Jing'an District

The Ohel Rachel Synagogue (Hebrew for "Tent of Rachel") is a Sephardi synagogue in Shanghai, China. Built by Sir Jacob Elias Sassoon in memory of his wife Rachel, it was completed in 1920 and consecrated in 1921. Ohel Rachel is the largest synagogue in the Far East, and one of the only two still standing in Shanghai. Repurposed first under the Japanese occupation during World War II and again following the Communist conquest of Shanghai in 1949, the synagogue has been a protected architectural landmark of the city since 1994. It was reopened for some Jewish holidays from 1999 and briefly held more regular Shabbat services as part of the 2010 Shanghai Expo.

Plaza 66 (Chinese: 上海恒隆广场) is a commercial and office complex in Shanghai, consisting of a shopping mall and two skyscrapers. The shopping mall has 5 levels with a total area of over 50,000 square metres. Tower One is 288 metres (945 ft) high and was completed in 2001, while Tower 2 is 228 metres (748 ft) high and was completed in 2006. Tower One is currently the 7th tallest skyscraper in Shanghai and the fourth tallest building in the Puxi area. It is located at 1266 Nanjing Road West and has 66 floors. The project was developed by Hang Lung Properties of Hong Kong, led by Ronnie Chan. The buildings were designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox (KPF) architects from New York. The lead designer for KPF was James von Klemperer and the manager in charge of the project was Paul Katz. The building got third most votes in the 2001 Emporis Skyscraper Award selection.

The Shanghai Children's Hospital (simplified Chinese: 上海市儿童医院; traditional Chinese: 上海市兒童醫院; pinyin: Shànghǎi Shì Értóng Yīyuàn), founded in 1937 as the Underprivileged Children's Hospital, is the first children's hospital in China, and a prominent comprehensive hospital specialized in children's diseases. It is a teaching hospital affiliated with Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine.

The Moller Villa (Male zhuzhai, 马勒住宅), located at .30 South Shanxi Road in the French Concession area of Shanghai, China, is a colonial-era mansion. The villa was built by Eric Moller, a Swedish shipping magnate, in 1936. The distinctive design includes brown-tiled Gothic and Tudor gables, spires, and steeples. In 2001, the Hengshan Group began to renovate to the villa, preserving its original architectural style. The building now houses a hotel.

Shanghai Centre (Chinese: 上海商城; pinyin: Shànghǎi Shāngchéng) is located on West Nanjing Road, Jing'an District, Shanghai. It is a comprehensive building complex consisting of three towers rising from an eight-storey base. Designed by John C. Portman, Jr., the Shanghai Centre was one of the first contemporary skyscrapers to be built in Shanghai. It occupies a prestige location, across West Nanjing Road from the Russian neo-classical style Shanghai Exhibition Centre complex, with whose central axis the Shanghai Centre's central axis is aligned. The whole complex hosts 472 apartment units, 30,000 sq. meters of high-end office area, a supermarket, three stories of luxury department stores, the Shanghai Centre Theatre, a Trading Exhibition Centre, and a 5-star hotel (The Portman Ritz Carlton Shanghai, named after the architect). The complex opened in April, 1990, and it consists of three towers and several accessory buildings. The eight-storey pedestal building fronts onto West Nanjing Road. The building's frontage is not aligned with the street: in order to align the central axis with that of the Shanghai Exhibition Centre on the other side of West Nanjing Road (the main frontage of which in turn faces, and therefore is aligned with, Yan'an Road), the Shanghai Centre was built at an angle to West Nanjing Road. The three towers are arranged symmetrically "rising" out of the pedestal: one at the centre and towards the back, and two symmetrically to the left and right, further to the front. The three towers have similar profiles, with a memorable feature being a slight widening of the long side of each tower towards the top, giving each tower a profile reminiscent of traditional Chinese monumental stelae or towers.

The Shanghai Exhibition Centre (Chinese: 上海展览中心; pinyin: Shànghǎi Zhǎnlǎn Zhōngxīn) or the Shanghai Exhibition Hall (Chinese: 上海展览馆; pinyin: Shànghǎi Zhǎnlǎn Guǎn; Shanghainese: Zånhae Zuelae Gue) is an exhibition and convention centre in central Shanghai. The building was built in 1955 as the Sino-Soviet Friendship Building (Chinese: 中苏友好大厦) to commemorate the alliance between China and the Soviet Union, a name by which many locals still refer to the building. Reflecting its original name, the design draws heavily on Russian and Empire style neoclassical architecture with Stalinist neoclassical innovations. The building is a major landmark in Shanghai. At 93,000 square metres, it is one of the largest integrated building complexes in central Shanghai by footprint. At 110.4 metres (to the top of spire), it was for decades (1955–1988) the tallest building in Shanghai. Its main frontage, an open quadrangle with an elaborate central tower, faces Yan'an Road, today the main east-west artery across central Shanghai, while its secondary façade, a colonnade, faces West Nanjing Road, one of the premier retail and commercial streets of Shanghai.

Cha House is a building in Shanghai, People's Republic of China. The building was constructed in 1920 and was owned and used by two brothers, Qiu Xinshan and Qiu Weiqing, who were businessmen in the dye industry at that time. The Qius' residence originally comprised two blocks, the East Block and West Block. The West Block was demolished for the reconstruction of Minli Middle School, while the East Block was used as the office building of the school. In 2002, HKR International (HKRI) acquired the land-use right of Dazhongli, on which the building was located. Afterwards, the building was moved from its previous location to the current one and now forms part of the HKRI Taikoo Hui.

West Nanjing Road Station (Chinese: 南京西路; pinyin: Nánjīng Xī Lù) is a virtual interchange station between Lines 2, 12 and 13 of the Shanghai Metro, located along one of Shanghai's main commercial streets, with a number of international flagship stores situated nearby. This station, known as Shimen No. 1 Road station (simplified Chinese: 石门一路; traditional Chinese: 石門一路; pinyin: Shímén Yī Lù) before October 2006, is part of the initial section of Line 2 that opened from Zhongshan Park to Longyang Road that opened on 20 September 1999. The station changed into its current name in October 2006 according to the new convention to name metro stations after famous streets or sights nearby rather than the vertical street neighbouring the station, making it easier for visitors to find these places. The connection with lines 12 and 13 opened on 19 December 2015. At present it is a virtual interchange station meaning passengers need to exit the station to transfer to other lines and only those with 1- or 3-day passes or Shanghai Public Transport Cards (SPTC) are not charged for such transfers, provided SPTC users transfer within 30 minutes. The station is planned to become a physical interchange station in the upcoming years.

Shanghai Dong Hai Plaza (Chinese: 东海广场) is a skyscraper in Shanghai, China. It is 217 metres (712 ft) tall and has 52 floors. The tower was completed in 2004 after a long period on hold, construction having started in 1994.

Jing An Kerry Centre, or Jing'an Kerry Centre, is an integrated commercial complex situated at No. 1515 Nanjing Road West in Jing'an District, Shanghai, China. The complex comprises three skyscrapers: Towers 1,2, and 3. Tower 1 stands at 132.8 meters (436 ft) tall, Tower 2 is 260 meters (850 ft) tall, and Tower 3 is 197.8 meters (649 ft) tall. The 450,000-square-meter (4,800,000 sq ft) complex features an 86,000 m2 (930,000 sq ft) retail space, 152,000 m2 (1,640,000 sq ft) of office space, the Jing An Shangri-La, 18,000 m2 (190,000 sq ft) (133 units) of residential space, and a 136,000 m2 (1,460,000 sq ft) underground car park with 1,340 parking spaces. As of 2020, Tower 2 is the 24th tallest building in Shanghai, and Tower 3 is the 77th tallest building.

HKRI Taikoo Hui (Chinese: 興業太古滙; pinyin: Xīngyè Tàigǔ Huì) is a mixed use development on West Nanjing Road in Shanghai, China. It comprises two office towers, a large retail mall, 102 serviced apartments and a 111-room hotel called The Middle House. In late 2017, Starbucks opened a 30,000 square feet (2,800 m2) Reserve Roastery at the project, the largest Starbucks branch in the world at the time.

The Shanghai Natural History Museum (Chinese: 上海自然博物馆; pinyin: Shànghǎi Zìrán Bówùguǎn; Shanghainese: Zånhae Zyzoe Pohvehguoe) is a museum dedicated to natural history in the city of Shanghai. It is one of the largest museums of natural sciences in China. Formerly housed in the Shanghai Cotton Exchange Building, the museum was moved to a purpose-built site in the Jing'an Sculpture Park in 2015.
