The University of Klagenfurt (German: Universität Klagenfurt or Alpen-Adria-Universität Klagenfurt, AAU) is a federal Austrian research university and the largest research and higher education institution in the state of Carinthia. It has its campus in Klagenfurt. Originally founded in 1970 and relaunched in 1993, the university today holds faculties of arts, humanities & education, management, economics & law, social sciences, and technical sciences. It is listed in the ARWU, THE, and QS global rankings and held rank 48 worldwide in THE's Young University Rankings 2021.The university has defined three research priority areas, Social Ecology (until 2018, transferred to BOKU Vienna), Networked and Autonomous Systems, and Multiple Perspectives in Optimization, with the former spawning three ERC Grants and the latter a doc.funds programme of the Austrian Science Fund. It has launched a new initiative, Humans in the Digital Age (HDA), in 2019, hosting an ERC Grant on cybersecurity. It also holds a number of central facilities such as the Robert Musil Institute (co-organizer of the Bachmann Prize), the Karl Popper Kolleg (an Institute for Advanced Study), the University Cultural Centre (UNIKUM), the build! Gründerzentrum (a start-up facilitation center), the University Sports Centre (USI), and the Klagenfurt University Library. Oliver Vitouch, a cognitive psychologist and former faculty member of the University of Vienna and the Max Planck Institute for Human Development in Berlin, is the university's Vice-Chancellor. Martin Hitz chairs the Academic Senate; Werner Wutscher, former Secretary General of the European Forum Alpbach, is chairman of the University Council. The University of Klagenfurt is situated 30 km from the Slovenian and 60 km from the Italian border and supports bi- and multilingualism, especially in the context of the Slovenian minority in Carinthia. Together with the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano (Italy) and the University of Fribourg (Switzerland), it is among the three southernmost universities in the German-speaking world.

Minimundus is a miniature park in Klagenfurt in Carinthia, Austria. It displays over 150 miniature models of architecture from around the world, built at a ratio of 1:25.

Viktring (Slovene: Vetrinj) is the 13th district of Klagenfurt, Carinthia, Austria.

Viktring Abbey (German: Stift Viktring, Slovene: Opatija Vetrinj) is a former Cistercian monastery in the Austrian state of Carinthia. Stift Viktring is now the name of the Roman Catholic parish in Viktring, since 1973 a district of the Carinthian capital Klagenfurt.

The BRG Klagenfurt-Viktring is a Bundesrealgymnasium in the 13th district of Klagenfurt (Viktring), Austria. Emphasis is placed on the musical education and in art education. In addition, there is also a branch with emphasis on science; this branch is also accessible to children whose residence lies outside of the 13th district of Klagenfurt, since the school year of 2007/08. The school is visited by approx. 1000 pupils. The majority travels each day by bus from all parts of Carinthia in order to receive an education with emphasis on music or the arts. The school building is a former monastery surrounded by a park, with ponds and some trees. There is also a church on the school grounds and a former Praelatur.

Klagenfurt am Wörthersee (German: [ˌklaːɡn̩fʊʁt ʔam ˈvœʁtɐzeː] (listen); Austro-Bavarian: Klognfuat; Slovene: Celovec), usually known as just Klagenfurt (English: KLAH-gən-foort), is the capital of the state of Carinthia in Austria. With a population of 103,009 (1 January 2022), it is the sixth-largest city in the country. The city is the bishop's seat of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Gurk-Klagenfurt and home to the University of Klagenfurt, the Carinthian University of Applied Sciences and the Gustav Mahler University of Music.

The Eboardmuseum, founded in 1987 by the musician, mathematics teacher and engineer Gert Prix, is a collection of electronic keyboard instruments. It very quickly outgrew the original venue and, in 2007, the collection was moved into a hall at the fair area in the centre of Klagenfurt am Wörthersee in Austria and is now considered to be the largest museum of its kind worldwide. In 2010, the Eboardmuseum was honored with the Austrian "Museumsguetesiegel" seal of quality. At the invitation of Google, the Eboardmuseum has been participating in the Music, Makers & Machines project as part of Google Arts & Culture since March 2021. As part of this project, it presents a small selection of its exhibits, accompanied by video examples.

The Faculty for Interdisciplinary Research and Continuing Education (IFF) is one of four Faculties at the University of Klagenfurt. The founding principle of the IFF is to link scholarship to contemporary social issues and problems. Reflecting this, the Faculty’s structure is built around the social field of the research rather than in line with individual scientific disciplines. Research work is focussed on questions concerning societies’ relationship with public goods such as health, environment, spatial resources, technology, education, science, politics and culture at large. Research, teaching and continuing education at the IFF pursue dual aims – one of which is social and the other scholarly. Interdisciplinarity and transdisciplinarity form the basis of both the theory and practice of the IFF’s research concept. This means that researchers from various disciplines, experts and actors from various professional fields work together in interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary projects and research areas focussing, among others, upon social, historical and systems science contexts. The projects are intervention-oriented. To intervene successfully, an understanding of the system- and organisational aspects of the problem is of central importance. Work undertaken by the Faculty therefore focuses upon encouraging well-reflected decision-making both in an individual and collective context. Concrete social problems and issues are addressed. The IFF contributes to the solution of problems facing societies on one hand through research and teaching and on the other through consulting, intervention and extramural continuing education activities.

Stadthalle is an indoor sporting arena located in Klagenfurt, Austria. The arena was built in 1959 and has a current capacity of 4,945. For the majority of its history the arena held around 5,500 people, however, due to small changes in recent years it has been continually reduced. It is currently home to the EC KAC ice hockey team

The World Bodypainting Festival is a bodypainting festival and competition which is held annually in Austria, since 2017 in Klagenfurt. It is attended by artists from 50 nations and attracts many thousands of spectators.

The Prince's Stone (German: Fürstenstein, Slovene: knežji kamen) is the reversed base of an ancient Ionic column that played an important role in the ceremony surrounding the installation of the princes of Carantania in the Early Middle Ages. After the incorporation into the Frankish Empire, the procedure, held in Slovene, was continued as the first part of the coronation of the Dukes of Carinthia. It was followed by a mass at Maria Saal cathedral and the installation at the Duke's chair, where he swore an oath in German and received the homage of the estates.

The Landhaus Klagenfurt (lit. 'Klagenfurt Country House') located between Heiligengeistplatz and Alter Platz on the edge of the oldest part of downtown Klagenfurt, Austria, is a historically significant secular building in the Carinthian capital of Klagenfurt. It was built between 1574 and 1594 as part of the city's expansion and fortification efforts, commissioned by the Carinthian Landstand. Today, the Landhaus remains a symbol of Carinthian history and tradition and serves as the seat of the Carinthian state parliament.
