The Certosa di Parma (Certosa di San Girolamo) is a former Carthusian Monastery located in the outskirts of Parma. The first Carthusian monastery at the site was constructed from 1285 to 1304, by the initiative of the archbishop of Spoleto, Rolando Taverna. Little, if any, remains of that structure, the minor cloister dates from the 15th century. At the site between 1673 and 1722, a new Baroque monastery, cloister and church were built based on designs by Francesco Pescaroli. In 1769, the monastery was suppressed and the site became used for manufacture of cigars, and became the "Fabbrica Ducale dei Tabacchi di Parma". In 1900, it became a reformatory for juvenile offenders. In 1975, it acquired its present function as a school for prison police (Scuola di Formazione e Aggiornamento della Polizia Penitenziaria). The church, dedicated to St. Jerome, has works and frescoes by Francesco Pescaroli, Alessandro Baratta, Gian Battista Natali, and Ilario Spolverini. The monastery was suppressed at the time when Stendhal's novel The Charterhouse of Parma was written.

The Arch of San Lazzaro (Italian: Arco di San Lazzaro) is a triumphal arch that stands just outside and east of the city of Parma, Region of Emilia-Romagna. It was constructed in 1628 under the designs of Giovanni Battista Magnani to celebrate the arrival to the city of Margherita de’ Medici, the new wife of the then Duke Odoardo Farnese. At the time of its construction, the panels of the arch were painted by Pomponio Amidano with historical tableaus, depicting Marcus Aemilius Lepidus founds a Roman Colony in Parma. Stadio Ennio Tardini, commonly referred to as just Il Tardini, is a football stadium in Parma, Italy, located near the centre of Parma, between the town centre and the city walls. It is the home of Parma Calcio 1913. The stadium was built in 1923 and was named after one of Parma's former presidents, Ennio Tardini. The stadium is the nineteenth largest football stadium in Italy and the second largest in Emilia–Romagna with a capacity of 22,352 spectators. The stadium is the sixth oldest Italian football ground still in use. The ground underwent significant expansion under Parmalat's ownership of the resident football club in the 1990s, as the ground's seating capacity was increased from around 13,500 to 29,050. In 2006, the capacity was reduced to 27,906 although only 21,473 are authorised to enter for all-seater events and even those seats are very seldom all sold. The expansion has allowed meant a number of Italy matches have been played at the Tardini. Expansion plans were made public in Italy's unsuccessful bid for Euro 2016 and would have made the permanent capacity of the stadium 31,397.

The Stazione Sperimentale per l'Industria delle Conserve Alimentari (SSICA) (Experimental Station for the Food Preserving Industry) is a special Agency of the Chamber of Commerce in Parma. It is an Institute for applied research, established in Parma in 1922, and operating on a national scale with the specific aim of promoting the technical and technological progress in the food preserving industry. In 1999 SSICA was transformed into a public economic institution with important legal, operational and administrative modifications which, however, have left its mission and functions unchanged.

Santa Benedetto is a Renaissance-style, Roman Catholic church located on Piazzale San Benedetto Da Norcia in Parma, region of Emilia-Romagna, Italy. The church and monastery are part of a high school, the Istituto Salesiano, run by the Salesian order.

The church of San Pietro d'Alcantara is found on via Padre Onorio in Parma. The church is dedicated to the canonized Franciscan friar, Peter of Alcantara. Construction at this site began in 1706, next to a reformed Franciscan monastery. In 1810, Napoleon closed the monastery. The church was not reconsecrated till 1927. It contains an Glory of St. Peter of Alcantara, painted in 1736 by Clemente Ruta.

Taro [ta.ʁo] was a department of the First French Empire in present-day Italy. It was named after the Taro river. It was formed in 1808, when the Duchy of Parma, Piacenza and Guastalla was annexed by France under the Treaty of Lunéville. Its capital was Parma. The department was disbanded after the defeat of Napoleon in 1814. At the Congress of Vienna, the Duchy was restored and given to Marie Louise, Napoleon's wife. Its territory is now divided between the Italian provinces of Parma and Piacenza. The most notable person born in the then-Département of Taro was the composer Giuseppe Verdi (born 9 or 10 October 1813 in the village of Le Roncole near Busseto).

The Citadel of Parma (Italian: Cittadella di Parma) is a pentagonal fortress built in the Emilian city in the last years of the 16th century.The structure was erected at the behest of the Duke of Parma and Piacenza Alessandro Farnese and entrusted to the engineers Giovanni Antonio Stirpio de' Brunelli and Genesio Bresciani with the collaboration of Smeraldo Smeraldi. To build it, the Maggiore canal was diverted, whose course was joined with that of the Comune canal up to the Porta Nuova (today's Barriera Farini). Created for defensive purposes, and for this reason equipped with ramparts and moats, it was later used as barracks, as a prison for political crimes and as a place for executions. Between the late 20th and early 21st centuries, the fortress, which retains its original pentagonal shape, was renovated and used as a public park, with spaces dedicated to sports and children's activities.The structure has five bastions. The main entrance, characterized by a monumental facade in Angera stone, is to the north, while the other, the Porta del Soccorso, is to the south. The main entrance gate, designed by Simone Moschino and built by Giambattista Carra in 1596, has been preserved without later modifications.

The Province of Parma (Italian: Provincia di Parma) is a province in the Emilia–Romagna region of Italy. Its largest town and capital is the city of Parma. It is made up of 47 comuni. It has an area of 3,449 square kilometres (1,332 sq mi) and a total population of around 450,000. The province is bordered by the Province of Reggio Emilia to the east, the Piacenza to the west, Lombardy's provinces of Cremona and Mantova to the north and by Liguria's provinces of La Spezia and Genoa and Tuscany's Province of Massa and Carrara to the south.
