Hoylake railway station

Hoylake Town Hall is a former municipal building in Market Street in Hoylake, a town in Merseyside, in England.

Hoylake is a seaside town in the Metropolitan Borough of Wirral, Merseyside, England. It is at the north west of the Wirral Peninsula, near West Kirby and where the River Dee meets the Irish Sea. Historically part of Cheshire, the Domesday Book of 1086 recorded it within the Hundred of Wilaveston. At the 2001 census, the population of Hoylake was 5,710 of a total population of 13,042, as part of the Hoylake and Meols local government ward. By the time of the 2011 census specific population figures for Hoylake were no longer maintained. The total population for the Hoylake and Meols Ward at this census was 13,348.

Hoylake Urban District was an urban district in Cheshire, England. It was formerly known as West Kirby and Hoylake Urban District (1894–97), then Hoylake and West Kirby Urban District (1897–1933). It was the local authority for the towns of Hoylake and West Kirby, in the north-west of the Wirral Peninsula. Several civil parishes of the disbanded Wirral Rural District were added in 1933. These were: Caldy, Frankby, Grange, Greasby and part of Saughall Massie.In 1898 a new town hall and council offices opened on Market Street, Hoylake. After the abolition of the local authority, the building was retained for community use. As of 2024 it is being redeveloped as part of The Beacon project, consisting of apartments, retail units, an arts centre and cinema.The coat of arms of Hoylake were granted on 1 November 1960 and included two golf clubs on the shield, representing the Royal Liverpool Golf Club.On 1 April 1974, under the Local Government Act 1972, the urban district was abolished and its area absorbed into the Metropolitan Borough of Wirral of the metropolitan county of Merseyside.

The church is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II listed building.

Holy Trinity Church was an Anglican church in the seaside town of Hoylake, Wirral, England, until its demolition in 1976. It was consecrated on 1 November 1833, and in 1860 it became the Parish Church of Hoose, Little Hoose and Great Hoose. During its lifetime, two daughter churches were built, the nearby St Hildeburgh's, which is now used as the parish church for Hoylake, and St John's, now the parish church for Meols. Well-known former choristers include, Heather Slade-Lipkin - harpsichordist, Pete Price - local radio presenter and DJ, and David Hale - judge.

The 1967 Open Championship was the 96th Open Championship, played from 12 to 15 July at Royal Liverpool Golf Club, Hoylake. Roberto De Vicenzo, 44, won his only major championship, two strokes ahead of runner-up and defending champion Jack Nicklaus.This was the last year until 1986 in which The Open had a single cut at 36 holes. From 1968 through 1985, a second cut was made after 54 holes.The PGA Championship was played the next week near Denver, Colorado, one of five times in the 1960s that these two majors were played in consecutive weeks in July. This was the last Open at Hoylake for 39 years, until 2006.

The 2012 Ricoh Women's British Open was held 13–16 September at Royal Liverpool Golf Club in Merseyside, England. It was the 36th Women's British Open, and the 12th as a major championship on the LPGA Tour. It was scheduled later in the year due to the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. Jiyai Shin won her second Women's British Open, nine strokes ahead of runner-up Inbee Park. Weather was a factor, as the second round on Friday was halted before 8:30 a.m. due to high winds. The scores were thrown out and the round was restarted on Saturday, with the final two rounds played on Sunday.

The 47th Walker Cup Match was played 7 and 8 September 2019 at Royal Liverpool Golf Club, Hoylake, Merseyside, England. Royal Liverpool hosted the 1983 Walker Cup. The United States won by 15½ points to 10½. They trailed 7½ to 8½ coming in to the final day singles but won 8 of the 10 matches to win convincingly.

The 1924 Open Championship was the 59th Open Championship, held 26–27 June at Royal Liverpool Golf Club in Hoylake, England. Walter Hagen won the second of his four Open Championships, one stroke ahead of runner-up Ernest Whitcombe. It was the fifth of Hagen's eleven major championships. Two years earlier in 1922, he became the Open's first winner born in the United States.

Hoylake Parade Community Centre is a multi-purpose public building located in Hoylake, Wirral, which serves as a community centre for the local area.

Hoylake Lifeboat Station is located on the North Parade promenade in the town of Hoylake on the Wirral Peninsula in Merseyside. A lifeboat was first stationed at Hoylake by the Liverpool Dock Trustees in 1803. The station was transferred to the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) in 1894.
