Llanganten

Cilmeri railway station is a railway station serving the village of Cilmeri, in Powys, mid Wales. It is situated on the Heart of Wales Line 59+1⁄2 miles (95.8 km) southwest of Shrewsbury and was opened in 1867. The station is located in a rural setting just to the south of the A483.

Cilmeri (; also spelled as Cilmery) is a village and community in Powys, mid-Wales, United Kingdom in the historic county of Brecknockshire, two and a half miles west of Builth Wells on the A483 to Llandovery. The village is served by Cilmeri railway station on the Heart of Wales Line. In the 2001 census, Cilmeri Community had a population of 438 and 191 households. The population at the 2011 had fallen slightly to 431. The community includes the settlement of Llanganten and a small part of Builth Wells west of the River Ithon. The village is famous for being close to the spot where the last native prince of Wales from the Royal House of Aberffraw, Llywelyn ap Gruffudd, was either killed in action or captured alive and subjected to summary execution by the soldiers of King Edward Longshanks, on 11 December 1282. A memorial stone to Llywelyn ap Gruffudd was erected on the site in 1956 and serves as the focal point for an annual ceremony of remembrance by Welsh nationalists on the anniversary of his death.

Builth Road railway station is a station primarily serving the town of Builth Wells, in mid Wales. It is on the Heart of Wales Line. The station is over two miles (about 3.5 km) northwest of Builth Wells via the A470, a busy trunk road. The hamlet of Builth Road has developed around the station.

The Battle of Orewin Bridge (also known as the Battle of Irfon Bridge) was fought between English (led by the Marcher Lords) and Welsh armies on 11 December 1282 near Builth Wells in mid-Wales. It was a decisive defeat for the Welsh because their leader, Llywelyn ap Gruffudd was killed, and this effectively ended the autonomy of Wales.

Cors y Llyn National Nature Reserve can be found about 2.5 kilometres south of Newbridge on Wye, off the A470 road in mid-Wales. The bogs and open water at the centre of the reserve are enclosed by a band of trees, which are surrounded by an area of pasture. The meadow at the site's entrance is one of the richest in wild flowers in Mid Wales.

Builth Wells F.C. is a Welsh football club based in Builth Wells, Powys. They are currently playing in the Ardal NE League. The club is the most successful club in the history of the Mid Wales South Football League, with ten championship wins. The club's reserve team currently plays in this league.

The Builth Wells television relay station is sited on high ground to the north of the town of Builth Wells in Powys, South Wales. It was originally built in the 1980s as a fill-in relay for UHF analogue colour television. It consists of a 25 m self-supporting lattice mast standing on a hillside which is itself about 230 m above sea level. The transmissions are beamed southwards. The Builth Wells transmission station is owned and operated by Arqiva. Builth Wells transmitter is classed as an indirect off-air relay of Carmel. It re-radiates a signal received off-air from Llandrindod Wells about 12 km to the north, which itself is a direct off-air relay of Carmel. When it came, the digital switchover process for Builth Wells duplicated the timing at Carmel with the first stage taking place on 26 August 2009 and with the second stage being completed on 23 September 2009. After the switchover process, analogue channels had ceased broadcasting permanently and the Freeview digital TV services were radiated at an ERP of 5 W each.

Builth Wells Hospital (Welsh: Ysbyty Llanfair ym Muallt) was a heath facility in Bronllys, Wales. It was managed by Powys Teaching Health Board.

Builth Wells (; Welsh: Llanfair-ym-Muallt ) is a market town and community in the county of Powys and historic county of Brecknockshire (Breconshire), mid Wales, lying at the confluence of rivers Wye and Irfon, in the Welsh (or upper) part of the Wye Valley. In 2011 it had a population of 2,568.

Colwyn was, from 1894 to 1974, a rural district in the administrative county of Radnorshire, Wales. The district was formed by the Local Government Act 1894, when the existing Builth Rural Sanitary District was divided into two: the section in Breconshire was reconstituted as Builth Rural District and that in Radnorshire as Colwyn Rural District. The new district took its name from the ancient hundred of Colwyn. The council continued to be based in Builth Wells in Breconshire. The rural district comprised ten civil parishes: The district was abolished in 1974 under the Local Government Act 1972, which completely reorganised local administration in England and Wales. Its area became part of the District of Radnor in the new county of Powys.

Duhonw is a rural community in Powys, Wales, to the south of Builth Wells (Welsh: Llanfair ym Muallt), in the historic county of Breconshire. Covering an area of 4,376 hectares (16.90 sq mi) and including scattered farms and dwellings, it is bounded to its north by the Afon Irfon, to its south by Mynydd Epynt and Banc y Celyn (472m) and to its east the rivers Duhonw and Wye (Afon Gwy). Llangammarch Wells' (Welsh: Llangamarch) is to its west. Its population was 294, according to the 2011 census; a 2% fall since the 300 people noted in 2001. The 2011 census showed 14.6% of the population could speak Welsh, a rise from 9.2% in 2001. Duhonw Community Council was created following a 1985 review by the Local Government Boundary Commission for Wales, amalgamating the four small communities of Llanddewi'r Cwm, Llangynog, Llanynis and Maesmynis. Duhonw is part of the Sennybridge Training Area, and is listed as a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
