Schweighofen is a municipality in Südliche Weinstraße district, in Rhineland-Palatinate, western Germany.

The Wissembourg Gap (French: trouée de Wissembourg, German: Weißenburger Senke) is a corridor of open terrain, approximately six kilometres (3.7 miles) wide, between the hills of the Palatinate Forest to the west and the Bienwald forest (and beyond that the Upper Rhine) to the east. It marks the border between the Palatinate to the north and Alsace to the south, and by extension between Germany and France. The Gap is dominated by the French town of Wissembourg, from which it takes its name. The average altitude of the land in the corridor rises from 150 metres by the Bienwald to 250 metres by the Palatinate Forest. Because of the Wissembourg Gap's position on the Franco-German border, it has frequently been a favoured route for military invasions, notably during the War of the Austrian Succession, the French Revolutionary Wars, the Franco-Prussian War, and the Second World War.

The Château du Geisberg is a 17th/18th century residential chateau at Wissembourg, at the northern tip of Alsace. The Château du Geisberg has been officially listed as a "Historic Edifice" since 1990: it is currently a private house.

The arrondissement of Wissembourg is a former arrondissement of France in the Bas-Rhin department in the Alsace region. In 2015 it was merged into the new arrondissement of Haguenau-Wissembourg. It had 68 communes, and its population was 68,299 (2012).

Wissembourg station is a railway station serving the town Wissembourg, Bas-Rhin department, northeastern France. It is a terminal station at the junction of two railway lines: towards Strasbourg and Neustadt an der Weinstraße (Germany). The station is served by regional trains towards Haguenau and Strasbourg (TER Grand Est) and towards Landau and Neustadt an der Weinstraße (Deutsche Bahn).

The Battle of Wissembourg or Battle of Weissenburg, the first of the Franco-Prussian War, was joined when three German army corps surprised the small French garrison at Wissembourg on 4 August 1870. The defenders, greatly outnumbered, fought stubbornly "especially considering they were surprised and greatly outnumbered, that the French sustained their old renown as fighting men and that the first defeat, although severe, reflected no discredit on the soldiers of the 1st Corps." The fall of Wissembourg allowed the Prussian army to move into France and compelled Marshal Patrice MacMahon to give battle, and suffer defeat, at the Battle of Wörth on 6 August.

The German Wine Gate (Deutsches Weintor) has celebrated the local wine industry and marked the southern end of the German Wine Route in Schweigen-Rechtenbach since 1936. A corresponding marker at the northern end of the German Wine Route at Bockenheim, some 85 kilometers (53 miles) to the north is the Haus der Deutschen Weinstraße (House of the German Wine street) which since 1995 has welcomed visitors with unusual architectural details and a large restaurant.

The name Wissembourg is a Gallicized version of Weißenburg (Weissenburg) in German meaning "white castle". The Latin place-name, sometimes used in ecclesiastical sources, is Sebusium.The town was annexed by France after 1648 but then incorporated into Germany in 1871. It was returned to France in 1919, but reincorporated back into Germany in 1940. After 1944 it again became French.

Schweigen-Rechtenbach is a municipality in Südliche Weinstraße district, in Rhineland-Palatinate, western Germany.

The Dominican Church, Wissembourg (French: Église des Dominicains de Wissembourg), is a church in Wissembourg, Bas-Rhin, Alsace, France, formerly the church of a dissolved Dominican priory. Built in 1288, it became a registered monument historique in 1982. It was rebuilt and since 1981 has served as the cultural center "La Nef" housing a mediathèque and a concert hall.
