Clifton East was one of the thirty-five council wards in Bristol, England. As the name suggests, the ward covered the eastern part of the Clifton area of Bristol. The ward ceased to exist in May 2016 following a boundary review. It was mostly replaced by a new ward called Clifton Down, with the south-west corner of Clifton East being moved into the neighbouring ward of Clifton.” Many students lived in Clifton East. 30% of the population is aged 20–24, compared with a national average of 9%.Notable places in the Clifton East ward include Clifton Down railway station and Clifton Pool and The Victoria Public House. Running down the length of the ward is Whiteladies Road, which includes many shops and offices, as well as some houses. The property numbering is unusual in that even numbers are on the left, and odds on the right, heading out from the city centre, contrary to usual practice. The ABC Cinema on Whiteladies Road was converted into offices and gymnasium in the 1990s but there are now plans to re-open it as a cinema. Just off Whiteladies Road, the Clifton Lido was built in 1850 but closed to the public in 1990; it was redeveloped and opened again to the public in November 2008.Bristol City Council changed the layout of Whiteladies Road in 2011–12, affecting traffic and pedestrians and causing controversy amongst local campaigners.

The Whiteladies Picture House (grid reference ST576742) is a cinema on Whiteladies Road in Clifton, Bristol, England. It was built in 1920–1921 by James Henry LaTrobe and Thomas Harry Weston (1870–1923) and opened by the Duchess of Beaufort on 29 November 1921. It formerly had a ballroom, billiard room and restaurant but in 1978, it became a three screen cinema rather than having a single screen. As part of the ABC chain, the cinema was eventually absorbed by Odeon, in a merger undertaken by the private equity firm Cinven. With another Odeon nearby on Broadmead's Union Street, the decision was taken to close down and sell the Whiteladies in 2001 with a restrictive covenant forbidding its future use as a cinema.The cinema has been designated by English Heritage as a grade II listed building. While the front section of the building has been divided off to create a restaurant, the majority of the building, including the main auditorium, balcony and ballroom, remained empty since its closure in 2001 until its reopening in 2016. The building was allowed to deteriorate and was on Bristol City Council's "at Risk" register, deeming it to be in danger of being lost due to lack of use, under-use, disrepair, or dereliction. Several plans were put forward to redevelop the building. The most recent planning application to convert the building into a gym and flats was rejected by Bristol City Council, went to appeal and was finally defeated in March 2013.In November 2010 a not-for-profit company, Whiteladies Picture House Ltd, was set up by Alan Mandel Butler and David Fells (manager of the local Redgrave Theatre) to raise awareness of the building and its history and to begin the journey of raising the necessary capital to reopen the Picture House as a mixed-use venue with a 450-seat theatre and a 200-seat cinema.The company reached out to the local community to aid in its campaign and were instrumental in blocking the planning application to convert the building into a gym and flats and bringing the building back into the public eye. In 2013, Alan Mandel Butler left the company to pursue other projects and David Fells began working with Jonathan Lees Architects to develop plans to preserve the existing historic fabric of the building, including the original Art Deco auditorium.It is currently operated by Everyman Cinemas. It is the company's first branch in Bristol and it opened on 20 May 2016. The redevelopment also includes five new flats on the upper floor, where the ballroom and billiards room used to be.In May 2022, the cinema closed for expansion into the former restaurant next door. It reopened in June with a larger foyer and a fourth, 37-seat screen.

Tyndale Baptist Church is a Baptist church in Whiteladies Road, Redland, in Bristol, England. The church was founded in 1869, following an initiative by Broadmead Baptist Church to establish a church to serve the growing population of Redland. Funds to build the new church were raised by a committee chaired by E. S. Robinson, founder of the paper and packaging business E. S. & A. Robinson, and mayor of Bristol in 1866. The first minister was the Revd Richard Glover (1837–1919), President of the Baptist Union in 1884 and active in promoting the work of the Baptist Missionary Society. Glover served the church until 1911.Several members of the church were prominent in Bristol public life. The first Lord Mayor of Bristol in 1899, Sir Herbert Ashman, was baptized by Glover. Edward Robinson, a son of E. S. Robinson, was Lord Mayor in 1908. Charles Townsend, M.P. for Bristol North from 1892 to 1895, was church secretary for more than 20 years.

Cabot was a council ward that covered the centre of Bristol, England. It took its name from the Cabot Tower, a memorial tower on Brandon Hill that was built to commemorate John Cabot's voyage and "discovery" of North America. The ward was abolished in 2016.

BBC Radio Bristol is the BBC's local radio station serving the former county of Avon which is composed of the unitary authorities of Bath and North East Somerset, Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire. It broadcasts on FM, DAB, digital TV and via BBC Sounds from studios at Broadcasting House in Bristol. According to RAJAR, the station has a weekly audience of 107,000 listeners and a 3.0% share as of December 2022.

The BBC campus, Broadcasting House Bristol, is located on Whiteladies Road, Bristol. The first building to be occupied was 21/23 Whiteladies Road, which was built in 1852 and is a Grade II listed building, with four radio studios. It was formally opened by the Lord Mayor of Bristol on 18 September 1934. The BBC has been on the same site ever since. It was made public in May 2021 that the BBC Studios production base, incorporating the Natural History Unit and Factual Entertainment, will be moving to a new site called Bridgewater House at Finzels Reach in Bristol city centre.

The BBC Studios Natural History Unit (NHU) is a department of BBC Studios that produces television, radio and online content with a natural history or wildlife theme. It is best known for its highly regarded nature documentaries, including The Blue Planet and Planet Earth, and has a long association with David Attenborough's authored documentaries, starting with 1979's Life on Earth. The Natural History Unit is a specialist department within BBC Studios Productions. Each year it produces around 100 hours of television and 50 hours of radio programmes, making it the largest wildlife documentary production house in the world. The BBC commissions programmes from the Unit for broadcast on five terrestrial television channels (BBC One, BBC Two, BBC Four, CBBC and CBeebies) and BBC Radio 4. It also makes programmes for other broadcasters and services including Apple TV+, Warner Bros. Discovery, National Geographic Global Networks and NBC Universal. Content is marketed internationally under the BBC Earth brand. Original content is also broadcast on the Earth Unplugged YouTube channel.The Unit has been based in Broadcasting House, Bristol since its formation in 1957, and has been headed by Julian Hector since 2016.

St Paul's Church, on St Paul's Road, Clifton, is an Anglican parish church and was formerly the University of Bristol Church, in the City Deanery of the Diocese of Bristol. The church is one of two in the Benefice of St Paul's and Cotham, David Stephenson, inducted as vicar of the Benefice in 2018, is the current incumbent. The current building largely dates from 1867, when it was rebuilt following a fire, using a variety of stones. The architect was Charles Hansom, who lived locally at the time, following his work on Clifton College. Hansom was able to retain the tower and spire by Manners and Gill from the original building. The church is listed Grade II and is notable for its stained glass windows and mosaics lining the walls, and especially the reredos. In March 2012 the church was awarded a grant from English Heritage to repair the roof. A major factor in this, according to English Heritage, is that the mosaics and windows are of national importance.

The Church of All Saints is a Church of England parish church in Clifton, Bristol. The church is a grade II listed building. It is located in the Parish of All Saints with St. John Clifton in the Diocese of Bristol.
