University of Kansas Medical Center

The University of Kansas School of Medicine is a public medical school located on the University of Kansas Medical Center campuses in Kansas City, Kansas, and also Salina, Kansas, and Wichita, Kansas. The Kansas City campus is co-located with the independent University of Kansas Health System, and they are commonly known collectively as KU Med.

The University of Kansas Health System, commonly known as KU Med and formerly known as The University of Kansas Hospital, is a nonprofit, academic medical center located in Kansas City, Kansas, United States, with branch hospitals and education centers in Topeka, Kansas, Great Bend, Kansas, and Lawrence, Kansas. It is the region's only nationally verified Level I Trauma Center. In 1998, it became an independent entity that receives no funding from the state of Kansas. The hospital is affiliated with the University of Kansas Medical Center, which comprises the schools of medicine, nursing and allied health. The University of Kansas Health System combines education, research and patient care. Physicians represent more than 200 specialties. The center has 910 staffed beds; per year, there are 298,920 outpatient visits, 27,380 inpatient admissions and 47,771 emergency department visits. The center performs annually 10,124 inpatient and 8,743 outpatient surgeries.

The University of Kansas Cancer Center is a National Cancer Institute (NCI) designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, located in Kansas City, Kansas. It is the only cancer center in Kansas with this designation.

The H.W. Gates Funeral Home is a historical landmark in Kansas City, Kansas, United States, that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRNP).

The Hanover Heights Historic District area was developed between 1912 and 1930. It is a 15.5 acres (6.3 ha) district containing 90 contributing buildings located between State Line Road and Rainbow Boulevard to Olathe Boulevard and West 43rd Avenue in Kansas City, Kansas. It was placed on Register of Historic Kansas Places on December 2, 1989. It was placed on National Register of Historic Places on May 17, 1990.In September 2012, it became the center point for The Kansas City Startup Village (KCSV), an entrepreneur-led, organic, grassroots initiative helping to solidify Kansas City as a premiere startup city in America. The KCSV operates under the Twitter username @KCSV and hashtag #KCSV. Google Fiber Ignites Kansas City Startup Scene The district includes the Judge Louis R. Gates Residence (c. 1922–1923), a Prairie style residence at 4146 Cambridge Street, designed by Clarence Shepard, which was separately listed on the National Register in 1980.

The Judge Louis R. Gates House is located at 4146 Cambridge Street in Kansas City, Kansas. Clarence E. Shepard was the architect of this example of a Prairie School residence. It was placed on the Register of Historic Kansas Places on July 3, 1979, and on the National Register of Historic Places on December 1, 1980. It was designated a Kansas City Historic Landmark on August 26, 1982. It is a two-story Prairie School house with a hipped roof, wide eaves, and a side entrance porch. The main portion is 25 by 38 feet (7.6 m × 11.6 m) in plan; a 7 by 15 feet (2.1 m × 4.6 m) one-story extension to the rear holds a breakfast room and a rear entrance.

The Rosedale Arch is dedicated to the men of Rosedale, a neighborhood district and former municipality on the southern edge of Kansas City, Kansas, who served in World War I. Inspired by the Arc de Triomphe, the Arch was designed by John LeRoy Marshall, a Rosedale resident, and dedicated in 1924. Located on Mount Marty, the flood-lighted arch is most easily visible at night from the intersection of Rainbow Boulevard and Southwest Boulevard. A historic marker was dedicated under the arch in 1993 to honor the soldiers of World War II, Korean War, and Vietnam War.

The Loretto is a multipurpose venue in the Westport neighborhood of Kansas City, Missouri. It was adapted from a former girls' academy known as Loretto Academy, dedicated in 1904 as a "boarding and day school for girls." The Thomas Hart Benton Home and Studio State Historic Site is a state-owned property located at 3616 Belleview, Kansas City, Missouri, that preserves the house and studio of Missouri artist Thomas Hart Benton. The historic site was established in 1977 and is managed by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources. Tours are provided that show the furnished house and studio as Benton left it when he died on January 19, 1975. The site was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.

State Line Road is a major north–south street in the Kansas City Metropolitan Area that runs along the Kansas–Missouri state line. It runs 12.5 miles (20 km) from Chester Avenue in the north, crossing U.S. Highway 56 a couple of miles from the northern end and continuing south to the intersection of 135th St. in Kansas, Missouri Route 150 in the South. It continues north as Eaton St. and continues south as Kenneth Rd., both in Kansas. Its northernmost point is roughly 3/4 mile (1.25 km) south of Interstate 35. It is the dividing line between Kansas and Missouri for most of the Kansas City metro area south of the confluence of the Kansas and Missouri rivers. Cities along the road include Kansas City, Missouri, Kansas City, Kansas, and several smaller communities in Kansas such as Leawood, Mission Hills, Prairie Village, and Westwood Hills. For northern portions of the road, the Missouri–Kansas state line bisects the roadway. Consequently, for these portions of the road, northbound traffic is in Missouri while southbound traffic is in Kansas. For southern portions of the road, the entire road is in Kansas.State Line Road is home to the home and freighting office of Alexander Majors, a building on the National Register of Historic Places and located at 8145 State Line Road. several schools on the Missouri side, such as The Barstow School, Pembroke Hill and Rockhurst High School Ward Parkway Center at 8600 Ward ParkwayIn 2001 Leawood promoted State Line Road as "The State Line Link."
