in the London Borough of Lambeth, England. The Library opened in 1890, and is one of several historical libraries in the vicinity which were built by Henry Tate. It is a public library.

Streatham railway station is a station in central Streatham in south London. Its main entrance now is on Streatham High Road, and is in Travelcard Zone 3. Services are provided by Southern and Thameslink. Thameslink services go north to St Albans via London Blackfriars and St Pancras, and south to Wimbledon and Sutton. Southern services run between London Bridge and West Croydon. A news stand in the street level ticket hall sells newspapers, coffee and snacks. There is no seating at this level. The platforms are lower and accessed by staircases. There has been no disabled access to the platforms since the station forecourt on the up platform side was redeveloped in the 1980s for the construction of a supermarket. Ticket barriers were installed to the entrance in June 2009.

Streatham Ice and Leisure Centre is an ice rink and leisure centre in Streatham, London. It is the only Olympic-sized skating rink in the city, and is the home ice of the Streatham RedHawks ice hockey team. It replaced the older Streatham Ice Arena.

Streatham High Road, some 1.8 miles (2.9 km) in length, is part of the main A23 road from London to Brighton, and is in the London Borough of Lambeth. It begins in the north at Streatham Hill railway station, being an end-on junction with Streatham Hill and continues south to Norbury where the A23 becomes London Road. Because Streatham existed in Saxon times, it is likely the road existed as early as 1068, when it is mentioned in literature.

Tooting Bec Lido is an open-air fresh water swimming pool in South London. It is the largest fresh water swimming pool by surface area in the United Kingdom, being 100 yards (91.44 m) long and 33 yards (30.18 m) wide.The Lido is on Tooting Bec Common between Tooting and Streatham. An original condition of construction was that it should be concealed from views across the common by a surrounding earth ramp. This ramp is now largely covered with bird-filled trees, except where it is breached by the new entrance. The alternating bright red, yellow, and green doors of the changing cubicles seen above the turquoise water make the Lido a popular location for advertisement "shoots" and other filming. Brad Pitt's boxing "pool" scene in Snatch was filmed at the Lido. The Lido is operated and maintained by the London Borough of Wandsworth.

Streatham ( STRET-əm) is a district in south London, England. Centred 5 miles (8 km) south of Charing Cross, it lies mostly within the London Borough of Lambeth, with some parts extending into the neighbouring London Borough of Wandsworth. Streatham was in Surrey before becoming part of the County of London in 1889, and then Greater London in 1965. The area is identified in the London Plan as one of 35 major centres in Greater London.

Battersea Grammar School was a Voluntary-Controlled Secondary Grammar School in South London. It was established in Battersea in 1875 by the Sir Walter St John Trust and moved to larger premises in Streatham in 1936. The school closed when it was amalgamated with Rosa Bassett School, a grammar school for girls, in 1977 to create the new Furzedown Secondary School, a mixed comprehensive school in Tooting.

The South West London College was a higher education college located in the Tooting and Streatham areas of London, England. The college was founded in 1966, and closed in 1990; initially it was proposed that it would be merged with the Thames Polytechnic, but eventually it was dissolved under the 1988 Education Reform Act. Most of the college's staff and faculty moved to the South Bank Polytechnic.
