The Kinnara School of Music was a music school founded in Mumbai, India, in 1962 by Indian classical musician Ravi Shankar. With his increased popularity and influence in the West, he opened a second branch of the school at 8718 West 3rd Street in Los Angeles in May 1967. Shankar's concept for Kinnara was to further the strict guru–shishya tradition of musical education that he had experienced under his teacher, Allauddin Khan, in the 1940s. The Mumbai centre staged productions of orchestral works by Shankar, including Nava Rasa Ranga. Due to Shankar's busy international schedule of concerts and recording, everyday tuition at Kinnara was delegated to protégés such as Shambhu Das and Amiyo Das Gupta. Among the students at Kinnara was Beatles guitarist George Harrison, who received sitar tuition from Shankar and Shambhu Das in Mumbai in late 1966. During a visit to London that year, Shankar said that, given the widespread fascination for Indian music at the time, he was concerned that "people who don't really understand the sitar will cash in on the sudden interest" by offering newcomers lessons on the instrument. Shankar added that he would consider opening a school in the UK, where his most advanced students could teach, but only if he was sure that the interest there was genuine. Harrison attracted publicity for the Los Angeles school when he and Shankar gave a press conference there in August 1967, which helped promote Shankar's upcoming concert at the Hollywood Bowl. Other students attending the Los Angeles centre included Robby Krieger and John Densmore of the Doors, and American musicians Russ Titelman and Colin Walcott. Scenes filmed at both the Mumbai and Los Angeles schools over 1967–68 appeared in Howard Worth's 1971 documentary on Shankar, titled Raga. Shankar viewed the Los Angeles centre as a base from which he could also educate the American public about Indian music. When opening the school there, he emphasised the need to recognise the sacred aspect of Indian classical music, which was defined by Allauddin Khan's phrase "Nada Brahma" ("Sound is God"). He subsequently became disappointed with the impatience and lack of focus displayed by the majority of his Western students. He said that in many cases, as with his concert audiences in the United States, their motives were based on the misconception that Indian music was allied with the hippie movement's espousal of hallucinogenic drugs and free love. Shankar identified Colin Walcott as an exception, calling him "really serious" and "my first American disciple". He also said of Harrison, despite the Beatle eventually relinquishing the sitar: "[Indian music] was not a fad for him, he loved it until the end and became very very dear to me." Along with his students and protégés from India, including Das Gupta, Shamim Ahmed and Taranath Rao, Walcott was one of the musicians Shankar selected for his 1968 Festival from India orchestra. Walcott also contributed to Shankar's Raga film soundtrack; titled "Frenzy and Distortion", his piece combined Western and Indian sounds, and evoked the clash of cultures and ideology that Shankar experienced during the height of his popularity in the West. Some of the musicians who participated in the Festival from India project stayed on to teach at Kinnara. By 1969, Shankar was disillusioned with the Los Angeles school and entrusted its running to Das Gupta. Shankar continued to tutor Western musicians, having previously held temporary positions at the City College of New York and the University of California, Los Angeles, and having been a guest lecturer at other colleges and universities, including the Ali Akbar College of Music. In October 1970, Shankar became chair of the department of Indian music at the California Institute of the Arts. Later, he focused on teaching sitar to his daughter Anoushka Shankar, applying the traditional guru–shishya principles to her musical education. Among other educational projects, he founded the Ravi Shankar Institute of Music and the Performing Arts in New Delhi.

Tail O’ the Pup was an iconic Los Angeles, California hot dog stand actually shaped like a hot dog. It was one of the last surviving mid-20th century buildings that were built in the shapes of the products they sold.

Beverly Park was an amusement park located in Los Angeles, California, at the corner of Beverly Boulevard and La Cienega. Owned and operated by David Bradley from 1943 to 1974, it was considered an important source of attractions for children during the 1950s. It was also an important source of inspiration for Walt Disney who, following Bradley's example, later founded Disneyland. The area welcomed a significant amount of citizens and visitors, so Beverly Park and the other Kiddielands experienced popularity and success during their operating years.

It is an eight-story structure located at the edge of Beverly Hills and West Hollywood, between La Cienega and San Vicente boulevards. Anchor tenants include Bloomingdale's and Macy's, and a Macy's men's store. The studio zone, also known as the thirty-mile zone (TMZ), is an area defined by a 30-mile (48 km) radius of "Hollywood" used by the American entertainment industry to determine employee benefits for filmwork done within it. Beverly Grove is an upscale neighborhood adjacent to Beverly Hills, California within the Beverly–Fairfax neighborhood in the Mid-City West area of Los Angeles.

West Hollywood West is a residential neighborhood in West Hollywood, California. It encompasses the area bound by Doheny Drive and Beverly Hills on the west, Melrose Avenue on the north, La Cienega Boulevard on the east and Beverly Boulevard on the south. The east-west streets of the area are Rangely, Dorrington, Ashcroft and Rosewood Avenues, and Bonner Drive. The north-south streets are Doheny Drive, Almont Drive, Robertson Boulevard, Sherbourne Drive, San Vicente Boulevard and Norwich, Huntley, Westbourne, Westmount and West Knoll Drives. The neighborhood is walkable, with cafes and restaurants, malls and movie theatres, parks, libraries, galleries, design shops and the Pacific Design Center in close proximity. The West Hollywood West neighborhood is represented by West Hollywood West Residents Association ("WHWRA"), one of the city's largest and most organized residents associations. The purpose of the West Hollywood West Residents Association (WHWRA) is to protect the integrity and quality of life within West Hollywood West.

The Coronet Theatre is a theatre located at 366 North La Cienega Boulevard in Los Angeles, California. During its peak in the mid 20th century, the theatre was an art and experimental movie venue, showing the work of people such as Kenneth Anger, Man Ray, Peter Berg, and Richard Vetere. Over the years its stage has hosted such stars as John Houseman, Charles Laughton, Charlton Heston, Buster Keaton, Ethel Waters, James Coburn, George C. Scott, Carol Burnett, Noah Wyle, and Glenn Close.The Coronet theatre was built in 1947 by Frieda Berkoff of the Russian dancing family, the Berkoffs, and thrived until June 2, 2008 when it was bought on by Mark Flanagan, the owner of Los Angeles's Club Largo. Flanagan moved his entire operation to the new location and renamed it Largo at the Coronet. It now operates as a music and comedy club.On July 6, 2020, the late night talk show Conan began filming from the Coronet Theatre with limited on-site staff and no audience, as part of a transition from at-home production necessitated by the COVID-19 pandemic (and marking the first U.S. late-night show to transition from at-home episodes); the show's usual set at Warner Bros. Studios, Burbank had already been dismantled. Conan remained at the Coronet through its series finale on June 24, 2021, with its final two weeks of episodes admitting a fully-vaccinated audience.

The old Beverly Hills Main Post Office is a Renaissance Revival building at the Beverly Hills Civic Center in Beverly Hills, California. The building has carried the addresses 469 North Crescent Drive and 470 North Canon Drive. It was built as the main post office in the 1930s, remaining a post office until the 1990s, and in the 2010s became the Paula Kent Meehan Historic Building of the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts.
