Emley Association Football Club is a football club based in Emley, West Yorkshire, England. They are currently members of Northern Counties East League Premier Division and play at the Welfare Ground.

Flockton is a village in Kirklees, West Yorkshire, England, halfway between Huddersfield, 7 miles (11 km) away and Wakefield, 8 miles (13 km) away. It is in the parish of Kirkburton and whilst it is in Kirklees, it has a Wakefield postcode. The name derives from Floki (an Old Norse person's name) and Tūn (which is Old English for enclosure or fence.The village is situated approximately 6 miles (10 km) east from Huddersfield and the same distance south-west from Wakefield. It has a population of 1,410 (2006 estimate). Flockton is a commuter village owing to the proximity of the M1 motorway. It extends along the A637 Barnsley Road which brings with it a large amount of traffic.Flockton is close to Grange Moor. To the west is Flockton Moor, an area containing mainly farm houses. Within the village is Parkside, an area of council housing with most houses terraced and of red-brick. In contrast there are stone-built private developments. House prices are above average for the area.Flockton contains a newsagent/convenience store, a hairdressing salon, a junior school, a working men's club, a motorcycle shop, a church, two public houses. The Dartmouth Arms public house was replaced by an Indian restaurant in October 2007. The George and Dragon public house (Now "Jack's") is one of the oldest pubs in England, dating from 1485.

Cuckoos Nest railway station is a station/halt on the Minimum Gauge Whistlestop Valley in West Yorkshire, Northern England. It also serves the village of Scissett, itself.

The Clayton West branch line was a standard gauge passenger and freight railway near Huddersfield, in West Yorkshire, England. The line was built by the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway, opening to traffic in September 1879. Many proposals were considered to extending the line eastwards towards Darton, and then connecting to Barnsley, but these never came to fruition. In 1963, both stations on the line, (Clayton West and Skelmanthorpe), were listed for closure under the Beeching cuts, but the branch survived as a passenger carrying railway until 1983. The branch also forwarded coal from two collieries adjacent to the line, which maintained a freight service on the branch up until closure.

The Flockton Collieries were small, shallow coal pits that exploited the coal seams north of the village of Flockton in the West Riding of Yorkshire, England. The coal seams, the Flockton Thick, which was up to 48 inches, and the Flockton Thin at about 15 inches, were named from where they outcropped.In the 17th century, coal master, Richard Carter who died around 1700, made his fortune from the pits, some of which he used to build the village's first church, almshouses and the school. The coal was sold locally until the River Calder was made navigable above Wakefield after 1758.

Flockton Green is a hamlet in the civil parish of Kirkburton, in the Kirklees district, in the county of West Yorkshire, England. It is immediately east of Flockton village, on the junction of the road from Overton with the A637 road between Grange Moor and West Bretton and close to the border of Kirklees and Wakefield districts. Flockton Green has a pub called The George and Dragon.

Skelmanthorpe railway station is a station in West Yorkshire, England, that was previously part of the national rail network, and is now a station on the minimum-gauge Whistlestop Valley.

Skelmanthorpe is a clustered village 8 miles (13 km) south-east of Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, England. According to the 2011 census, the village has 4,549 inhabitants.The village sits on the south (right) bank of the first river-like flow, from three small headwaters (uniting in the northwest corner of the parish), of the Dearne. It is part of the civil parish of Denby Dale in the Kirklees Borough, the main local authority.

Scissett is a village in West Yorkshire, England. It is 8 miles (13 km) south-east of Huddersfield and 10 miles (16 km) north-west of Barnsley. According to the 2001 census, the village had a population of 1,324. Scissett is halfway between the villages of Clayton West, Skelmanthorpe and Denby Dale on the A636 road to Wakefield. River Dearne runs through the village, which was affected by the 2007 United Kingdom floods. Scissett grew up around the woollen industry in the 19th century as mill owners built houses in the area for their workers. The nearby coalfields also provided employment. These industries are now gone and some of the mills are now retail units. The Scissett Baths (and leisure centre) is one of the main attractions for the surrounding area. Scissett has first and middle schools to provide education for children ages 4 to 13. Scissett Youth Band began life in the village in 1978 but moved to Shelley Methodist Hall in 1991.

Whistlestop Valley, formerly the Kirklees Light Railway, is a visitor attraction featuring a 3+1⁄2-mile (5.6 km) long 15 in (381 mm) gauge minimum gauge railway. The attraction's main site is in the village of Clayton West in Kirklees, West Yorkshire, England which was first opened to the public on 19 October 1991, with a second, smaller site in a rual area near the village of Shelley. The railway at Whistlestop Valley runs along the trackbed of the Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway's former branch line, from Clayton West via Skelmanthorpe to Shelley Woodhouse (a few yards close to the former Clayton West Junction 1⁄2 mile (0.8 km), near Shepley) on the Penistone line from Huddersfield to Sheffield via Penistone and Barnsley. From 1991 to 2021 the attraction was known as the Kirklees Light Railway. In June 2021, the attraction rebranded under the name Whistlestop Valley but retains the name Kirklees Light Railway for its 15 inch railway operation.

The Emley Moor transmitting station is a telecommunications and broadcasting facility on Emley Moor, 1 mile (1.6 km) west of the village centre of Emley, in Huddersfield West Yorkshire, England. It is made up of a 1,084 ft (330.4 m) concrete tower and apparatus that began to transmit in 1971. It is protected under UK law as a Grade II listed building. It is the tallest freestanding structure in the United Kingdom, and 24th tallest tower in the world. It was the seventh tallest freestanding structure and was fourth tallest tower in the European Union before Brexit. When built it was the sixth tallest freestanding structure in the world after the Ostankino Tower, the Empire State Building, 875 North Michigan Avenue (known as The John Hancock Center), the Berliner Fernsehturm and Tokyo Tower.The tower's current official name, The Arqiva Tower, is shown on a sign beside the offices at the base of the tower, but it is commonly known just as "Emley Moor".
