Dinxperlo (Dutch: [ˈdɪŋkspərloː] ; Dutch Low Saxon: Dinsper) is a town and former municipality in the eastern Netherlands (Achterhoek region), situated directly at the Germany-Netherlands border. Since 1 January 2005, Dinxperlo has been part of the municipality of Aalten. Before 2005, Dinxperlo was a separate municipality, covering the town of Dinxperlo itself and the village of De Heurne. The name of the village probably is derived from dingspel (justice court or area) and loo (wood). A popular explanation is that in the Middle Ages there was a court in the woods here. Dinxperlo used to have a coat of arms depicting Lady Justice.

De Heurne is a village in the municipality of Aalten, near Dinxperlo (Achterhoek region), Province of Gelderland, in the east of the Netherlands. The village was first mentioned in 1841 as "Beggelder en Heurne", and means "means bent [of a hill]". In 1840, it was home to 1,216 people. In 1822, the grist mill Teunismolen was built in De Heurne.The village has a Protestant church and a school. Between 1904 and 1935, De Heurne had its own train station, on the Varsseveld - Dinxperlo railway line. Although the railway service was discontinued in the 1960s and the station was closed, the original building is still there.Revenues in the village are mainly from the agricultural sector. In recent years it has shifted towards tourism. Around 1950, the village counted more than ten small grocery shops, however these have all now closed. Nowadays the inhabitants do their shopping mostly in surrounding towns and villages. To avoid confusion with Heurne ("Aaltense Heurne"), which is also situated in the same region, De Heurne is locally known as "Dinxperlose Heurne".

Breedenbroek is a Dutch village in the Achterhoek region in the Gelderland province, near the town Dinxperlo, Netherlands. It is located some 3 kilometres from the German border. Since the municipal rearrangement in 2005, Breedenbroek is a part of the municipality of Oude IJsselstreek. It was first mentioned in 1386 as Bredenbroick, and means "wide swampy land". The land was cultivated during the Middle Ages. The southern part became property of the Lords of Anholt and became known as Klein-Breedenbroek and the main settlement is often called Groot-Breedenbroek. In 1840, it was home to 283 people. The church dates from 1855. In 2015, was decommissioned, and in 2021 the church was transformed into a cultural centre. The grist mill "De Kempermolen" was built in 1882. In 1975, it was in poor condition and restored. In 2002–2003, it was repaired again.

Teunismolen or De Haan (English: The Rooster) is a smock mill in De Heurne, Gelderland, Netherlands which was built in 1822 and has been restored to working order. The mill is listed as a Rijksmonument.

IJzerlo is a hamlet in the municipality of Aalten, between Aalten and Dinxperlo in the (Achterhoek region) in the eastern Netherlands. It was first mentioned in 1356 as Yserlo, and means "forest with primeval soil". In 1840, it was home to 438 people. The postal authorities have placed it under Aalten.IJzerlo has built a local reputation for its annual Farm & Country Fair, the Easter fire and the provision of outdoor play.

Isselburg (German: [ˈɪsl̩ˌbʊʁk] ) is a town in the district of Borken, in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is located on the river Issel, near the border of the Netherlands, and approximately 10 km west of Bocholt.

Sinderen is a village in the municipality of Oude IJsselstreek in the Dutch province of Gelderland. It is situated at the meeting of three roads, to Varsseveld (north), Dinxperlo (south) and Gendringen (south west), and was on the border of the former municipalities of Gendringen and Wisch. There used to be a castle in Sinderen. The 12th-century Antonius Chapel survives. The meadow in front of the farm "D'n Huusboer" is surrounded by what was the castle moat, and the remains of underground vaults from the castle can also be found there. To the north of the village, a Reformed church was built between 1884 and 1887. It is now affiliated with the Protestant Church in the Netherlands and called the Keurhorster Church.

Spork is a locality (German: Ortsteil) of the town of Bocholt in the district of Borken. It was first mentioned in 1188 as Sporklo. Formerly an independent municipality, it was merged into the city of Bocholt in 1975. Its population was 972 in December 2017.

Anholt is a former town in Kreis Borken in the German State of North Rhine-Westphalia. Since 1975, it is part of the municipality of Isselburg. Its population is 3,360 (2011). Anholt was the residence of the Lords of Anholt. It was the capital of the Principality of Salm-Salm; the princely Salm family (also titled Dukes of Hoogstraten) is still residing at Anholt Castle. Anholt borders on the Netherlands to the north and west and on the Rhineland to the south. It is the westernmost town of the region of Münster, Westphalia. Anholt Castle, of which the oldest part dates from the 12th century, was restored after World War II. It is surrounded by a moat, a baroque garden and an English-style park. One of the wings of the castle was turned into a museum, housing the art collection of the Salm family. The former town hall was built in 1567. The Roman Catholic church of St. Pancratius was built between 1851 and 1862.

Heurne is a hamlet in the municipality of Aalten, near Aalten (Achterhoek region) in the eastern Netherlands. It was first mentioned in 1492 as Horne, and means "bent [of a hill]". The postal authorities have placed it under Aalten. In 1840, it was home to 274 people.Heurne has a village centre, "D'n Heurnsen Tref" and is known of the border crossing Heurne-Hemden. Across the Heurne lies the Hamelandroute. Heurne does not have a centre, only a few stores at the border crossing. To avoid confusion with De Heurne (Dinxperlose Heurne"), Heurne is locally known as "Aaltense Heurne".

Varsseveld is a railway station located in Varsseveld, Netherlands. The station was opened on 15 July 1885 and is located on the Winterswijk–Zevenaar railway. The train services are operated by Arriva. Varsseveld was once a junction, where the railway branch to Dinxperlo started, but that line has been closed and demolished since 1935.

Voorst is a village in the Dutch province of Gelderland. It is located in the municipality of Oude IJsselstreek, about 3 km east of the town of Gendringen.It was first mentioned in 1329 as Forsto, and is the name of a manor house.
