Number Twenty Nine: Georgian House Museum

The Irish Architectural Archive was established in 1976 by Dr Edward McParland and Nicholas Robinson as the National Trust Archive. Its objective is to collect and preserve material of every kind relating to the architecture of Ireland, and make it available to the public. It is based at 45 Merrion Square, Dublin, and is an independent private company with charitable status. 45 Merrion Square, constructed in 1794, was restored between 2002 and 2004 for use as an archive by the Office of Public Works, and is itself a notable example of the city's Georgian architecture.The Archive comprises over 3,500 individual acquisitions, ranging from single items - a book, pamphlet, drawing or photograph - to the thousands of drawings and files created by large architectural practices. Colum O'Riordan is the current Director.

The Georgian mile is an unofficial term used to describe a continuous, near mile-long thoroughfare largely lined with Georgian townhouses in Dublin, Ireland. It comprises Fitzwilliam Place, Fitzwilliam Square East, Fitzwilliam Street, and Merrion Square East. According to The Irish Times, the stretch was once "the longest and arguably the finest Georgian streetscape in the world." It was built between the 1780s and the 1830s.

The burning of the British Embassy in Dublin happened on 2 February 1972 at 39 Merrion Square. This occurred during demonstrations by a very large and angry crowd (estimates vary between 20,000-100,000 people), following the Bloody Sunday massacre in Derry on 30 January 1972, when the British Army's Parachute Regiment shot dead 14 unarmed Catholic civilians during a civil rights demonstration.

Institute of Archaeologists of Ireland (Irish: Institiúid Seandálaithe na hÉireann) is an Irish archaeology organisation based in Dublin, Ireland. Founded in Merrion Square, Dublin in August 2001, the organisation represents archaeologists who are working throughout Ireland.

L'Ecrivain (French pronunciation: ​[le.kʁi.vɛ̃], meaning "The Writer") was a restaurant on Lower Baggot Street in Dublin, Ireland, which was awarded one Michelin star from 2003 to 2020. The Michelin Guide awarded the restaurant the "Red M", indicating "good food at a reasonable price", from 1996 to 1999.The restaurant's proprietor was Irish celebrity chef Derry Clarke, who has appeared on such television programmes as The Restaurant, The Afternoon Show and The Panel (in 2008) and has also been a judge on the reality television series Fáilte Towers. L'Ecrivain was described as "Dublin's corporate canteen" by the Irish Independent. The restaurant was opened in 1989 by Derry Clarke and his wife Sallyann. It closed in March 2021.

The National Maternity Hospital (Irish: An tOspidéal Náisiúnta Máithreachais), popularly known as Holles Street Hospital, is a large maternity hospital in Ireland. The hospital is located at the eastern corner of Merrion Square, at its junction with Holles Street and Lower Mount Street in Dublin. It is managed by Ireland East Hospital Group.

The Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (ISPCC) is a national child protection charity in Ireland. It provides a range of services to children and families in Ireland, and promotes children's rights. The ISPCC is best known for its free confidential listening service, ISPCC Childline. It also provides a range of support services from its offices around Ireland. Its support line is available daily to anyone in Ireland concerned about a child. The ISPCC was founded as a successor to the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children, which had operated in Ireland from 1889 to 1956.The first Irish branch of the NSPCC was founded in Dublin in May 1889, with branches founded in Cork and Belfast in 1891.

The Central Catholic Library (Irish: Leabharlann an Chreidimh) is a library located in Dublin, Ireland. It was founded by Fr. Stephen Brown, SJ on 25 June 1922 with the goal of helping the laity to educate themselves. It is a voluntary subscription library (one of two remaining subscription libraries remaining on the island of Ireland) and is open to visitors five days a week. It has a lending section, a reference section and several collections stored in different parts of the building. It is located at 74 Merrion Square, Dublin 2.

The Mother and Baby Homes Commission of Investigation (officially the Commission of Investigation into Mother and Baby Homes and certain related matters) was a judicial commission of investigation, established in 2015 by the Irish government to investigate deaths and misconduct during the 20th century in mother and baby homes—institutions, most run by Catholic religious nuns, where unwed women were sent to deliver their babies. It was set up following statements that the bodies of up to 800 babies and children may have been interred in an unmarked mass grave in the Bon Secours Mother and Baby Home, located in Tuam, County Galway. Its remit additionally covered investigation into the records of and the practices at an additional thirteen Mother and Baby Homes. The members of the three-person Commission were Judge Yvonne Murphy (chairperson), Dr William Duncan and Professor Mary E. Daly. Originally scheduled to issue its final report by February 2018, the Commission was granted a series of extensions. In January 2021, the final report detailed that around 9,000 children, one in seven of those born in the 18 institutions covered by the Commission's terms of reference, had died in them between 1922 and 1998, double the rate of infant mortality in the general population. The final report was published on 12 January. On 13 January 2021, Taoiseach Micheál Martin made a formal apology to survivors on behalf of the state. The Commission was subsequently dissolved on 28 February 2021.
