Flasby

Sharp Haw is a hill on the southern edge of the Yorkshire Dales, located just within the National Park. Being the last outpost of the hills before the broad Aire valley, and with a sharp summit from many angles, it is prominent and easily recognisable from much of the area to the south. The hill has an elevation of 357 metres (1,171 ft).From the summit there are views over the Aire valley, to Gargrave, Skipton and the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, to the east into Wharfedale and to the north into Malhamdale. Although Ordnance Survey maps do not show a path to the summit, there is a path from the public bridleway, but this runs alongside the peak, not to the summit. It's popular with cyclists. The pastures up Sharp Haw are home to sheep and beef cows, as well as ground nesting birds. The word Haw comes from the Old English hawian, and means view.

Winterburn is a village in the Craven district of North Yorkshire, England. It is about 5 miles (8 km) south west of Grassington. Winterburn Reservoir is located about a mile from the village, which is situated on Winterburn Beck, the reservoir's outlet.

Eshton is a small village and civil parish in the Craven district of North Yorkshire, England. At the 2011 Census the population was less than 100 and is included in the civil parish of Flasby with Winterburn. In 2015, North Yorkshire County Council estimated the population to be 70. It is in the Yorkshire Dales and about 6 miles (9.7 km) south of Grassington. Eshton Hall is a large grade II* listed country house, built in 1825–7 by architect George Webster of Kendal in an Elizabethan revival style for Matthew Wilson. Eston Hall was inherited by Frances Mary Richardson Currer who held a large library.The hall was converted into apartments between 2003 and 2005.

Hetton is a small Dales village in the civil parish of Hetton-cum-Bordley, in the North Yorkshire district of North Yorkshire, England, situated 5.75 miles north of Skipton by the B6265 road. It is the largest settlement in the parish of Hetton-cum-Bordley. The population of the former civil parish of Hetton taken at the 2011 Census was 155.Nearby places include Rylstone, Cracoe, Flasby, Threapland and Winterburn. Hetton was historically part of the township of Hetton with Bordley in the ancient parish of Burnsall in the West Riding of Yorkshire. In the late 19th century it became a separate township, and it became a separate civil parish in 1866. It was transferred to the new county of North Yorkshire in 1974. The civil parish was abolished on 1 April 2012 and amalgamated with the parish of Bordley to form the new civil parish of "Hetton-cum-Bordley". From 1974 until 2023 it was in Craven district.

Gargrave is a large village and civil parish in the Craven district located along the A65, 4 miles (6 km) north-west of Skipton in North Yorkshire, England. It is situated on the very edge of the Yorkshire Dales. The River Aire and the Leeds and Liverpool Canal pass through the village. It had a population of 1,764 in 2001 reducing slightly to 1,755 at the 2011 census.

Winterburn Reservoir is located near the village of Winterburn in Malhamdale, North Yorkshire, England. It was constructed between 1885 and 1893 by Leeds civil engineers Henry Rofe and Edward Filliter to help maintain levels on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal. The cost of construction was estimated at £45,000. Its capacity is 281,504,000 imperial gallons (1.27974×109 L; 338,072,000 US gal) and covers an area of 39.17 acres (15.85 ha) In order to maintain the water levels of Winterburn and Eshton Beck, there is a compensation scheme. Around 1.1×106 imperial gallons; 1.3×106 US gallons (5×106 L) of water are discharged per day. The amount of compensation water is measured in the gauge house below the reservoir and further downstream at Holme Bridge lock, Gargrave. In order to maintain the aquatic life in the reservoir, this is monitored daily, and in times of drought the water discharged into Winterburn Beck is reduced.

Gargrave is a railway station on the Bentham Line, which runs between Leeds and Morecambe via Skipton. The station, situated 30 miles (48 km) north-west of Leeds, serves the village of Gargrave in North Yorkshire. It is owned by Network Rail and managed by Northern Trains.

Cracoe is a small village and civil parish in the Craven district of North Yorkshire, England. It is situated near to Rylstone and about 6 miles south-west of Grassington. Cracoe has an estimated population of 160 residents, measured at 178 in the 2011 census. Cracoe is a village which is also situated near Rylstone beneath Barden Fell and the twin skyline landmarks of Rylstone Cross and Cracoe Pinnacle in the Yorkshire Dales.Evidence of an army training camp can be seen on the south-east edge of the village. The circular earthworks visible from Fell Lane are searchlight battery emplacements. The village is located 5 and a half miles north-west of Skipton. The name of the village can be seen as famous in geological circles - for the nearby Cracoe Reef Knolls, a series of limestone hills which are geological remnants of an ancient coral reef. Cracoe can also be seen as a township in Burnsall parish. It has a post office under the Skipton area. The Parish covers roughly 2,370 acres. The Parish has a population of 139 and has 32 houses.The parish also has a village hall.Cracoe was also the home of the original Calendar Girls, who raised money to support Leukaemia Research Fund, by posing for a nude calendar.On 5 July 2014, the Tour de France Stage 1 from Leeds to Harrogate passed through the village.

Rylstone railway station was a railway station that served the small village of Rylstone in North Yorkshire, England. It was built by the Yorkshire Dales Railway and operated by the Midland Railway. The station opened on 29 July 1902 with a station building that was to the same design as most of the stations on the Derwent Valley Light Railway.The station had just one platform with a through line, with a goods shed and cattle dock to the east side, and a passing loop to the north of the station.The LMS closed the station to passengers in 1930, but special 'tourist trains' ran to Grassington & Threshfield via Rylstone up until 11 August 1969. Rylstone station has been demolished, but the line is still open to Swinden Quarry.

The population of the civil parish as of the 2011 census was 160.Rylstone railway station opened in 1902, closed to passengers in 1930, and closed completely in 1969.The members of Rylstone and District Women's Institute were the inspiration for the 2003 film Calendar Girls, although the film was shot based in nearby Kettlewell. On 5 July 2014, the Tour de France Stage 1 from Leeds to Harrogate passed through the village.Rylstone is referenced in the poem entitled The White Doe of Rylstone by William Wordsworth.

Stirton with Thorlby is a civil parish in the Craven district of North Yorkshire, England. The parish includes the settlements of Stirton and Thorlby. The population at the 2011 census was 204, an increase on the 2001 census figure of 173.

St Peter's Church is in the village of Rylstone, North Yorkshire, England. It is an active Anglican parish church in the deanery of Skipton, the archdeaconry of Craven, and the Diocese of Leeds. Its benefice is united with that of St Wilfrid, Burnsall. The church is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II listed building.
