Glasgow Inner Ring Road

The A728 is a route number in Glasgow, Scotland applied to two connected roads. The eastern branch, known as the Glasgow East End Regeneration Route runs from Polmadie to the Forge Shopping Centre in Camlachie in the east of the city. The first phase was opened in 2011 with the second phase opened in mid-2012; these two phases are officially known as the A728 Clyde Gateway. An extension to junction 13 of the M8, which is also the terminus of the M80, was planned as well, for construction in 2018. After delay, it was scrapped in 2021 due to climate concerns.The western branch of the route runs from the Albert Bridge near the city centre, where it meets the A8 and A74, and converges with the other branch near Toryglen Park in Polmadie. Both branches continue along the same road south towards King's Park.\ in the south of the city.

The Forge Shopping Centre (or Parkhead Forge) is in the East End of Glasgow, in Parkhead. The shopping centre bore the name from the former William Beardmore and Company steel works site, which had closed in 1983.

Greencity Wholefoods is a worker co-operative wholefoods wholesaler in Glasgow, Scotland. The co-operative was founded in 1978 in Hillington, in the outskirts of Glasgow before moving in 1983 to its current location in Dennistoun in the city's East End. In 2019 the co-operative reported an annual turnover of £7.7 million and has 54 employee-members.As a worker co-operative the business is directly owned and controlled by its workers through a directly elected management committee and quarterly general meetings. The co-operative operates a flat wage structure, with every member paid the same hourly wage, alongside a flat management structure and a system of rotating the co-operative's directly elected managers. Greencity has many similarities with Suma, a worker co-operative in West Yorkshire, and stocks many Suma brand products. The co-operative delivers goods across Scotland, except for the Highlands and Islands which are covered by Greencity's sister co-operative Highland Wholefoods Workers Co-operative which Greencity helped establish in 1989.

Haghill is a residential neighbourhood in Glasgow, Scotland. It is situated in the east end of the city, north of the River Clyde. The housing includes tenements (from the 1900s and the 1930s), former council houses and several more recently constructed homes. It is bordered by Alexandra Park to the north (with Riddrie beyond), Carntyne to the east, Dennistoun to the west and Parkhead to the south. Administratively, it falls within the Dennistoun ward of Glasgow City Council since a 2017 boundary re-assessment, having been in the East Centre ward for the decade prior. The red sandstone building of the local primary school sited off Walter Street, which opened in 1904 and closed a century later, were still standing in 2020 but had been allowed to fall into a state of dilapidation.Glasgow Kelvin College has a modern campus in Haghill, located off Duke Street. The district sports centre (Glasgow Club Haghill) is on the area's other main thoroughfare, Cumbernauld Road (a continuation of Alexandra Parade), along with Parkhill Secondary School - once known as Kennyhill School - a facility for children with special educational needs.Alexandra Parade and Duke Street railway stations are both located immediately west of Haghill; the tracks of the North Clyde Line on which both stations lie is generally considered to form the boundary with Dennistoun. Several buses run along both roads between Glasgow city centre and its eastern suburbs.

Vinegarhill was a location in Glasgow, Scotland, that served as a residence and place of business for travelling communities from all over the United Kingdom and beyond. All types of travellers resided there. The site of Vinegarhill, in the old weaving village of Camlachie in the east end of Glasgow, is now occupied by the Forge Retail Park. There is some debate as to why the area was referred to as Vinegarhill. Perhaps the most likely reason is that a firm called D. King & Co. carried out vinegar production at Camlachie from 1837 to 1860.In the 1870s, Glasgow councillors decided that the carnival and circus for Glasgow Fair, hitherto located in the Saltmarket and Glasgow Green, had to be relocated, so they moved them first to Crownpoint and then to Vinegarhill. It then became the main site for the travellers associated with the annual fair. The postal address of East Vinegarhill was 917 Gallowgate, and the voter's roll from 1928 to 1930 shows that 190 people were registered to vote at this address.

Parkhead was a railway station in the east end of Glasgow. It was opened as Parkhead, by the North British Railway on 1 February 1871. It was renamed Parkhead North on 30 June 1952 by British Railways. This was to differentiate it from the nearby ex-Caledonian Railway Parkhead station on the former Glasgow Central Railway. The station was closed to passengers on 19 September 1955.

Camlachie (Scottish Gaelic: Camadh Làthaich) is an area of the city of Glasgow in Scotland, located in the East End of the city, between Dennistoun to the north, and Bridgeton to the south. Formerly a weaving village on the Camlachie Burn, it then developed as an important industrial suburb from the late 19th century, only to almost entirely disappear from the landscape when those industries declined a century later. It gave its name to the former constituency of the United Kingdom Parliament, Glasgow Camlachie which existed between 1885 and 1955. In the 21st century, much of the historic Camlachie territory is occupied by the Forge Retail Park (part of The Forge Shopping Centre complex which stretches west from its main site at Parkhead and was built on the site of the William Beardmore and Company steel forge, the area's major employer until its closure in 1983). Other streets which were traditionally part of Camlachie have become more associated with the Barrowfield and Gallowgate neighbourhoods following several redevelopments which caused the loss of most of the older buildings in the area and consequently its integrity as a defined district of the city.

Celtic Park was a football ground in Glasgow, Scotland. It was the home ground of Celtic from 1888 until they moved to the site of the modern Celtic Park in 1892. The ground staged an international match between Scotland and Ireland in 1891.

Celtic Park is the home stadium of Celtic Football Club, in the Parkhead area of Glasgow, Scotland. With a capacity of 60,832, it is the largest football stadium in Scotland, and the eighth-largest stadium in the United Kingdom. It is also known as Parkhead or Paradise. Celtic was formed in 1887 and the first Celtic Park opened in Parkhead in 1888. The club moved to the current site in 1892, after the rental charge was greatly increased on the first. The new site was developed into an oval-shaped stadium, with vast terracing sections. The record attendance of 83,500 was set at an Old Firm derby on 1 January 1938. The terraces were covered and floodlights installed between 1957 and 1971. The Taylor Report mandated that major clubs should have all-seater stadia by August 1994. Celtic was in a poor financial position in the early 1990s and no major work was carried out until Fergus McCann took control of the club in March 1994. The old terraces were demolished to develop a new stadium in a phased rebuild completed in August 1998. A section of rail seating was installed in 2016. Celtic Park has been used as a venue for Scotland internationals and Cup Finals when Hampden Park has been unavailable. Before the First World War, Celtic Park hosted composite rules shinty-hurling, track and field and the 1897 Track Cycling World Championships. Open-air Masses and First World War recruitment drives were also held there. Celtic Park hosted the opening ceremony of the 2014 Commonwealth Games and has also been used for concerts by the Who and U2.

Newbank is a neighbourhood in the East End of Glasgow, Scotland, near the home ground of Celtic F.C. It sits just north of the River Clyde, adjacent to Parkhead, and is bounded to the south by London Road. It is now a settlement of council houses but its name derives from an 18th-century estate of that name.

The Nelson Recreation Ground also known as the Olympic Sports Stadium was a former sports ground and stadium on Janefield Street (formerly Porter Street), in Camlachie, Glasgow, Scotland. The recreation ground hosted trotting races as early as 1902 and in 1923 William Nelson built a more substantial trotting track and whippet track on the land behind numbers 15 to 31 Porter Street adjacent to the north-west side of Celtic Park. The grounds also hosted the Eastern Highland Games and foot racing based on the Powderhall Sprint. In 1928 the Nelson Dirt Track Racing Motor Club became the first club to introduce speedway to Scotland. At least one speedway meeting was staged in 1932 promoted by Lanarkshire Speedways Ltd. William Nelson (a horse dealer by trade) then built an independent (unlicensed) greyhound track as the venue took shape as a stadium which opened to greyhound racing on 2 September 1930. Boxing bouts were also held at the venue and the stadium was renamed to the Olympic Sports Stadium. The stadium was demolished in 1937 and became Dalserf Street (part of the Barrowfield scheme) before the housing was demolished for the Glasgow East End Regeneration Route (A278 road) many years later.

Parkhead Stadium was a railway station in the east end of Glasgow. It was opened by the Caledonian Railway as Parkhead on 1 February 1897.In recognition of its proximity to the Celtic Park football stadium, it was known as Parkhead (for Celtic Park) by 1904; and it was also referred to in some timetables as Parkhead for Celtic Park.The station was renamed Parkhead Stadium by British Railways on 3 March 1952. The nearby ex-North British Railway's Coatbridge Branch station, "Parkhead", was renamed "Parkhead North" on 30 June 1952.It was closed to passengers on 5 October 1964.
