The Chapel of Simon of Cyrene is a Catholic chapel belonging to the Franciscans in the Old City of Jerusalem. The place marks the fifth station of Via Dolorosa, and refers to the biblical episode in which Simon of Cyrene takes Jesus' cross, and carries it for him. Although this narrative is included in the three Synoptic Gospels, the Gospel of John does not mention Simon of Cyrene but instead emphasizes the portion of the journey during which Jesus carried the cross himself. The current traditional site for the station is located at the east end of the western fraction of the Via Dolorosa, adjacent to the Chapel of Simon of Cyrene, a Franciscan construction built in 1895. An inscription, in the architrave of the main entrance from the Via Dolorosa, bears the inscription "[line 1] Simoni - Cyrenaeo [line 2] Crux Imponitur" references the Synoptic events. Prior to the 15th century, this location was instead considered to be the House of the Poor Man, and honoured as the fifth station for that reason; the name refers to the Lukan tale of Lazarus and Dives, this Lazarus being a beggar, and Dives being the Latin word for [one who is] Rich. Adjacent to the alleged House of the Poor Man is an arch over the road; the house on the arch was thought to be the corresponding House of the Rich Man. The houses in question are believed to date to the Middle Ages.

The Church of Our Lady of Sorrows (Hebrew: כנסיית גבירתנו הדואבת), or the Church of Sorrows of Mary also called the Armenian Chapel of Our Lady of the Spasm, is an Armenian Catholic church building in the Old City of Jerusalem erected in 1881.Located at the fourth station on the Via Dolorosa, under the Arc Ecce Homo, not far from the Austrian Hospice in the Muslim Quarter of the Old City of Jerusalem, it commemorates Jesus' encounter on the way to his crucifixion with his mother. The building includes a chapel dedicated to the Virgin Mary, and is thus named in dedicated to her under the title Our Lady of Sorrows. As the seat of the Armenian Catholic Patriarchal Exarchate of Jerusalem and Amman of the Armenian Catholic Church, an Eastern Catholic particular church sui iuris in full communion with the Pope in Rome, and the Catholic Church, the church building holds the status of cathedral. The facility is also the Armenian hospice in Jerusalem. It is a World Heritage Site of UNESCO since 1981.

The Armenian Catholic Patriarchal Exarchate of Jerusalem and Amman (colloquially Jerusalem of the Armenians) is the missionary pre-diocesan jurisdiction of the Armenian Catholic Church sui iuris (Eastern Catholic, Armenian Rite in Armenian language) in the Holy Land (Palestine/Israel) and (Trans)Jordan. It is directly dependent on the Armenian Catholic Patriarch of Cilicia, not part of his or any ecclesiastical province. Its Cathedral episcopal see is a World Heritage Site: the Church of Our Lady of Sorrows, Jerusalem.

The Via Dolorosa (Latin, 'Sorrowful Way', often translated 'Way of Suffering'; Arabic: طريق الآلام; Hebrew: ויה דולורוזה) is a processional route in the Old City of Jerusalem. It represents the path that Jesus would have taken, forced by the Roman soldiers, on the way to his crucifixion. The winding route from the former Antonia Fortress to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre — a distance of about 600 metres (2,000 feet) — is a celebrated place of Christian pilgrimage. The current route has been established since the 18th century, replacing various earlier versions. It is today marked by fourteen Stations of the Cross, nine of which are outside, in the streets, with the remaining five stations being currently inside the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.

The Church of the Holy Family (Hebrew: כנסיית המשפחה הקדושה, Latin: Ecclesia Sanctae Familiae, German: Kirche der Heiligen Familie) also known as the Chapel of the Holy Family, is a Catholic church building located in the Austrian Hospice in the Old City of Jerusalem. The church building originated as a pilgrim hostel of the Catholic Church created in 1853 by the Austrians in Jerusalem (Österreichisches Hospiz zur Heiligen Familie). The chapel of the complex was ceremonially consecrated 19 March 1863 by the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem Giuseppe Valerga, open to pilgrims of the Latin rite.The liturgical organ of the chapel was built in 1910 by the Rieger organ manufacturer of Jägerndorf (now Krnov) in the Czech Republic (in 1910 in Austria-Hungary).

The Austrian Pilgrim Hospice to the Holy Family (German: Österreichisches Pilger-Hospiz zur Heiligen Familie in Jerusalem, Hebrew: ההוספיס האוסטרי של המשפחה הקדושה, Arabic: التكية النمساوية للعائلة المقدسة) is a pilgrims hostel of the Austrian Catholic Church in the Old City of Jerusalem. It is located at the corner of Via Dolorosa and el-Wad Street in the Muslim Quarter, at the third station of the Way of the Cross. Markus Stefan Bugnyar has been rector of the hospice since 2004. Founded in 1856 and opened on 19 March 1863, the hospice is the oldest national pilgrim house in the Holy Land. The Church of the Holy Family is located inside the main building.

Haseki Sultan Imaret was an Ottoman public soup kitchen established in Jerusalem to feed the poor during the reign of Suleiman the Magnificent. The imaret was part of a massive Waqf complex built in 1552 by Haseki Hürrem Sultan, better known in the West as Roxelana, the favorite wife of Sultan Suleiman I. This soup kitchen was said to have fed at least 500 people twice a day.

The Muslim Quarter (Arabic: حَـارَة الـمُـسْـلِـمِـيْـن Ḥāraṫ al-Muslimīn; Hebrew: הרובע המוסלמי Ha-Rovah ha-Muslemi) is one of the four sectors of the ancient, walled Old City of Jerusalem. It covers 31 hectares (77 acres) of the northeastern sector of the Old City. The quarter is the largest and most populous of the four quarters and extends from the Lions' Gate in the east, along the northern wall of the Temple Mount in the south, to the Damascus Gate—Western Wall route in the west. The Via Dolorosa starts in this quarter. The population of the Muslim Quarter is 22,000.

The Convent of the Sisters of Zion is a Roman Catholic convent of the Congregation of Notre-Dame de Sion, located near the eastern end of the Via Dolorosa in the Old City of Jerusalem. The convent was built in 1857 by Marie-Alphonse Ratisbonne. The site includes the Church of Ecce Homo, also known as the Basilica of Ecce Homo, named for Pontius Pilate's Ecce homo speech which is traditionally thought to have taken place on the pavement below the church.

The Struthion Pool, effectually translated from the Greek as 'Sparrow Pool' (Aramaic: אשווח צפרא) is a large cuboid cistern beneath the Convent of the Sisters of Zion in the Old City of Jerusalem, built by Herod the Great in the first century BCE.

The Church of the Condemnation and Imposition of the Cross (Hebrew: קפלת ההרשעה וכפיית הצלב) is a Roman Catholic church located within the Franciscan monastery that also contains the Church of the Flagellation in the old city of Jerusalem. The monastery stands at the traditional Second Station of the Cross on the Via Dolorosa.

Studium Biblicum Franciscanum (English: Franciscan Biblical Studies) is a Franciscan academic society based in Jerusalem. It is a center of biblical and archaeological research and studies.
