Upper Roxborough Historic District is a national historic district located in Philadelphia and Whitemarsh Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. It encompasses 108 contributing buildings, 23 contributing sites, and 18 contributing structures in Upper Roxborough. The district includes a number of small scale farm and industrial workers' housing, estate houses, mill-owners' dwellings, and farm buildings. Notable buildings include the Shawmont Railroad Station (1834), Miquon Station (formerly Lafayette) designed by Frank Furness (1910), Riverside Paper Mills (c. 1720-1730), Hagy's Mill ruin, St. Mary's Church, and "Fairview" (c. 1856) and other buildings on the grounds of the Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education. The Roxborough Pumping Station (c. 1860) was also part of the district, but it was demolished in 2011 after sitting abandoned for over fifty years.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2001.

Miquon station is a suburban commuter railroad station on the SEPTA Manayunk/Norristown Line, located at River and Manor Roads in the Miquon section of Whitemarsh Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is the first station on the line outside Philadelphia. In FY 2013, Miquon station had a weekday average of 483 boardings and 452 alightings.The station is adjacent to a large office park (River Park I and II), which was redeveloped from a former paper mill in 1999. As of April 2013, parking includes about 60 spaces adjacent to the tracks along River Road, and 170 spaces in the River Park II lot; the latter lot has been shrinking in size due to the expansion of a private school (AIM Academy) which leased most of the River Park II complex beginning in 2011.The station building on the outbound side is leased to an outside party and does not currently sell tickets. There is a shelter on the inbound side; connecting the two platforms is an official pedestrian crossing. Miquon is expected to become a temporary turnback point for trains at times when the line is flooded by the Schuylkill River around Spring Mill and Conshohocken. A new remotely controlled interlocking has been built near the station for this purpose, as part of a project to install a modern cab signal system on the line.

Mill Creek is a 6.6-mile-long (10.6 km) tributary of the Schuylkill River in Lower Merion Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, United States.The north branch arises from a number of sources north of Lancaster Avenue (U.S. Route 30) in Villanova. The south branch arises near Ardmore, and has Trout Run as a major tributary. The two branches merge near the intersection of Old Gulph Road and Mill Creek Road, and the lower creek flows east to join the Schuylkill River just upstream of the Gladwyne interchange of the Schuylkill Expressway (Interstate 76 exit 337) and the Flat Rock Dam.Dove Lake is located beside the north branch of Mill Creek, just upstream of where Old Gulph Road crosses the creek at a ford. The ford has a gate, which is frequently closed when high water makes crossing it dangerous. The lower creek has some historic mills and related buildings on Mill Creek Road and nearby Rose Glen Road.Mill Creek Road follows the south branch of the creek from Montgomery Avenue near Ardmore to Old Gulph Road, and follows the lower creek to River Road by the Schuylkill River. The road is mostly on the right bank, with two crossings near the junction with the north branch.

The Miquon School is an independent, parent-owned, elementary school located in Whitemarsh on the suburban outskirts of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Miquon is a small, unincorporated community in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. Located partly in Whitemarsh Township and partly in Springfield Township, it lies between the Roxborough section of Philadelphia and the Spring Mill section of Whitemarsh Township. Its borders are, roughly, Barren Hill Road, Ridge Pike, Manor Road, and the Schuylkill River. The sections of Miquon along the river and west of Harts Lane share the 19428 zip code with Conshohocken. The section east of Harts Lane shares the 19444 zip code with Lafayette Hill. The name “Miquon” comes from the language of the Lenni-Lenape people, who were the original inhabitants. The notable Battle of Barren Hill during the Revolutionary War began just east of Miquon (on May 20, 1778): When set upon by some 16,000 British troops, the Marquis de Lafayette and his 2,200 Continental troops eluded capture by retreating through Miquon, across the river, and back to their camp at Valley Forge. In the 19th century, Miquon became a center of the papermaking industry. The W. C. Hamilton Paper Company operated its mills along the river there until the mid 20th century. In 1999, the former mill buildings were redeveloped into an office complex (named River Park I and River Park II). In 2012, River Park II became the campus of AIM Academy, a private secondary school. The tracks of the old Reading Railroad run through Miquon along the Schuylkill River. In around 1880, that railroad opened a passenger station in Miquon, at Manor Road, known as Lafayette Station. The design of the building that housed that station is attributed to the architect Frank Furness. It remained the local passenger railroad station until 1910, and the building still stands today.Miquon’s current local passenger railroad station, built around 1910 (and renamed “Miquon Station” in 1921) is located to the southeast of the old station building; the old Reading Railroad tracks now carry the Manayunk/Norristown Line.

Lafayette Hill is a small unincorporated community in primarily Whitemarsh Township, Montgomery County in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. A small part of it is in Springfield Township. Lafayette Hill is located just west of Philadelphia's Chestnut Hill neighborhood, and south of Plymouth Meeting. Lafayette Hill draws its name from the French General Marquis de Lafayette, who stayed there during the American Revolution. Before the general decampment from Valley Forge in the spring of 1778, George Washington dispatched an estimated 2,200 troops under the command of Marquis de Lafayette to act as a defensive screen and to conduct reconnaissance of the British army, which had garrisoned in Philadelphia for the winter. The two forces had a brief engagement at nearby Barren Hill. Lafayette Hill is an area with many parks and nature reserves. It is home to a Jewish community and Catholic population anchored by St. Philip Neri Church, Congregation Or Ami, and Whitemarsh Valley Country Club. Many people commute to Philadelphia to work. Its main transit system is SEPTA. Lafayette Hill is home to the Barren Hill Volunteer Fire Company, one of the oldest fire companies in the area. It was founded after a fire destroyed a farm along with several livestock in 1915. Currently, Barren Hill Fire Company has roughly 400 to 500 calls for service each year. Their 1977 firehouse is located on 641 Germantown Pike. Whitemarsh Township is also served by the Spring Mill Fire Company. Lafayette Hill is served by the Colonial School District. Shawmont is a former train station in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It is located on Nixon Lane in the Roxborough section of Lower Northwest Philadelphia. Built by the Philadelphia, Germantown and Norristown Railroad, it later became part of the Reading Railroad and ultimately SEPTA Regional Rail's R6 Norristown Line. SEPTA made the station a whistle stop and closed its waiting room in 1991. SEPTA later closed the station in 1996. In 2018, $1 million was set aside for repairs and rehabilitation.

Cedar Crest – originally known as "Dolobran II", and recently as "Linden Hill" – is a French-Norman-style mansion and estate at 1543 Monk Road in Gladwyne, Pennsylvania. Located on a hill overlooking the Schuylkill River, it was designed by architect Edmund B. Gilchrist, 1928–31. Best known as the former residence of Campbell's Soup-heir John T. Dorrance, Jr., it is a contributing property in the Mill Creek Historic District.

The Battle of Barren Hill was a minor engagement during the American Revolution. On May 20, 1778, a British force attempted to encircle a smaller Continental force under the Marquis de Lafayette. The maneuver failed, with the Continentals escaping the trap, but the British took the field.

Its transmitter is off Wigard Avenue near the Schuylkill River in the Roxborough section of Philadelphia. WUSL broadcasts in the HD Radio hybrid format. Its HD2 digital subchannel plays Spanish-language contemporary hits.

WRNB (100.3 FM) is a commercial radio station licensed to Media, Pennsylvania in the Philadelphia/Delaware Valley radio market. It is owned by Radio One and airs an urban adult contemporary radio format. In afternoon drive time, WRNB carries the syndicated D. L. Hughley Show. WRNB's studios and offices are in the Two Bala Plaza building on City Line Avenue in Bala Cynwyd. WRNB has an effective radiated power (ERP) of 17,000 watts. The transmitter is located in the Roxborough neighborhood of Philadelphia at (40°2′36.0″N 75°14′32.0″W). The station is short-spaced with two other co-channel FM stations (see See § Signal note below). WRNB broadcasts in the HD Radio hybrid format, with its HD-2 subchannel airing the urban contemporary format that moved from its main signal, and the HD-3 subchannel airing an urban contemporary gospel format.
