Nishihara, Okinawa

Yonabaru (与那原町, Yonabaru-chō, Okinawan: Yunabaru) is a town in Shimajiri District, Okinawa Prefecture, Japan. It is located at the southern end of Okinawa Island, on the east coast, overlooking Nakagusuku Bay. As of 2015, the town has a population of 18,410 and a population density of 3,502 persons per km2. The total area is 5.18 km2, making it the second smallest municipality in Okinawa.

Okinawa Christian University (沖縄キリスト教学院大学, Okinawa kirisutokyō gakuin daigaku) is a private university in Nishihara, Okinawa, Japan, established in 2004. .

The Okinawa Prefecture Archaeological Center (沖縄県立埋蔵文化財センター, Okinawa-ken Maizō Bunkazai Sentā) opened in Nishihara, Okinawa Prefecture, Japan in 1990. The facility researches, preserves, and utilizes through display and other activities the prefecture's Buried Cultural Properties. As of the early Reiwa era, around four thousand such sites have been identified in Okinawa Prefecture, from the Palaeolithic to modern times, including shell mounds, settlements, tombs, gusuku, underwater sites, and war ruins.

Ryukyu University Museum (Fūjukan) (琉球大学博物館（風樹館）, Ryūkyū Daigaku Hakubutsukan (Fūjukan)) is a university museum affiliated with the University of the Ryukyus in Nishihara, Okinawa Prefecture, Japan. Of the collection of 160,000 items, which includes zoological type specimens and cultural artefacts such as the remains of the sundial from Shuri Castle and examples of warazan, some fifteen hundred are included in the permanent exhibition.

Established in 1950, it is the westernmost national university of Japan and the largest public university in Okinawa Prefecture. Okinawa Shrine (沖縄神社, Okinawa Jinja) is a Shinto shrine in Naha, Okinawa Prefecture, Japan. Established at the end of the Taishō period on the site of Shuri Castle, the main hall of which was reused as the haiden (hall of worship), the shrine buildings were destroyed in May 1945 during the Battle of Okinawa. Both castle and shrine have since been rebuilt while this phase has been written out of the "official history" currently told at Shurijō Castle Park.

Shuri Station (首里駅, Shuri-eki) is a railway station on the Okinawa Urban Monorail (Yui Rail) located in Naha, Okinawa Prefecture, Japan. The station was originally planned to be named Tera Station (汀良駅, Tera-eki) after the neighborhood within Shuri, but opened as Shuri Station on August 10, 2003. It serves the center of downtown Shuri, Shuri Castle, and its environs. Shuri Station was originally the eastern terminus of the line. On October 1, 2019, a new eastward extension to Tedako-Uranishi was opened.The chime played to announce trains' arrival and departure is the traditional Okinawan nursery rhyme Akata Sunduchi.

Urasoe Castle (浦添城, Urasoe jō, Okinawan: Urashii Gushiku) is a Ryukyuan gusuku which served as the capital of the medieval Okinawan principality of Chūzan prior to the unification of the island into the Ryukyu Kingdom, and the moving of the capital to Shuri. In the 14th century, Urasoe was the largest castle on the island, but today only ruins remain.
