Suffolk Coastal

Woodbridge is a port town and civil parish in the East Suffolk district of Suffolk, England. It is 8 miles (13 km) up the River Deben from the sea. It lies 7 miles (11 km) north-east of Ipswich and around 74 miles north-east of London.The town is close to some major archaeological sites of the Anglo-Saxon period, including the Sutton Hoo burial ship, and had 35 households at the time of the Domesday Book of 1086. It is well known for its boating harbour and tide mill next to the Deben River, on the edge of the Suffolk Coast and Heath Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Several festivals are held. As a "gem in Suffolk's crown", it has been named the best place to live in the East of England.

The Church of St Thomas of Canterbury is a Roman Catholic church in St John's Street in Woodbridge, Suffolk. It has been part of the Catholic Diocese of East Anglia since 1976, and before that was in the Diocese of Northampton. It forms a joint parish with Framlingham. It was built in 1850. It was originally a YMCA but in 1929 it was converted into a Catholic church.

Woodbridge Tide Mill in Woodbridge, Suffolk, England is a rare example of a tide mill whose water wheel still turns and is capable of grinding a wholemeal flour. The mill is a Grade I listed building. It is a three-storey building constructed from wood; externally it is clad in white Suffolk boarding and has a Gambrel roof. Its machinery reflects the skills and achievements of the early Industrial Revolution. It has been preserved and is open to the public. The reservoir constructed for demonstration purposes is roughly half an acre in extent, the original 7-acre (28,000 m2) one is now a marina.

Ferry Cliff, Sutton is a 2.8-hectare (6.9-acre) geological Site of Special Scientific Interest Suffolk. It is a Geological Conservation Review site, and it is in the Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.This site exposes rocks dating to the Paleocene, around 60 million years ago. It has the oldest British fossils of rodents, and ungulates, both even and odd toed. It also has early hyracotheriums.A public footpath runs through this very steep site.

Woodbridge railway station is on the East Suffolk Line in the east of England, serving the town of Woodbridge, Suffolk. It is 10 miles 19 chains (16.5 km) down the line from Ipswich and 79 miles (127 km) measured from London Liverpool Street; it is situated between Westerfield and Melton. Its three-letter station code is WDB. The station was opened in 1859. Today it is managed by Abellio Greater Anglia, which also operates all trains that call.

Hutchison's Meadow is a one hectare nature reserve in Melton in Suffolk. It is owned and managed by the Suffolk Wildlife Trust.This is mixture of wet and dry grassland. It has diverse flowering plants such as southern marsh orchid, common fleabane and ragged robin in wet areas, and yellow rattle and bulbous buttercup in drier ones.There is no public access to the site.

The Shire Hall is a municipal building in Market Hill in Woodbridge, Suffolk, England. The structure, which is the meeting place of Woodbridge Town Council, is a Grade I listed building.

Woodbridge Priory was a small Augustinian priory of canons regular in Woodbridge in the English county of Suffolk. The priory was founded in around 1193 by Ernald Rufus and was dissolved about 1537 during the dissolution of the monasteries. The site was acquired by the Wingfield family before passing to Thomas Seckford in 1564. The priory operated a satellite house at Alnesbourne on the River Orwell until about 1466.Today the site is used by Woodbridge School for its prep school, as part of the Seckford Trust.

Tricker's Mill is a Grade II listed tower mill at Woodbridge, Suffolk, England which has been converted into holiday accommodation.

Melton is a village in Suffolk, England, located approximately one mile northeast of Woodbridge. The 2001 census recorded a population of 3,718, the population increasing to 3,741 at the 2011 Census. The village is served by Melton railway station on the Ipswich-Lowestoft East Suffolk Line. The parish contains 'Woodbridge' Melton, an area of building contiguous with Woodbridge but separated from most of Melton by the wood, 'Village' Melton, centred around the A1152 and A1438, Melton Park or Melton St Audry's, a housing estate converted from an asylum, and various outlying hamlets.Melton was the effective capital of the Liberty of St Etheldreda and housed a gaol and various other buildings.

Seckford Hospital is a grade II* listed former almshouse in Seckford Street, Woodbridge, Suffolk, England. It is of red brick with yellow brick dressings and was built by James Noble in 1840 to a design by Charles Cockerell. Despite its name, Seckford Hospital was never a hospital in the modern sense. Almshouses, providing charitable housing to the poor, were also known as bedehouses, poorhouses or hospitals. Today, as part of Seckford Care, Seckford Hospital provides care and support to older people and continues to be operated by The Seckford Trust founded by Thomas Seckford in the late 16th Century.

Tranmer House is a country house in Sutton Hoo, Woodbridge, Suffolk, England, dating from 1910. The house is located on the Sutton Hoo Anglo-Saxon burial site, and in 1938 was the home of Edith Pretty. In June 1938, Pretty employed Basil Brown to undertake the excavation of a range of burial mounds on the estate, leading to Brown's discovery in May 1939 of a ship burial, "one of the most important archaeological discoveries of all time". The house is now owned by the National Trust.
