Wanamie is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Newport Township, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. It is located in the southwestern end of the Wyoming Valley and uses the Nanticoke zip code of 18634. The South Branch Newport Creek forms the natural eastern boundary of Wanamie and drains it northeastward via the Newport Creek into the Susquehanna River. The village is named after the Wanami tribe of the Lenni Lenape. As of the 2010 census, its population was 612.

Hunlock Creek (also known as Hunlocks Creek) is a tributary of the Susquehanna River in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, in the United States. It is approximately 7.8 miles (12.6 km) long and flows through Lehman Township and Hunlock Township. The watershed of the creek has an area of 32.5 square miles (84 km2) and is situated in northwestern Luzerne County. It has one named tributary, which is known as Roaring Brook, and a number of unnamed and unofficially named tributaries, such as "West Branch Hunlock Creek". Hunlock Creek is designated as a coldwater fishery and a migratory fishery, and part of it is inhabited by wild trout. The annual rate of precipitation in the watershed is 35 to 45 inches (89 to 114 cm). Rock formations consisting of sandstone and shale are common in the vicinity of the creek. A number of bridges have been built over the creek and it was the site of a furnace in the 1800s. An area listed on the Luzerne County Natural Areas Inventory is located in the creek's watershed.

Hunlock Creek is an unincorporated community in Hunlock Township, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, United States. The community is located along the Susquehanna River and U.S. Route 11, 3.2 miles (5.1 km) west of Nanticoke. Hunlock Creek has a post office with ZIP code 18621. In 1940, a regional guidebook noted that the town, "its shacks resting in a mountain cleft, is named for the coal-blackened stream that splits it into a number of sections. US 11 parallels the winding river through a long valley that broadens out occasionally to include a cultivated tract on the river flat."

State Correctional Institution – Retreat is a former 350-bed Medium-Security correctional facility for males. Located on the site of the former Retreat State Hospital, the facility is located about 12 miles south of Wilkes-Barre in the northeastern part of the commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Reservoir Creek is a tributary of South Branch Newport Creek in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, in the United States. It is approximately 1.6 miles (2.6 km) long and flows through Newport Township. The creek is in the United States Geological Survey quadrangle of Nanticoke. Most of the land in its vicinity is forested land, but there are also some patches of developed land, agricultural land, and "disturbed" land. The main rock formations in the watershed are the Llwellyn Formation, the Mauch Chunk Formation, the Pottsville Formation, and the Pocono Formation. The main soils are the Lackawanna-Arnot-Morris series and the Udorthents-Urban Land-Volusia series. The creek is considered by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection to be impaired.

The Susquehanna Warrior Trail is a 12.21-mile (19.65 km) rail trail for bicyclists and pedestrians that runs along the west bank of the Susquehanna River in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. The trail was created in 2005, and opened to the public in 2007. The Susquehanna Warrior Trail has not yet been dedicated. The trail is part of a plan to create a trail network covering all of Luzerne County.

Lily Lake (also known as Long Pond or Beach Pond) is an impoundment and natural lake in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, in the United States. It has a surface area of approximately 160 acres and is situated on Pond Creek. It is a natural glacial lake in Slocum Township and Conyngham Township. The lake is listed on the Luzerne County Natural Areas Inventory. It is inhabited by eleven species of fish, including alewives and bluegills. The lake has one boat launch.
