Llansantffraid railway station is a former station in Llansantffraid-ym-Mechain, Powys, Wales. The station opened in 1863 and closed in 1965. The station's two signal boxes, built by Dutton & Co., were moved to Oswestry and Shrewsbury.

Llansantffraid-ym-Mechain is a large village (in the community of Llansantffraid) in Powys, Mid Wales, close to the border with Shropshire in England, about 7 miles (11 km) south-west of Oswestry and 8 miles (13 km) north of Welshpool. It is on the A495 road and is at the confluence of the River Vyrnwy and the River Cain. The population as of the 2011 UK census was 1,415. The community includes the village of Deuddwr and several hamlets. Llansanffraid means "Church of Saint Bride" in the Welsh language, and ym Mechain refers to its location in the medieval cantref of Mechain and distinguishes it from other places with the same or similar names. The name is based on the story of St Bhrid, who is said to have floated across the Irish Sea on a sod of turf, or to have been carried to Scotland by two oystercatchers. The followers of St Bhrid possibly set up new settlements known by the Welsh as Llan Santes Ffraid, Church of (Lady) Saint Bhrid. In recent years the spelling of the village name, with or without a "t", has been a contentious issue (as it has been at Llansantffraid Glyn Ceiriog).

Deytheur Grammar School was opened in 1896 at Llansantffraid-ym-Mechain, Wales. Notable pupils included John Fraser Drummond DFC a Battle of Britain ace and The Ven. Arthur White, the Archdeacon of Warrington from 1947 until 1958.

The River Cain (Afon Cain in Welsh) is a river in north Powys which flows into the River Vyrnwy. Cain's source is just west of Llanfyllin, at the confluence of the Nant Alan and Nant Fyllon.After flowing east through Llanfyllin, where it is joined by the small River Abel, it continues eastwards alongside the A490 highway. It then turns north-east to pass through Llanfechain and is joined by the Nant Llys before finally flowing east again. It is fed by the Brogan, before joining the Vyrnwy near Llansantffraid-ym-Mechain.The Cain is 16 km long.

Glanyrafon Halt railway station was a station on the Tanat Valley Light Railway, located a mile west of Llanyblodwel, Shropshire, England on the south side of the River Tanat. The station opened in 1904 and closed in 1951. It was located on the east side of an occupation crossing and could be accessed by a footbridge across the river from the hamlet of Glan-yr-afon.

St Michael the Archangel is a Grade I listed church in Llanyblodwel, in Shropshire, England. It has a spire of unusual shape and was designed in 1847–1856 by the vicar, John Parker.

Llanyblodwel Halt railway station was a station in Llanyblodwel, Shropshire, England, on the Tanat Valley Light Railway. The station opened in 1904 and closed in 1951. It was approached by a sloping footpath from a road over bridge that led down to a short single platform on the south side of the line with a timber waiting shelter. The platform is still extant.

Llansilin Road railway station was a station on the Tanat Valley Light Railway in Llangedwyn, Powys, Wales. It had the "Road" suffix due to being 3 miles south from Llansilin and 4 miles by road. The station was located close to the hamlet of Pen-y-bont Llanerch Emrys, two miles east of Llangedwyn village, where the road from Llansilin joins the valley. The station opened in 1904 and formally closed in 1951. The short platform was situated between the railway and the road and had a corrugated iron shelter with a forward sloping roof, two lamps and a nameboard. There was a loop on the north side to serve a cattle dock as well as a siding from the west end serving a wharf in the goods yard, all controlled by a ground frame. The platform is still extant in the goods yard site.

Llanyblodwel and Pant was a ward in the county of Shropshire.

Llanyblodwel is a village and civil parish in Shropshire, England; the spelling "Llanyblodwell" was commonly used in the past, and the village was sometimes simply referred to as "Blodwel". The population of the civil parish at the 2011 census was 767. It lies 7 miles west of the nearest town, Oswestry, in the valley of the River Tanat. Simon Jenkins, in his guide to English churches says of Llanyblodwel that "the Welsh Marches are seldom so lovely as where the River Tanat crosses the border through the steep wooded valleys west of Oswestry."The parish had a population of 817 at the time of the 2001 census. It was formerly in the Llanyblodwel and Pant ward of the borough of Oswestry. The village is located in a scenic rural area, with attractive views of the Welsh hills across the border. There were formerly several limestone quarries around Llanyblodwel, and limited quarrying still takes place.

Afon Tanat is a river in northern Powys, Wales. Its source is close to the Cyrniau Nod mountain, to the north of Lake Vyrnwy. The river flows in a generally east-south-east direction until it joins the River Vyrnwy near Llansantffraid-ym-Mechain. For a short distance prior to its confluence it flows within western Shropshire, England.Its tributaries include the Afon Eirth, Afon Rhaeadr, Afon Iwrch and Afon Goch.
