Great Haddon

Norman Cross was a rural district in Huntingdonshire from 1894 to 1974. It was formed in 1894 under the Local Government Act 1894 from the part of the Peterborough rural sanitary district which was in Huntingdonshire (the rest forming part of Peterborough Rural District). It was named for the historic Norman Cross hundred. It was expanded in 1935 by taking in Elton from the disbanded Oundle Rural District, and Sibson cum Stibbington, which had previously been administered in Barnack Rural District based over the border in the Soke of Peterborough. In 1965 the Soke and Huntingdonshire merged to form Huntingdon and Peterborough. In 1974 the district was abolished under the Local Government Act 1972. Most of the district went on to form part of the Huntingdonshire district in the non-metropolitan county of Cambridgeshire, except that some areas in the north which were part of Peterborough New Town became part of Peterborough.

Norman Cross is a hamlet in the Huntingdonshire district of Cambridgeshire, England. Traditionally in the county of Huntingdonshire, Norman Cross gave its name to one of the hundreds of Huntingdonshire and, from 1894 to 1974, to Norman Cross Rural District. The hamlet is situated partly in the civil parish of Folksworth and Washingley, west of the A1, and partly in Yaxley parish, to the east.Norman Cross was the site of one of the earliest purpose-built prisoner-of-war camps, Norman Cross Prison, and a memorial to the prisoners who died there was erected in 1914 and relocated in 2005. It takes the form of a bronze imperial eagle on a column, and is grade II listed.

Norman Cross Prison in Huntingdonshire, England, was the world's first purpose-built prisoner-of-war camp or "depot", built in 1796–97 to hold prisoners of war from France and its allies during the French Revolutionary Wars and Napoleonic Wars. After the Treaty of Amiens the depot was emptied of prisoners and, in 1816, largely demolished. Norman Cross lies south of Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, between the villages of Folksworth, Stilton and Yaxley. The junction of the A1 and A15 roads is here. Hampton Nature Reserve, to the south of Peterborough, England is home to Europe's largest population of great crested newts. The site is a Special Area of Conservation as well as being a Site of Special Scientific Interest.

Orton Pit is a 145.8-hectare (360-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest on the southern outskirts of Peterborough in Cambridgeshire. It is also a Special Area of ConservationThis extensive area of disused brick clay workings has the largest known population in Britain of great crested newts. There are ten species of stonewort, including chara canescens, which was previously thought to be extinct in Britain, and four other nationally rare species. The habitats are diverse, with ponds, scrub and rough grassland. The site is private land with no public access, apart from a small wood in the north-east corner, north of Guelder Road and Ewood Drive.

Yaxley is a village and civil parish in the Huntingdonshire district in Cambridgeshire, England. Yaxley lies approximately 4 miles (6 km) south of Peterborough, just off the A15 road. The village is located near the Hampton township, and is approximately three miles north-east of junction 16 of the A1(M) at Norman Cross.

Hampton College is an all-through school for pupils aged 4 to 18, located in Hampton, Peterborough, England.The school opened to years 7 and 8 in September 2005. By 2008 the school accepted students in years 7 through to 11. Further expansion, including a sixth form, was initially due for completion by 2010. Although the school began AS Level courses in September 2009, the date for the new buildings was reviewed. Phase 2 of the school building programme started 2011. In 2016 the sister school Hampton Gardens was built along with a 3G Astro turf football field. The Hampton Academies Trust was also formed, being led by Hampton College’s former Headmistress, Helen Price, in an attempt to unify the education and community of Hampton. Hampton College and Hampton Gardens operate under a joint Sixth Form community with students learning in both schools. Hampton Gardens focuses on performing arts and dance classes whilst Hampton College retains its focus on Humanities. A third school, Hampton Lakes, is planned to be built in 2021 to complete the Hampton Academies Trust. The school currently boasts an outdoor amphitheatre and is built around a courtyard setting. In the evenings, the school is used for a variety of groups and adult education classes and it is hoped that the school will eventually form the heart of the community within Hampton. The college was found to be 'outstanding' by Ofsted in 2007, and was rated as 'outstanding' in 6 out of a possible 7 categories, putting it in the top 2% of schools nationally. A further Ofsted inspection in July 2010 again judged the school to be 'outstanding', however, since 2017, Ofsted have lowered the school’s rating to ‘good’.

Stilton is a village and civil parish in Cambridgeshire, England, about 12 miles (19 km) north of Huntingdon in Huntingdonshire, which is a non-metropolitan district of Cambridgeshire as well as a historic county of England.

Yaxley Football Club is a football club based in Yaxley, Cambridgeshire, England. They are currently members of the Northern Premier League Division One Midlands and play at Leading Drove.

Haddon is a village and civil parish in Cambridgeshire, England. Haddon lies approximately 5 miles (8 km) south-west of Peterborough city centre, near to Chesterton and Yaxley. Haddon is situated within Huntingdonshire which is a non-metropolitan district of Cambridgeshire as well as being a historic county of England. From 1927 to 1937 the Rev Frank Buttle was rector of Chesterton with Haddon and Alwalton.

Hampton is a developing township to the south of Peterborough, in the Peterborough district, in the ceremonial county of Cambridgeshire, England.

Serpentine Green is a shopping centre that opened 8 February 1999 in the Hampton Hargate district of Southern Peterborough in England. It is named after the nearby Serpentine Lake and the adjoining dual-carrigeway outside the centre 'The Serpentine' When it was built the Tesco outlet was a flagship branch, and the largest store in the UK, with a floor space of 130,000 square feet (12,000 m2), - larger stores have since been built however. The centre comprises 34 shop units including branches of WHSmith, Next, Outfit, H&M, Boots as well as many branches of other national retailers. The centre also houses a food court and health centre/library in the Rotunda. A 2,100 space car park is provided for the large numbers of visitors the centre receives, especially in the run-up to Christmas. The centre is situated off the A15 road from the A1139, Fletton Parkway, that skirts the south of Peterborough and runs between the centre and the Orton district of the city to the North. On 5 May 2011, the centre saw the opening of a new Mothercare store. In November 2016, Serpentine Green commenced its first major redevelopment of the centre adding 2,300 m2 (25,000 sq. ft.) of space including a new mezzanine floor and outdoor seating area. Work is expected to finish in Summer 2017. In 2019, Mothercare and WHSmith were closed and new shops will be coming soon.
