Vevey

Corsier-sur-Vevey is a municipality in the district of Riviera-Pays-d'Enhaut in the canton of Vaud in Switzerland.

Vevey District was a district in the canton of Vaud in Switzerland. The seat of the district was the city of Vevey. It has been dissolved on 1 January 2008 and merged into the new Riviera-Pays-d'Enhaut district.

It is listed as a heritage site of national significance.

The Musée Jenisch is a museum of fine arts and prints at Vevey in Vaud in Switzerland. It was set up on 10 March 1897, thanks to a legacy of 200,000 francs from Fanny Henriette Jenisch (1801–1881), wife of Martin Johann Jenisch (de), a senator of Hamburg. It was designed in the neo-classical style by the architect Louis Maillard and Robert Convert.

Vevey railway station (French: Gare de Vevey) is a public transport hub not far from the shore of Lake Geneva. It serves the municipality of Vevey, in the Canton of Vaud, Switzerland. SBB-CFF-FFS passenger trains call here while operating on the lakeside section of the standard gauge Simplon railway line. The station is also the western terminus of the standard gauge Chemin de fer Vevey-Chexbres to Puidoux-Chexbres on the Olten–Lausanne railway line, and a metre gauge line from Vevey to Blonay and Les Pléiades.

The Hôtel des Trois Couronnes is a hotel in Vevey, Switzerland. It was built in 1842 on the ruins of the "Belles Truches" castle, built in 1376 (1). This building once destroyed left the place to a hotel built by Philippe Franel and inaugurated on May 3, 1842 (3) under the name "Hôtel Monnet" (3), the name of its owner back then. Gabriel Monnet named it "Trois Couronnes" because he owned an inn of the same name, also situated on Vevey's Rue du Simplon (4). Originally built with a direct access to Lake Geneva, the building lost it in 1863 with the construction of the lakeside promenade. In 1890, several transformations occurred: two annexes were added to the main building, as well as a ballroom in the west wing and a new residential area in the east wing (5). The building is registered as a cultural property of national value (6). It was entirely renovated in 2000 and since 2003 is a Swiss historical hotel (7). Among the many celebrities who stayed at the hotel, three crowned heads allowed the hotel property to justify its name: Queen Olga of Greece, the Maharajah Holkar of Indore and King William III of the Netherlands (8). Inspired by the hotel's intrigue, the writer Henry James wrote his short story Daisy Miller.

The Manoir de Ban, or Champ de Ban Estate Manor, is a manor house located at Corsier-sur-Vevey on the banks of Lake Geneva in Switzerland. The property is known for having been Charlie Chaplin's home for 25 years, from 1952 until his death in 1977. It houses a museum dedicated to the life and work of its former owner, named Chaplin's World, which opened in April 2016 after 15 years in development.The manor is listed as a heritage site of Swiss Inventory of Cultural Property of National Significance.

Fork of Vevey (French: La Fourchette de Vevey) is an 8-metre-tall (26 ft), 1.3-metre-wide (4.3 ft) stainless steel fork on the shore of Lake Geneva in Vevey, Switzerland. Fork of Vevey is a part of the Alimentarium, a Vevey-based museum with a permanent exhibition on food and Nestlé's history.The fork was initially created in 1995 by the Swiss artist Jean-Pierre Zaugg to mark the Alimentarium's tenth anniversary. The fork was removed in 1996 but reinstated about a decade later, following a public petition. The Alimentarium claims that the Fork of Vevey is the world's largest fork, and since 2014 the Guinness Book of World Records has listed it as such, but there is a larger fork (11 metres (36 ft) long) in Springfield, Missouri, and an even larger one (12 metres (39 ft) long) in Creede, Colorado.

The Fête des Vignerons (Winegrowers' Festival) is a traditional festival which takes place in Vevey, in Switzerland. It has been organised by the Confrérie des Vignerons (Brotherhood of Winegrowers) in Vevey since 1797. The organising committee is free to choose how often the festival takes place, but the idea is that it is held once in a generation. Up to now, the interval between two festivals has varied between 14 and 28 years. The most recent festival took place in July and August 2019, 20 years after the preceding one (1999).The festival features a show celebrating the world of winemaking; performances take place in the Vevey marketplace on the shores of Lake Geneva, and other festivities are organised around the town. Since 2016, the Fête des Vignerons has been included in UNESCO's intangible cultural heritage.The 2019 edition of the festival was recommended as one of National Geographic's "world's most exciting destinations", one of The New York Times's "places to go in 2019" and was listed in The Guardian's "Where to go in 2019" list.

Aile Castle is a castle in the municipality of Vevey of the Canton of Vaud in Switzerland. It is a Swiss heritage site of national significance.
