Lyon Metropolis

The Urban Community of Lyon (French: Communauté urbaine de Lyon), also known as Grand Lyon (i.e. "Greater Lyon") or by its former acronym COURLY, is the former intercommunal structure gathering the city of Lyon (France) and some of its suburbs. It was created in January 1969.The "Metropolis of Lyon" replaced the Urban Community on January 1, 2015. The Urban Community of Lyon encompasses only the core of the metropolitan area of Lyon. Communes further away from the centre of the metropolitan area have formed their own intercommunal structures, such as: Syndicate of New Agglomeration of L'Isle-d'Abeau (Syndicat d'agglomération nouvelle de l'Isle-d'Abeau): 38,769 inhabitants Community of Communes of the East of Lyon (Communauté de communes de l'Est Lyonnais): 27,706 inhabitants Community of Communes of the Garon Valley (Communauté de communes de la Vallée du Garon): 27,515 inhabitants

The 3rd arrondissement of Lyon is one of the nine arrondissements of the City of Lyon.

The Tour Silex 2 (Silex 2 Tower in English, usually presented in the form Silex²) is an office skyscraper which rises 23 levels in the district of La Part-Dieu in the 3rd arrondissement of Lyon, France. The tower rises 129 meters high. It is currently under construction and will be delivered in 2021.The new building will offer 30,700 square meters of office space over 23 floors. The tower is therefore a continuation of the Silex 1 project, a small office building completed and delivered on May 11, 2017.In 2021, the Belgian group Solvay, one of the leaders in world chemicals, will move into the tower and should occupy 9,000 m2 of offices, on eight levels.

France 3 Rhône-Alpes Auvergne is one of France 3's regional services broadcasting to people in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. It was founded in 1954 as RTF Télé-Lyon. The service is headquartered in Lyon, the capital of the region. Programming is also produced by France 3 Rhône-Alpes.The service can also be seen in Switzerland.

The Tour Part-Dieu (formerly Tour du Crédit Lyonnais, or colloquially Le Crayon, or The Pencil) is a skyscraper in Lyon, France. The building is 164.9 metres (541 ft) tall, in La Part-Dieu district, with 42 floors. The building was completed in 1977. It currently stands as the thirteenth-tallest building in France. The top 10 floors are occupied by Radisson Blu Hotel Lyon, the highest hotel in Europe. The other floors are offices. It is a work of the American firm Araldo Cossutta & Associates and the construction occurred between 1972 and 1977. According to the wishes of the architect, the roof of this tower is roughly the same height as Notre Dame de Fourviere. At the opening in 1977, it was the 4th tallest building in France. The tower has a cylindrical shape. It is topped by a 23-metre high pyramid. On the occasion of its 31st anniversary, the tower changed its name and logo. On 22 September 2008, the building was officially renamed Tour Part Dieu. The tower is fondly named Le Crayon ("The Pencil") by the Lyonnese due to its shape, and the new logo includes this nickname. The tower is served by the Gare Part-Dieu – Vivier Merle station on the metro line .

The Maurice Ravel Auditorium is a concert hall located in Part-Dieu, the 3rd district of Lyon. It was originally built for the National Orchestra of Lyon and is their residence hall. It is also one of the first buildings in France to be built with Prestressed concrete.

Westfield La Part-Dieu mall is a major shopping centre inside Lyon-Part-Dieu Business District, in the 3rd arrondissement of Lyon, France. It used to be one of Europe's largest downtown shopping center when it opened on September the 8th, 1975. Located in front of La Part-Dieu train station, it is currently undergoing renovation works, according to a Winy Maas overhaul design.

The Battle of Lugdunum, also called the Battle of Lyon, was fought on 19 February 197 at Lugdunum (modern Lyon, France), between the armies of the Roman emperor Septimius Severus and of the Roman usurper Clodius Albinus. Severus' victory finally established him as the sole emperor of the Roman Empire following the Year of the Five Emperors and immediate aftermath. This battle is said to be the largest, most hard-fought, and bloodiest of all clashes between Roman forces. According to English historian Edward Gibbon, the Roman historian Cassius Dio placed the total number of Roman soldiers engaged for both sides combined at 150,000. Historian Michael Kulikowski states that Severus led the much larger force with the combined legions of Dacia and the Danubian provinces. Historian A. J. Graham supports Gibbon's number of 150,000 soldiers in total, rather than the sometimes cited number of 300,000 in total and therefore 150,000 on each side, which he states to be a commonly accepted mistranslation of Cassius Dio's original language. Graham also analyses the possible forces available to Albinus and states that the numbers on each side could have been roughly equal.

Part-Dieu (French: [la paʁ djø]) is an area of Lyon Metropolis. It is also the second largest tertiary district in France, after La Défense in Greater Paris, with over 1,150,000 m2 of office and service space, along with 45,000 service sector jobs, 2,500 companies and a 97% occupancy rate. The area contains the Part-Dieu train station.Located on the Left Bank of the Rhône river, this urban centre also provides major entertainment and cultural facilities, including one of the largest urban shopping malls in Europe, 800 shops, Paul Bocuse indoor food market, café terraces, the Auditorium concert hall, Bourse du Travail theatre, Municipal Library, Departmental Archives and Montluc Fort. Moreover, it harbours Tour Incity (202m), Tour Part-Dieu (164m) and Tour Oxygène (117m), making Lyon one of the few European cities able to display high-rise architecture right next to its historical core.The CBD is currently undergoing major renovation and construction works, according to a revitalization project totalling €2.5 billion between public and private investments.

Tour To-Lyon is a mixed-use skyscraper under construction in the La Part-Dieu business district of Lyon, France. The building will include 66,000 m2 of office space, 10,500 m2 of hotel space and 3,500 m2 of retail space. With a height of 170 m it will become the second-tallest skyscraper in Lyon after Tour Incity (202 m) completed in 2015. On 5 September 2019 Apicil Group that will occupy 20,000 m2 of the tower announced a deal with the developer of the project Vinci Immobilier to acquire the totality of the office space (66,000 m2) for an estimated price of €500 million.On 9 September 2019 Vinci Immobilier with the presence of Gerard Collomb the Mayor of Lyon, Dominique Perrault the architect and Philippe Barret CEO of Apicil Group have officially launched the tower project with a symbolic laying of the building's foundation stone.

The Tour Oxygène (Oxygen Tower in English) is a skyscraper which rises 28 levels in the district of La Part-Dieu in the 3rd arrondissement of Lyon, France. It forms part of the Oxygen Project, which includes the office tower and a shopping center, the Cours Oxygène. The tower rises 115 meters high. This zone is served by the metro line

The Bourse du Travail is a 1,950-capacity theatre located in Lyon, France. Built in 1929, it was designated a monument historique in 1989. Some of the artists that performed at the venue include Asia, Mötley Crüe, Blue Öyster Cult, Iggy Pop and Metallica.
