Schuylkill River

The first USS Rush (SP-712) was a United States Navy patrol vessel in commission during 1917. Rush was built as a private motorboat of the same name by Baker's Yacht Basin at Quincy, Massachusetts. On 1 May 1917, the U.S. Navy acquired her from her owner, N. H. White of Brookline, Massachusetts, for use as a section patrol boat during World War I. She was commissioned as USS Rush (SP-712) in 1917. Rush was assigned to patrol duty in the 4th Naval District. On 8 December 1917, Rush was on a voyage from Boston, Massachusetts, to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, when she struck a submerged log at the entrance to the back channel of League Island Navy Yard in Philadelphia and was wrecked. All hands were saved. Much of Rush's equipment was salvaged, but she was finally declared a total loss on 12 December 1918. R. B. Scott of Philadelphia purchased her hulk in 1921, but she does not appear ever to have been seaworthy again.

Philly Shipyard, formerly Aker Philadelphia Shipyard, is a commercial shipyard located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States on part of the site of the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard. The commercial yard began after the United States Navy had ended most of its operations at the site. The yard is a listed company on the Oslo Stock Exchange and part of the Aker Group controlled by Kjell Inge Røkke. The yard targets producing ships within the Jones Act for domestic shipping, primarily product tankers and container ships.

The Girard Point Bridge is a double-decked cantilevered truss bridge carrying Interstate 95 across the Schuylkill River in the American city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The bridge was opened in 1973. It is the last crossing of the Schuylkill River, which empties into the Delaware River less than half a mile downstream. It has an has an average of 148,500 vehicles per day, including 6% truck traffic.

USS Forrest Sherman (DD-931) was the lead ship of her class of destroyer of the United States Navy. She was named for Admiral Forrest Sherman USN (1896–1951).

USNS Mohawk (T-ATF-170) is a Powhatan-class tugboat owned by the United States Navy that was in service from 1980 to 2005 with the Military Sealift Command before being placed in reserve during 2005. Mohawk was laid down on 23 March 1979 by the Marinette Marine Corporation at Marinette, Wisconsin. Launched on 5 April 1980, and delivered to the U.S. Navy on 16 October 1980, Mohawk was assigned to the Military Sealift Command (MSC), and placed in non-commissioned service as USNS Mohawk (T-ATF-170) in 1980. Mohawk is equipped with a 10-long-ton (10 t) capacity crane and a bollard pull of at least 54 long tons (55 t). A deck grid was fitted aft which contained 1-inch (25 mm) bolt receptacles spaced 24 inches (610 mm) apart. That allowed for the bolting down of a wide variety of portable equipment. There are two GPH fire pumps supplying three fire monitors with up to 2,200 US gallons of foam per minute (0.14 m3/s). A deep module can be embarked to support naval salvage teams. Mohawk was taken out of service on 16 August 2005 and placed in reserve in the Inactive Reserve Fleet at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

USNS Joshua Humphreys (T-AO-188) is a Henry J. Kaiser-class replenishment oiler of the United States Navy. She was named for Joshua Humphreys, who designed the six original US Navy frigates. She entered service in 1987 and was placed in reserve just nine years later, but has twice been brought out of reserve and as of 2015 is once more on active duty.

The Battle of Gloucester was a skirmish fought between November 25, 1777 and the early morning of November 26, 1777, during the Philadelphia campaign of the American Revolutionary War. It was the first battlefield command for the Marquis de Lafayette.

The Battle of Red Bank was a battle fought on October 22, 1777 during the American Revolutionary War in which a British and Hessian force was sent to take Fort Mercer on the left bank (or New Jersey side) of the Delaware River just south of Philadelphia, but was decisively defeated by a far inferior force of Colonial defenders. Although the British did take Fort Mercer a month later, the victory supplied a sorely-needed morale boost to the American cause, delayed British plans to consolidate gains in Philadelphia, and relieved pressure on General George Washington's army to the north of the city.

The Red Bank Battlefield is located along the Delaware River in National Park, Gloucester County, New Jersey, United States. It was the location of the Battle of Red Bank in the American Revolutionary War on October 22, 1777. Fort Mercer and its sister, Fort Mifflin in Pennsylvania, defended the river and prevented the British from using it for transportation. The forts successfully delayed the British, but in the end, they were both destroyed or abandoned. Today the site of the Battle of Red Bank still has the trenches and cannons used by the 100 American soldiers fighting against 2000 British and Hessian soldiers. The Whitall House is an original home that was there during the battle and was used as a field hospital. It is open for tours today. The site is a part of the Gloucester County Parks system called Red Bank Battlefield Park.

USS John F. Kennedy (CV-67) (formerly CVA-67), the only ship of her class, is an aircraft carrier of the United States Navy. Considered a supercarrier, she is a variant of the Kitty Hawk-class, and the last conventionally powered carrier built for the Navy, as all carriers since have nuclear propulsion. The ship was named after John F. Kennedy, the 35th President of the United States. John F. Kennedy was originally designated a CVA, for fixed wing attack carrier, however the designation was changed to CV, for fleet carrier. After nearly 40 years of service, John F. Kennedy was officially decommissioned on 1 August 2007. She is berthed at the NAVSEA Inactive Ships On-site Maintenance facility in Philadelphia, formerly the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard, and, until late 2017, was available for donation as a museum and memorial to a qualified organization. In late 2017, the Navy revoked her "donation hold" status and designated her for dismantling.She has been succeeded by the Gerald R. Ford-class aircraft carrier Pre-Commissioning Unit John F. Kennedy (CVN-79), laid down in July 2015, launched in October 2019, and scheduled to enter service in 2024.

James Whitall Jr. House is located in National Park, Gloucester County, New Jersey, United States. The house was built in 1766 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places on February 6, 1973.

The first USS Canon (PGM-90/PG-90) was a Asheville-class gunboat in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. She is currently on donation hold.Canon was laid down by the Tacoma Boatbuilding Company, Tacoma, Washington on 28 June 1966, and commissioned 24 June 1967. Canon served off the coast of Vietnam as part of Operation Market Time. In one operation the ship took 8 rocket hits and 14 crew members wounded. One Navy Cross, three Silver Stars and five Bronze Stars were awarded to members of the crew.Canon was decommissioned on 31 January 1977. She is currently on donation hold, and is berthed at the Naval Inactive Ship Maintenance Facility in Philadelphia, PA, while a group in Wisconsin works to bring her to Sheboygan, Wisconsin. Canon has been identified as pending dismantling by the 2015 US Navy 30 year Shipbuilding Plan.
