Leonidas L. Polk House

Merrimon-Wynne House, also known as the Merrimon House and Wynne Hall, is a historic home located at Raleigh, Wake County, North Carolina. The house was built about 1875, and is a two-story, four-bay, Italianate style frame dwelling with a cross-gabled roof and somewhat irregular massing. It is sheathed in weatherboard and features a Stick Style / Eastlake movement front porch with abundant ornamentation. The house was remodeled and complementary bay windows added about 1910. The house was built by Senator Augustus Summerfield Merrimon (1830-1892).The property was previously listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1975 as the Merrimon House, when it stood at 526 North Wilmington Street. It was delisted in 2008, after it was relocated. It was relisted on the National Register of Historic Places in 2014 at its new location.History Augustus Summerfield Merrimon built The Merrimon-Wynne House in 1876 to serve as his private residence on N. Wilmington street in Raleigh. The Merrimon estate sold the home to A.F and Lula B. Page, who would later sell the house to Peace College. It served as the "Wynne Hall" dormitory until 1934. The North Carolina Division of Archives and History successfully nominated the house to the National Register of Historic Places in September 1975. In the early 1970's, the house was acquired by the state and converted into office space. 2000's- Now In 2008, the Blount Street Commons development group purchased the home. The developers moved it to its current site at the corner of Blount and Polk streets in downtown Raleigh. This site also served as the birthplace of Dr. Jane McKimmon, a leader in home demonstration and adult education in North Carolina. In 2013, the house was purchased by Heyens Hospitality and renovated into a wedding and special event venue, and is used as such to this day.

Holy Trinity is a member of the Anglican Church in North America and is under the governance of the Diocese of the Carolinas.

Dr. Hubert Benbury Haywood House is a historic home located at Raleigh, Wake County, North Carolina. It was built in 1916, and is a two-story, Prairie School-style brick dwelling with a green tile hipped roof and two-bay wide, one-bay deep, one-story brick sun porch. A two-story rear ell was added in 1928. The interior has Colonial Revival style design elements.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1995.

Lewis-Smith House is a historic home located at Raleigh, Wake County, North Carolina, USA It was built between 1854 and 1856, and is a two-story, three-bay, Greek Revival-style frame dwelling with a low hipped roof and Italianate-style brackets. It features a two-tier pedimented entrance portico, with paired Doric order columns at the first level and well-detailed Ionic order ones at the second. Two-story, demi-octagonal projecting bays were added to the sides in the early-20th century.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972.

The Andrews-Duncan House is a historic building located at 407 North Blount Street in Raleigh, North Carolina, United States. Built in 1874 for a prominent businessman, the Italianate style home was designed by architect George S. H. Appleget. The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) in 1972 and is currently owned by the state government. A large tree named after a presidential candidate once stood behind the house and is commemorated with a historical marker.

Haywood Hall, also known as the Treasurer John Haywood House, is a historic home located at Raleigh, Wake County, North Carolina. It was built in 1792, and is a two-story, five-bay, Federal-style frame dwelling with a central hall plan. It features a two-story front porch with attenuated fluted Doric order columns. It was the home of North Carolina State Treasurer John Haywood (1754-1827). It is now open as a historic house museum. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1970. It is located in the Capitol Area Historic District.

Peace College Main Building is the focal point of the Peace College campus in Raleigh, North Carolina. Built between 1859 and 1862, Main Building is located at the northern end of Wilmington Street in downtown Raleigh and is considered one of the largest antebellum buildings surviving in the city. During its early history, Main Building was used as a military hospital and offices for the Freedmen's Bureau. The building now contains offices, parlors, banquet rooms, and dormitory residences. Main Building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973 and is a designated Raleigh Historic Landmark.

Garland Scott and Toler Moore Tucker House is a historic home located in the Oakwood neighborhood of Raleigh, North Carolina. It is located in the Oakwood Historic District. The house was built in 1914, and is a two-story, Southern Colonial Revival style frame dwelling with rear wings and porches. It has a brick foundation, weatherboard siding, and a slate-covered hipped roof. The front facade features a monumental rounded double-height porch, with four enormous fluted Ionic order columns. It was moved from its original located at 420 North Blount Street to 418 North Person Street, in 1974.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2014.

The Heck-Andrews House was finished in 1870 and was one of the first houses in Raleigh, Wake County, North Carolina to be constructed after the American Civil War. It is located at 309 North Blount Street. It was created by G.S.H. Appleget for Mrs. Mattie Heck, the wife of Colonel Jonathan McGee Heck. It is on the National Register of Raleigh Historic Property. The house has a dramatic central tower capped with a convex mansard roof with a balustrade. The central part of the 2+1⁄2-story, Second Empire style frame dwelling is enclosed with a concave mansard roof with patterned slate.The house was owned by the Heck family until 1916 and was sold to A.B. Andrews. In 1948, Andrews heir sold the house to Julia Russell. The North Carolina government bought the house in 1987 planning to refurbish the structure. The exterior refurbishment was completed, however the State sold the house to the North Carolina Association of Realtors in January 2016 who plan on using it as an office building.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972.

The North Carolina Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA) is a state agency designed to advocate for the relationship the state has with its military and veterans' installations and populations. It was created by the North Carolina General Assembly with the support of Governor Pat McCrory. The current head of the Department is Secretary Walter E. Gaskin. Prior to the creation of the Department, the Division of Veterans Affairs was under the Department of Administration while all military-related matters fell under the Department of Commerce.

North Carolina Freedom Park in Raleigh, North Carolina is a park on Lane Street downtown between the Executive Mansion and the Legislative Building. Designed by Phil Freelon and the firm Perkins + Will, who helped design the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History & Culture, It opened August 23, 2023. The Park was Constructed by Holt Brothers Construction of Raleigh, North Carolina which was founded by Torry Holt and Terrence Holt. The park includes the North Carolina Victim Assistance Network’s Crime Victims’ Memorial Garden, which was already in the location. The total project cost of $5 million was funded partly from a Andrew W. Mellon Foundation grant of $1.9 million.
