The National Deaf Federation Nepal (NDFN; Nepali: राष्ट्रिय बहिरा महासंघ नेपाल(ne)) is a non-governmental organization established and run as the umbrella organization for Nepal's various district and local deaf associations. Previously it was known as the National Federation of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (NFDH). It is a member of the World Federation of the Deaf (WFD) and works as an advocate for deaf rights, as well as running a number of programs throughout the country to improve the lives of Nepal's deaf population. Two of the core areas in which it works are sign language and deaf education. NDFN has worked on publishing a "Dictionary of Nepali Sign Language", and continues to collect and create signs for supplements to this dictionary. It also has trained and sent deaf sign language instructors to teach Nepali Sign Language to deaf who otherwise have no exposure to sign language. In the area of deaf education, it works closely with the Ministry of Education, the Department of Education, the Curriculum Development Center, and the various deaf schools in order to improve the quality of deaf education in Nepal.

Lazimpat (Nepali: लाजिम्पाट) is a residential area of Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal. It is close to the Narayanhity Palace, and is well known in Kathmandu for its hotels, restaurants, schools, colleges, embassies and department stores. The neighborhood's name derives from Lazimpat Durbar, that lies in its vicinity and was converted into Hotel Shanker.Lazimpat shares one border with Thamel, a popular tourist hub, and another with Baluwatar, a reputed residential area where the Prime Minister, Chief Justice, and the Chairman of Constitution Assembly reside. Lazimpat is just 20 minutes away from what is downtown of Kathmandu, Newroad and Ason. There has been a recent upsurge in the construction activity in the region. Lazimpat boasts the only road connecting the northern part of the Kathmandu valley with the southern part. The roads are very busy, yet until a few years back, there was not much economic activity in the region. Luxury hotels, photo studios, department stores and corner shops have been a special feature of Lazimpat. It is centrally located and is also home to or nearby various embassies.. Sarashwoti Mandir, Dayashwor Mahadev mandir are situated in the lazimpat. There are many hotels, such as Hotel Shanker and Radisson Hotel Nepal, restaurants and sweet shops situated in Lazimpat among various shopping outlets. Embassies & Diplomatic Missions in Lazimpat include the Indian Embassy, the British Embassy, the Israeli Embassy, the French Embassy and the Delegation of the European Union to Nepal and also some Nepalese governmental offices, such as the Inland Revenue Department have their premises in the neighborhood. Hom Bahadur Bagale was a police sub-inspector in Nepal Police serving from 13 February 1984. He had been serving as a technical sub-inspector in the police band. He was accused of stealing gold from his superior. Bagale was detained without being presented to court within 24 hours. He was kept in custody handcuffed and was forced to wear a hood and placed in solitary confinements. He was captured and tortured on 28 Nov 2002, he managed to escape and then he was again taken to Armed Police Battalion on 5 February 2003 and detained until 3 April 2003. He was further detained on 20 March 2006 at the Armed Police Battalion No. 1 until 22 March 2006 and then he was detained and brought to the police facility at Hanumandhoka where he was held till March 28, 2006. He was tortured and ill-treated. His tortures and captivity were ruled illegal by the court. Concerns of his safety was raised by international organizations and the wider public.

Kathmandu, officially Kathmandu Metropolitan City, is the capital and most populous city of Nepal with 845,767 inhabitants living in 105,649 households in 2021 and 2.9 million people in its urban agglomeration. It is located in the Kathmandu Valley, a large valley in the high plateaus in central Nepal, at an altitude of 1,400 metres (4,600 feet). The city is one of the oldest continuously inhabited places in the world, founded in the 2nd century AD. The valley was historically called the "Nepal Mandala" and has been the home of the Newar people, a cosmopolitan urban civilization in the Himalayan foothills. The city was the royal capital of the Kingdom of Nepal and hosts palaces, mansions and gardens built by the Nepali aristocracy. It has been home to the headquarters of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) since 1985. Today, it is the seat of government of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal, established in 2008, and is part of Bagmati Province. Kathmandu is and has been for many years the centre of Nepal's history, art, culture, and economy. It has a multi-ethnic population within a Hindu and Buddhist majority. Religious and cultural festivities form a major part of the lives of people residing in Kathmandu. Tourism is an important part of the economy in the city. In 2013, Kathmandu was ranked third among the top ten upcoming travel destinations in the world by TripAdvisor, and ranked first in Asia. The city is considered the gateway to the Nepal Himalayas and is home to several World Heritage Sites: the Durbar Square, Swayambhu Mahachaitya, Bouddha and Pashupatinath. Kathmandu valley is growing at 4 percent per year according to the World Bank in 2010, making it one of the fastest-growing metropolitan areas in South Asia, and the first region in Nepal to face the unprecedented challenges of rapid urbanization and modernization at a metropolitan scale. It is the largest metropolitan area located in the Himalayas.

Gairidhara (Nepali: गैह्री धारा) is a residential area of Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal. It borders the Narayanhity Palace, Lazimpat and Baluwatar and is just 20 minutes away from what is known as the downtown of Kathmandu, Newroad and Ason. The Narayanhiti Palace Museum (Nepali: नारायणहिटी दरवार) is a public museum in Kathmandu, Nepal located east of the Kaiser Mahal and next to Thamel. The museum was created in 2008 from the complex of the former Narayanhiti Palace (or Narayanhiti Durbar) following the 2006 revolution. Before the revolution, the palace was the residence and principal workplace of the monarch of the Kingdom of Nepal, and hosted occasions of state.The existing palace complex was built by King Mahendra in 1963, and incorporates an impressive array of courtyards, gardens and buildings.

The Nepali royal massacre occurred on 1 June 2001 at the Narayanhiti Palace, the then-residence of the Nepalese monarchy. Nine members of the royal family, including King Birendra and Queen Aishwarya, were killed in a mass shooting during a gathering of the royal family at the palace. A government-appointed inquiry team named Crown Prince Dipendra as perpetrator of the massacre. Dipendra slipped into a coma after shooting himself in the head.Dipendra was declared King of Nepal while comatose after the death of King Birendra. He died in hospital three days after the massacre without regaining consciousness. Birendra's brother Gyanendra then became king.

Shree Sadan (Nepali: श्री सदन) is a three-storey cottage used by King Birendra and his family.Shree Sadan was opened to the public in November 2020. It spans over 754 ropanis of land.

The Embassy of India in Kathmandu is the diplomatic mission of the Republic of India to the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal.

Baneshwor (Nepali: बानेश्वर) is the largest residential area of Kathmandu, Nepal. The area is composed of New-Baneshwor, Mid-Baneshwor, and Old-Baneshwor, Baneshwor Height, Minbhawan, Shankhamul, Bhimsengola and Thapa Gaun.. Major landmarks of Baneshwor include the current meeting place of the Federal Parliament of Nepal, the [[International Convention Centre, Nepal|International Convention Centre]]. Maitighar Mandala is located at the southern border of the neighborhood. Baneshwor is undoubtedly the most developed place in Nepal as it is the central hub of many businesses and opportunities. It is regarded as the land of opportunities by Nepali people. The Tribhuvan Sadan (Nepali: त्रिभुवन सदन) is a mansion in the Narayanhiti Palace, Kathmandu, Nepal. It is known for being the site of the Nepalese royal massacre where ten members of the royal family, including King Birendra, Queen Aishwarya, and Crown Prince Dipendra were killed. The mansion was formerly occupied by King Tribhuvan and his family and later by Dipendra, Crown Prince of Nepal. The Tribhuvan Sadan was demolished after the orders of the Queen Mother Ratna however It is currently being reconstructed.

Naag Pokhari (Nepali: नाग पोखरी) meaning snake's pond is a historic artificial pond located in the eastern side of the royal palace, Kathmandu. The pond was constructed in the 17th century by Queen Subarna Prabha. The pond is 125 ft long, 65 ft wide and has a depth of about 7 ft. It has a park around it. A tall statue of golden snake is mounted at the center of the pond. The pond is used to celebrate Naga Panchami and has religious significance for the Hindus.
