North River (Belmont Lake)

Belmont Lake is a lake in geographic Belmont Township in the municipality of Havelock-Belmont-Methuen, Peterborough County in Central Ontario, Canada. It is part of the water system that feeds the Trent Severn Waterway Great Lakes Basin. There are 2 watercourses (rivers) that flow into Belmont and one exiting. The first river comes from the north from Cordova Lake and is navigable by small boat from the northwest part of Belmont Lake up the river for approximately 1 km. It has deep and shallow sections and some areas that are rocky. The second inflow which comes from Brackenridge Bay on Round Lake is on the west side at approximately the middle point of the lake. There is a small waterfall flowing into the lake that varies in size depending on water levels at certain times of the year. The Crowe River outflow is on the east side at approximately the middle point of the lake. This river is navigable by small boat for approximately 1 km by navigating some deep and shallow rocky sections. The Crowe River dam is located at the end separating Belmont Lake from Crowe Lake. Belmont Lake has approximately 50 islands. Several of the islands are named. The largest is Big island. It is approximately 1 km long and 375 metres at its widest point. There are approximately 45 cottages on the island. The island is located in the middle of the lake. Belmont has a long history of cottagers because of its natural beauty. It is located on the southernmost point of the Canadian shield which is why most of the islands and surroundings are rocky. Rumour has it that Belmont was suggested to be named Loon Lake because of the numerous loons found and heard on the lake year after year. Belmont has a healthy fish population. Muskie populations which were healthy some years ago have declined due to the non-native Pike species that have made their way into the lake. Other species such as Perch, Bass, Bluegill, Catfish, and Pickerel are also found in the lake. The old mills (no longer present) known as Ashby Mill and Rockdale are located on the south shore and at the Crowe River outflow respectively. The most southern part of the lake has a large bay called King Bay. The most northern part of the lake has a large bay called Deer Bay. It is approximately 7.5 km from the southern part of the main lake to the north part of the main lake. it is approximately 3.1 km wide at its widest point from the river inflow on the west to the river outflow on the east. Many of the older cottages are still present on Belmont Lake allowing it to maintain its "cottagey" feel.

The Havelock railway station is a former Canadian Pacific Railway station in Havelock, Ontario. It is recognized as a Designated Heritage Railway Station. The station is located at mileage 93.70 of the Canadian Pacific's Havelock Subdivision.The railway station is privately owned and not designated an Ontario Heritage building.

Havelock-Belmont-Methuen is a township in central-eastern Ontario, Canada, in Peterborough County. On January 1, 1998, Belmont and Methuen Township amalgamated with the Village of Havelock to form what is now Havelock-Belmont-Methuen.

Crowe lake contains multiple varieties of fish, including species of walleye, bass, and bluegill. The shore of Crowe Lake is home to Blairton Trailer Park.

It was redistributed between Bay of Quinte electoral district and Hastings—Lennox and Addington electoral district as a result of the Canadian federal electoral redistribution, 2012.

The Crowe River is a river in the counties of Haliburton, Hastings, Northumberland and Peterborough in southern Ontario, Canada. It is in the Lake Ontario drainage basin and is a tributary of the Trent River.

Marmora is the largest community in the Municipality of Marmora and Lake in Hastings County, Ontario, Canada. It is located on the Crowe River and along Highway 7 between Havelock to the west and Madoc to the east, about the halfway point between Ottawa and Toronto.

Seymour is a former incorporated township and now a geographic township located in Northumberland County, Ontario, Canada. It is currently part of the Municipality of Trent Hills. European settlement began in earnest in the 1830s and brothers Lieutenant-Colonel Robert Campbell and Major Robert Campbell were granted 890 acres (360 ha) on the Trent River in 1831. A settlement grew, and in 1876, the Village of Campbellford was separated from Seymour and incorporated as a separate municipality. Seymour was originally part of the United Counties of Northumberland and Durham, then Northumberland after the United Counties were restructured in 1974. In 2001, Seymour was amalgamated with Campbellford, the Village of Hastings and the Township of Percy to form the Town of Campbellford / Seymour, Percy & Hastings. It was renamed Trent Hills later that year. According to the 2001 Census, Seymour had a population of 4,528 at the time of amalgamation.

Quackenbush Provincial Park is a non-operating Ontario Park, located 40 kilometres (25 mi) northwest of Peterborough, Ontario, within Lot 29 of Concession 12 in Dummer Township. Archaeological site excavations between 1954 and 1973 revealed that there is a Huron-Wendat First Nation village buried on the site that has connections to their culture. Because of this, the park is protected for its historical significance. There are no visitors' facilities, and recreational visits are discouraged. There has only been a small amount of excavation on the site, but it has unearthed signs of three longhouses (one containing a mass grave), as well as ecological matter from human occupation. The bodies found in the mass grave, all showed signs that they encountered violence, which would indicate that the known widespread conflict that occurred during the late 15th century also took place here.
