Ladywood House is a residential apartment skyscraper in Portsmouth, England. When completed in 1971, it was the tallest building in the city, until 2005 when it was surpassed by Spinnaker Tower.

The Portsmouth and Southsea Synagogue, also known as the Portsmouth (and Southsea) Hebrew Congregation, is an Orthodox Jewish synagogue located in Elm Grove, Southsea in Portsmouth, England. It is one of the oldest Jewish congregations in England. It was founded c. 1747 and had a rabbinate of its own. During the Napoleonic wars, the commercial activity of Portsmouth as a garrison and naval town attracted a large number of Jews. In 1780, a synagogue was built in White's Row. In 1850 the synagogue was redecorated and in 1876 renovated.

St John's College was a private day and boarding school located in Southsea, Hampshire, England. It was founded by the De La Salle brothers in 1908. In May 2022, the Governors announced that the school would not re-open for the academic year starting that September, citing declining student numbers, under-investment and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic as the causes. In August 2022, St John's College appointed administrators and went into liquidation. The head of the college at the time of closure was Mary Maguire. The college has several notable alumni, known as Old Johannians, including the Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales Lord Burnett of Maldon, England footballer Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and BBC newsreader George Alagiah.

St Jude's Church, Southsea is a Church of England church in Southsea, Hampshire, built in 1851 by Thomas Ellis Owen as part of a housing development. It was Grade II listed in 1972.

The Kings Theatre is a theatre in Southsea, Portsmouth, designed by the architect Frank Matcham. It opened on 30 September 1907. It is operated by the Kings Theatre Trust Ltd. The building was designated a Grade II* listed building in 1976.

Portsmouth & Southsea railway station is a Grade II listed building and the main railway station in the city of Portsmouth in Hampshire, England. It is in the Landport area close to the Commercial Road shopping area. British Transport Police maintain a presence at the station. There is a taxi rank at the front of the building and regular local buses within five minutes' walking distance. The station, which is managed by South Western Railway, has ticket barriers in operation.

The fortifications of Portsmouth are extensive due to its strategic position on the English Channel and role as home to the Royal Navy. For this reason, Portsmouth was, by the 19th century, one of the most fortified cities in the world. The fortifications have evolved over the centuries in response to changes in tactics and technology and the area defended has increased. While the first defences focused on Portsmouth harbour, in step with the fortifications of Gosport, later defensive structures protected the whole of Portsea Island and an increasing distance inland. At the same time, the fortifications of Portsmouth and Gosport became part of the wider fortifications of the Solent. Old Portsmouth, on the southwest corner of Portsea Island, has been walled for much of its history.
