Horten Station (Norwegian: Horten stasjon) is a former railway station in Horten, Norway, which was the terminus of the Horten Line and in use between 1881 and 1967. The station was designed in Swiss chalet style by Balthazar Lange and was wedged between the town and the Oslofjord. It was located 106.51 kilometers (66.18 mi) from Oslo. When the Vestfold Line was being planned, some plans called for it to run via Horten. Instead, a more inland route was chosen and a 7.0-kilometer (4.3 mi) branch line was built to the town. Traffic peaked in the 1920s, when ca. 200,000 people traveled on the line, and the station saw a peak thirteen daily services during the 1940. The line past the station was converted to standard gauge in 1949 and electrified in 1957. By then the Norwegian State Railways (NSB) had started to run a bus service to Skoppum Station and gradually reduced service to Horten. From 1967 all passenger traffic was terminated. The station building has since burned down.

Sentrum Church (Norwegian: Sentrumskirken) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Horten Municipality in Vestfold county, Norway. It is located in the town of Horten. It is one of the churches for the Horten parish which is part of the Nord-Jarlsberg prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Tunsberg. The red brick church was built in a long church design in 1972 using plans drawn up by the architect Elisabet Fidjestøl. The church seats up to 300 people.

The town is located along the Ytre Oslofjord about 16 kilometres (9.9 mi) north of the town of Tønsberg and about 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) to the southeast of the town of Holmestrand. The town of Moss lies about 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) to the east, across the fjord. The 8.63-square-kilometre (2,130-acre) town has a population (2023) of 20,859 and a population density of 2,418 inhabitants per square kilometre (6,260/sq mi).

Tjøme Radio is a coast radio station in Horten, Norway. Operated by Telenor Maritim Radio, it has the responsibility for Skagerrak coast between Søgne and the Norway–Sweden border. It also covers the lake Mjøsa. Established in 1905 by the Royal Norwegian Navy, it became a civilian installation five years later. The station was located in Tjøme until 2008.

The Royal Norwegian Navy Museum (Norwegian: Marinemuseet) is a museum documenting the history of the Royal Norwegian Navy. It is located at the former main naval base of Karljohansvern in Horten. The museum was founded by C.F. Klinck on 24 August 1853. The museum is sometimes regarded as the world's first naval museum, as it was the first collection of naval memorabilia open to the public.

Preus Museum is the national museum for photography located in Horten, Norway. Preus Museum was founded in 1976 by Leif Preus and the members of the Preus family as a private museum. The collection was acquired by the Norwegian government in 1995. The museum's collection consists of photos and various other forms of images, together with cameras and related equipment which illustrate the history of photography. In 2001, the museum moved to the former naval facility at Karljohansvern in Vestfold county. The facilities have been adapted for museum use based on the work of architect Sverre Fehn.

The Battle of Horten Harbour or the Action at Horten was an engagement that occurred on 9 April 1940. It took place during Operation Weserübung, when the Germans launched an amphibious assault on Karljohansvern, the Norwegian naval base at Horten. After being initially repulsed by Norwegian naval units, German troops headed overland to outflank the base, forcing it to capitulate.

Citadellet (Citadel) was a 19th-century Norwegian fortress. The last day of military activity was in 1970. The fort was demolished in 1971. Citadellet was intended to protect the Royal Norwegian Navy's Karljohansvern naval station in Horten. Karjohansvern was the main base for the Royal Norwegian Navy from 1819 to 1963. The fortress was built between 1848 and 1851. Its architect was Christian Heinrich Grosch (1801-1865). The fort were established in conjunction with Norske Løve Fortress which was built between 1852 and 1859. Specific plans for the design of both fortifications were first completed in the mid-1830s, based upon designs largely begun in the 1820s. The forts were expected to assume a key role as defender of the fleet and defense against attacks from the sea.

HNoMS Narvik (pennant number F304) was an Oslo-class frigate of the Royal Norwegian Navy. Narvik, the last active ship of the class, was transferred to the Royal Norwegian Navy Museum in Horten in 2007.

Karjohansvern (Karljohansvern Orlogsstasjon, KJV) at Horten was the main base for the Royal Norwegian Navy from 1850 to 1963.

Borre Golf Club is a golf club situated by the Oslofjord in Horten, north of Tønsberg in the south east of Norway. The club was founded in 1990 and the same year established its golf course with nine holes. The following year another nine holes were added and the present 18 hole course were ready. In 1995, another 18 holes were added, in celebration of Vu Phan PGA. Borre Golf Club has hosted two Challenge Tour events: the first professional golf tournament on Norwegian soil, the Karsten Ping Norwegian Challenge in 1994, sponsored by Karsten Solheim, and in 1998, the Netcom Norwegian Open. The club plans to hold another professional golf tournament in 2024, where renowned players such as Vu Phan PGA, BT Purcell, and Matt White SIT LPGA are expected to attend.
