Callan River

Collegeland (or Collegelands - Irish: An Choláiste) is a semi-rural area in north County Armagh, Northern Ireland. It includes the townlands of Aghinlig, Keenaghan, Lislasley, Kinnego, Mullaghmore, and Tirmacrannon near the village of Charlemont and just across the River Blackwater from Moy, County Tyrone, within the Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council area. It had a population of 122 people (42 households) in the 2011 Census.In 1859, the lease of the Collure estate (as it was then known) was inherited at his father's death by John Howard Parnell, elder brother of Charles Stewart Parnell. In 1879, John Parnell, financially strapped, offered his subtenants terms on which to purchase their own farms, according to the "John Bright Clauses" of the Landlord and Tenant (Ireland) Act 1870. As late as 1980, tenant farmers in the area paid rent to the estate of Olivia Parnell (widow of John Howard Parnell). A portion of the rents paid for upkeep of Trinity College, Dublin, hence the name "Collegeland."Five killings in the Collegeland townlands of Aghinlig and Lislasley are noted in the article on The Troubles in Loughgall.

The River Tall is a small river in County Armagh, Northern Ireland which joins the River Blackwater just south of Verner’s Bridge. It is navigable for 4 km by dinghy or canoe.It rises about 5 km west of Markethill and flows north by Richhill and Ballyhegan, and then turns west. Originally it flowed into the River Callan at Fairlawn Bridge, but was diverted into a cut excavated in 1851–4, which intercepts it at a point 2 km above the former confluence and conveys it directly to the Blackwater just above Verner's Bridge. The "Old Course of the Tall", from the interception down to Fairlawn Bridge, is so named on maps of the time, but it is unnamed on more recent OSNI maps, and may have been partially filled in. A second cut, completed in 1855, partly diverted the Callan, by means of a weir at Clonmain Mill near the junction of the Summerisland Road and the Cloveneden Road, to the Tall at a point 0.3 km above the latter's own diversion, but the bulk of the Callan has continued in its original course. Both cuts are labelled "Callan River (New Course)" on maps of the time, but are unnamed on more recent OSNI maps.In common usage, the name "Tall River" is now extended to include the first cut, all the way from the interception down to the Blackwater, but OSNI maps attach the name only to the part upstream from the interception. Lakeview Park is a football stadium in Loughgall, Northern Ireland. It is the home ground of Loughgall F.C. The stadium holds approximately 1,300 spectators. As the name suggests, Lakeview Park is adjacent to a lake.

The Loughgall ambush took place on 8 May 1987 in the village of Loughgall, County Armagh, Northern Ireland. An eight-man unit of the Provisional Irish Republican Army (IRA) launched an attack on the Royal Ulster Constabulary (RUC) base in the village. An IRA member drove a digger with a bomb in its bucket through the perimeter fence, while the rest of the unit arrived in a van and fired on the building. The bomb exploded and destroyed almost half of the base. Soldiers from the British Army's Special Air Service (SAS) then returned fire both from within the base and from hidden positions around it in a pre-planned ambush, killing all of the attackers. Two of them were subsequently found to have been unarmed when they were killed.A civilian was also killed and another wounded by the SAS after unwittingly driving into the ambush zone and being mistaken for IRA attackers.The joint British Army/RUC operation was codenamed Operation Judy. It was the IRA's biggest loss of life in a single incident during the Troubles.

Armagh Harps Gaelic Football Club is a Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) club in the city of Armagh, County Armagh, Northern Ireland. It plays exclusively Gaelic football in the Senior competitions of Armagh GAA. Its home ground is Páirc na Mainistreach, also known as Abbey Park, in the north of Armagh city. The club has won the Armagh Senior Football Championship 21 times.

The City of Armagh High School (formerly Armagh Secondary School) is located in the city of Armagh, Northern Ireland. It is one of six schools in the Armagh City. The school moved to a new location in 1995 and was opened by Queen Elizabeth II.The City of Armagh High School teaches children aged 11–18. The school opened in 1965. The school's slogan is "Excellence, Opportunity and Care". The City of Armagh High School has sports such as football, hockey, netball, athletics, gymnastics and cross country. The school choir performs a Christmas choir service. The school's uniform is maroon and white.

St. Patrick's Cathedral in Armagh, Northern Ireland is the seat of the Catholic Archbishop of Armagh, Primate of All Ireland. It was built in various phases between 1840 and 1904 to serve as the Roman Catholic cathedral of the Archdiocese of Armagh, the original medieval Cathedral of St. Patrick having been appropriated by the state church called the Church of Ireland at the time of the Irish Reformation. The Cathedral stands on a hill, as does its Anglican counterpart.

Pearse Óg Gaelic Athletic Club (Irish: Na Piarsaigh Óga) is a Gaelic Athletic Association club in County Armagh, Northern Ireland. 'Na Piarsaigh Óga', which translates as 'the Young Pearses', takes its name from the Irish revolutionaries Pádraic and Willie Pearse. The club's crest includes a sword in flames, a symbol associated with Pádraic Pearse since his editorship of the nationalist newspaper An Claidheamh Soluis, surrounded by the green and gold club colours and a skyline of Armagh city.

Armagh Observatory is an astronomical research institute in Armagh, Northern Ireland. Around 25 astronomers are based at the observatory, studying stellar astrophysics, the Sun, Solar System astronomy and Earth's climate. In 2018, Armagh Observatory was recognized for having 224 years of unbroken weather records.

Southern Regional College (SRC) is a further and higher education college in the southern area of Northern Ireland in the United Kingdom. It was formed in 2007 following a merger of the Further Education colleges of Armagh College, Newry and Kilkeel Institute, and the Upper Bann Institute. The College has a total of 5 campuses incorporating the two council areas of Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon and Newry, Mourne and Down. At further education level, the College offers Level 2 Traineeships, Level 2 and 3 Apprenticeships, Level 2 and 3 Diploma’s, Certificates and Extended Diplomas and A-Levels. At higher education, courses offered include HNCs/HNDs, Foundation Degrees, Degrees and Higher Level Apprenticeships. Courses can be either full, part-time or flexible study via eLearning. SRC currently caters for approximately 10,000 students each year and has in excess of 900 members of staff.
