Morris Plains Schools

Morris Plains Station is a NJ Transit station in Morris Plains, in Morris County, New Jersey, United States, along the Morristown Line at Route 202 (Speedwell Ave/Littleton Rd) in downtown Morris Plains. It is a local station. The former Lackawanna station was built in 1915 and has a brick station house. It was designed by architect Frank J. Nies who built other stations for the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western Railroad. Unlike most of his stations which tended to resemble massive cathedrals, Morris Plains station was built as a simple one-story structure, which also contains a unique Spanish tile roof. An old train station just to the north now serves as The Morris Plains Model Railroad Club. The station was added to the National Register of Historic Places on June 22, 1984, along with over 100 other stations within the state as part of the Operating Passenger Railroad Stations Thematic Resource. Now trains passing through Morris Plains go to NY Penn Station, Hackettstown Station, Dover Station and Hoboken Terminal. The train station is served by the M&E (Morris and Essex Line) Trains

The William G. Mennen Sports Arena, commonly referred to as Mennen Arena, is a multi-purpose arena in Morris Township, New Jersey primarily used for ice hockey and other skating activities. The building houses three regulation-sized ice rinks. The main rink has seating for 2,500 spectators.

Speedwell Ironworks was an ironworks in Speedwell Village, on Speedwell Avenue (part of U.S. Route 202), just north of downtown Morristown, in Morris County, New Jersey, United States. At this site Alfred Vail and Samuel Morse first demonstrated their electric telegraph. Speedwell Ironworks also provided most of the machinery for the SS Savannah, the first steamship to cross the Atlantic Ocean. The site is still open to the public, and has seven buildings on display. The site, now named Historical Speedwell, is a historic site of the Morris County Park Commission. It was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1974.

Morris Plains is a borough in Morris County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. As of the 2020 United States census, the borough's population was 6,153, an increase of 621 (+11.2%) from the 2010 census count of 5,532, which in turn reflected an increase of 296 (+5.7%) from the 5,236 counted in the 2000 census.Morris Plains was incorporated as a borough by an act of the New Jersey Legislature on March 15, 1926, from portions of Hanover Township, based on the results of a referendum held on April 15, 1926. The Cutler Homestead is a historic house located at 21 Cutler Street in the town of Morristown in Morris County, New Jersey. Originally built in 1799 by Joseph Cutler for Silas Condict, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places on March 10, 1975, for its significance in architecture, law, and politics/government.

It was established in 1999 with the merger of the Morris-Sussex Area Council (1936–1999) and the Watchung Area Council (1926–1999). On February 6, 2014, Patriots Path Council absorbed several Scouting units from the dissolved Central New Jersey Council (1999-2014).

The Morris School District is a comprehensive community public school district that serves students in pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade from three municipalities in Morris County, New Jersey, United States. The communities in the district are Morristown and Morris Township, along with students from Morris Plains in grades 9-12 who attend the district's high school as part of a sending/receiving relationship with the Morris Plains Schools.As of the 2018–19 school year, the district, comprising 10 schools, had an enrollment of 5,216 students and 441.4 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 11.8:1.The district is classified by the New Jersey Department of Education as being in District Factor Group "GH", the third-highest of eight groupings. The Community School's summer program, Summer Plus, provides children with a local alternative to summer camp.

Morristown Jewish Center Beit Yisrael (acronym MJCBY) is a Conservative Jewish congregation and synagogue located in Morristown, New Jersey. It was formally incorporated in 1899, while its building was constructed in 1929.MJCBY is affiliated with Conservative Judaism although originally having started as an Orthodox congregation. It is the oldest active congregation in Morristown, having a significant historic Jewish community during its era of peak significance.

WMTR (1250 AM) is an American radio station owned by Beasley Broadcast Group. It is licensed to Morristown, New Jersey and serves Morris County and surrounding areas. The station features "The Morning Team" featuring Alan David Stein, Ginny Otte for middays, and Rich DeSisto for afternoon drive. From July through December 2008, WMTR employed a satellite oldies format, playing music from mostly 1964 to 1979. The Classic Oldies format was reinstated after Christmas. WMTR's core artists include Beatles, Elvis Presley, Four Seasons, Beach Boys, Martha And The Vandellas, Everly Brothers, Three Dog Night, Ricky Nelson, Rolling Stones, Spinners, Lesley Gore, Fats Domino, Supremes, Four Tops, Bee Gees, Association, Buddy Holly, Young Rascals, and many more.

Morristown High School (MHS) is a four-year public high school serving students in ninth through twelfth grades from three communities in Morris County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey, operating as part of the Morris School District. The school serves students from Morristown and Morris Township, along with students from Morris Plains, who attend the district's high school as part of a sending/receiving relationship with the Morris Plains Schools. The school has been accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Elementary and Secondary Schools since 1952.As of the 2021–22 school year, the school had an enrollment of 1,820 students and 136.5 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 13.3:1. There were 207 students (11.4% of enrollment) eligible for free lunch and 34 (1.9% of students) eligible for reduced-cost lunch.MHS receives students from Frelinghuysen Middle School, Morris Plains Borough School, and several public and private middle schools.
