The Buenos Aires City Legislature (Spanish: Legislatura de la Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires, commonly known as the Legislatura Porteña) is a central part of the Government of the City of Buenos Aires, Argentina. It is housed in the Legislature Palace (Spanish: Palacio de la Legislatura), an architectural landmark in the city's barrio of Montserrat.

The Buenos Aires Legislature Palace (Spanish: Palacio de la Legislatura de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires) houses the Legislature of the City of Buenos Aires, Argentina. It is an architectural landmark in the city's Montserrat district, situated in a triangular block bounded by the streets Hipólito Yrigoyen Street, Presidente Julio A. Roca Avenue and Perú Street. Built of grey granite, it has a Neoclassical design. The building is open to the public on week-days only. The building contains the Esteban Echeverría Library, Salón Rosado (also known as the "Eva Perón Hall"), and a carillon which, when it was installed in 1930, was the largest in South America.

A la Ciudad de Londres was a traditional European department store, which operated in Buenos Aires from 1872 to 1922. It was the first large clothing store established in the city of Buenos Aires towards the end of the 19th century.

The Pirámide de Mayo (Spanish pronunciation: [piˈɾamiðe ðe ˈmaʝo]; English: May Pyramid), located at the hub of the Plaza de Mayo, is the oldest national monument in the City of Buenos Aires. Its construction was ordered in 1811 by the Primera Junta to celebrate the first anniversary of the May Revolution. It was renovated in 1856, under the direction of Prilidiano Pueyrredón. In 1912, after having undergone many modifications, it was moved 63 metres (68.9 yards) to the east, with the idea that a much larger monument would eventually be constructed around it. The monument is crowned by an allegory of Liberty, the work of the French sculptor Joseph Dubourdieu. From the ground to the peak of the statue's Phrygian cap, the Pyramid measures 18.76 metres (61.5 feet).

The Buenos Aires Metropolitan Cathedral (Spanish: Catedral Metropolitana de Buenos Aires) is the main Catholic church in Buenos Aires, Argentina. It is located in the city center, overlooking Plaza de Mayo, on the corner of San Martín and Rivadavia streets, in the San Nicolás neighbourhood. It is the mother church of the Archdiocese of Buenos Aires and the primatial church of Argentina. The Cathedral of Buenos Aires was rebuilt several times since its humble origins in the 16th century. The present building is a mix of architectural styles, with an 18th-century nave and dome and a severe, 19th-century Neoclassical façade without towers. The interior keeps precious 18th-century statues and altarpieces, as well as abundant Neo-Renaissance and Neo-Baroque decoration.

The Grand Hotel (Spanish: El Grand Hotel), Buenos Aires was a building that occupied the corner of Rivadavia and Florida streets in Buenos Aires. One of the most luxurious hotels at the turn of the 20th century, it welcomed personalities from politics and culture, taking advantage of its central location. It was demolished in the 1960s, and in its place the Palacio de las Sociedades Anónimas (Palace of Joint-Stock Companies) was constructed.

Saint Ignatius' Church (Spanish: Iglesia de San Ignacio) is a Roman Catholic church situated at the Illuminated Block, in Buenos Aires's neighbourhood of Montserrat. The first building, which was made of adobe, was built by the Society of Jesus in 1675. The southern tower and the present facade were built in 1686, and the rest of the Church construction started in 1712. Today's church was completed in 1722 and consecrated in 1734.Saint Ignatius is the oldest church preserved in Buenos Aires, and was declared a National Historic Monument in 1942. On June 16, 1955, during a government campaign against the Church, after a failed revolution against Juan Domingo Perón government, Peronist mobs burnt most churches of Buenos Aires, including Saint Ignatius.

The Revolution of 11 September 1852 was a conflict between the Province of Buenos Aires and the government of Justo José de Urquiza after the latter triumphed over Juan Manuel de Rosas at the Battle of Caseros. A period known as "National Organization" was initiated after the Battle of Caseros. Every political faction agreed on authorizing a national Constitution. However, in opposition to the rest of the country, the ruling upper class in Buenos Aires aspired to impose political requirements on the Argentine provinces, so as to maintain the traditional political and economic preeminence of the capital city. The result was a ten-year separation between the Argentine Confederation and the State of Buenos Aires. Both states claimed to be part of a single nation. But in reality, they behaved like separate states.

Buenos Aires City Hall (Spanish: Palacio Municipal de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires; lit. "Municipal Palace") was, until 2015, the seat of the Office of the Chief of Government of Buenos Aires, the capital city of Argentina. From its construction in 1914 to the reformation of the city's constitution in 1996, the building was the seat of the City Municipality. It faces the Plaza de Mayo, across from the Casa Rosada presidential palace, in the barrio of Monserrat. Since 2015, the Office of the Chief of Government has been located at a new building in the barrio of Parque Patricios. The City Hall still houses various government offices of the city government.
