Lasborough Park

Lasborough is a settlement in Gloucestershire, England, part of the Westonbirt with Lasborough civil parish. Lasborough lies to the west of the A46, about two miles north of Leighterton, two miles south of Kingscote and five miles west of Tetbury. Lasborough is an ancient settlement, with remains of a Roman villa nearby, and it lay on the Roman road from Bath to Chavenage Green. In 1086, the Domesday Book recorded a settlement of 13 households. However, like its sister community of Westonbirt, the village of Lasborough was largely depopulated in the Middle Ages, with only the manor house and the church surviving.The manor house, which dated from 1319, belonged to the Estcourt family from 1598. It was rebuilt about 1610 as Lasborough Manor (later Lasborough Farm), and the surrounding land enclosed, by Sir Thomas Estcourt (1569–1624). He served as a justice of the peace and a sheriff, as well as two periods as an MP, first for Malmesbury and later for Gloucestershire.Lasborough House was built in the 1790s on part of the estate of Lasborough Farm for the then owner, Edmund Estcourt, by the architect James Wyatt in a castellated neo-Gothic style.By the 1820s, the church of St. Mary's, Lasborough was derelict. It was rebuilt in 1861–2 by Lewis Vulliamy for R. S. Holford, who had purchased the Lasborough estate in 1844. The church featured in the BBC TV series Lark Rise to Candleford. It is one of the ten churches in the benefice of Badminton.

Boxwell SSSI (grid reference ST816928) is a 5.31-hectare (13.1-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest in Gloucestershire, notified in 1954. The site is listed in the 'Cotswold District' Local Plan 2001-2011 (on line) as a Key Wildlife Site (KWS).

Boxwell Court is a country house near Leighterton in Gloucestershire, England, about 5 km or 3 miles east of Wotton-under-Edge, dating from the 15th and 16th centuries. It is a Grade II* listed building.

Bagpath is a hamlet in Gloucestershire, England, in the Ozleworth valley south of the village of Kingscote and forming part of Kingscote civil parish. The hamlet consists of two separate settlements of Bagpath and Newington Bagpath, although residents of Newington Bagpath refer to their settlement solely as Newington. The hamlet falls under the authority of Cotswold District Council and is represented by the Conservative MP, Geoffrey Clifton-Brown. The hamlet is sparsely populated with a population of about 100, and a small number of farms. Almost all of the area is pasture or woodland.

Kingscote Park (formerly Kingscote Cottage) is a Grade II listed house and country estate in Kingscote, near Tetbury, Gloucestershire, England. The original Kingscote Park was demolished in 1951. Both houses formed part of the manor of Kingscote which was held by the Kingscote family from the 12th century and is mentioned in the Domesday Book as 'Chingescote'.

Kingscote is a village and civil parish in the Cotswold district of Gloucestershire, England, set on the uplands near the south western edge of the Cotswold hills. It is situated about two miles (3 km) east of Uley, five miles (8 km) east of Dursley and four miles (6 km) west of Tetbury. The landscape is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The hamlet of Newington Bagpath lies to the west of the village; the parish lands extend near to the small village of Owlpen.

The parish includes Boxwell and Leighterton. The adjoining parishes are: Ozleworth to the north-west; Kingscote to the north; Westonbirt with Lasborough to the east; Didmarton to the south; and Hillesley and Tresham to the west. The last is in the Stroud district; the others are in the Cotswold district.

Leighterton is a village in rural Gloucestershire off the A46. It sits within the civil parish of Boxwell with Leighterton, 4.25 miles west-southwest of Tetbury, towards the southern end of the Cotswolds AONB. Situated in the Cotswold hills, it is 175 metres above sea level. Historically, it was situated within the hundred of Grumbald's Ash.The village's parish church, dedicated to St Andrew, is a Grade II* listed building. Originally built in the 13th century and with a porch dating from the 14th century, it underwent a restoration in 1877. The patronage of the church formerly belonged to Walsingham Priory and Gloucester Abbey, later passing to the Huntley family of Boxwell Court.There are over a dozen listed buildings within the village built with Cotswold limestone, including the 19th century Royal Oak pub and former village hall.A long barrow, located just outside the village, is listed as a scheduled monument. An example of a Cotswold-Severn megalithic chamber tomb, it is 220 feet in length with burial likely to date between 3800BC and 3625BC.The manor of Leighterton is recorded as being held by Humphrey de Bohun in 1373 and by Robert Stanshaw in 1473, part of the Stanshaw family of Little Sodbury Manor.The village is located in the Grumbolds Ash with Avening Cotswold district council ward and the Tetbury Gloucestershire county council electoral division.

Calcot Manor is a historic building in Calcot, three and a half miles west of Tetbury on A 4135 in Gloucestershire, England, near the junction of roads A46 and A4135 (National Grid Reference ST 841180 94891). The original building was established in approximately 1300 AD by Henry of Kingswood as a tithe barn annex of Kingswood Abbey. The estate was expanded to include a 16th-century manor house and other buildings. Structures added from the Late Middle Ages to the mid-17th century include a chapel, granary, stables and other buildings. The buildings are all constructed from limestone; which are locally quarried stones that are typically flat and easily stacked for drystone wall purposes.
