Frogner School

The Hartvig Nissen School (Norwegian: Hartvig Nissens skole), informally referred to as Nissen, is a gymnasium in Oslo, Norway. It is located in the neighborhood Uranienborg in the affluent West End borough of Frogner. It is Norway's oldest high school for girls and is widely considered one of the country's two most prestigious high schools alongside the traditionally male-only Oslo Cathedral School; its alumni include many famous individuals and two members of the Norwegian royal family. Originally named Nissen's Girls' School, it was founded by Hartvig Nissen and was originally a private girls' school which was owned by its headmasters and which served the higher bourgeoisie. The school formerly also had its own teachers college. The school and its teachers college have the distinction of being both the first gymnasium and the first higher education institution in Norway which admitted females, and the school and its owners played a key role in promoting female education during the 19th and early 20th century. The school was located at the address Rosenkrantz' Gade 7 from 1849 to 1860 and at the address Øvere Voldgade 15 from 1860 to 1899. Then-owner-headmaster Bernhard Pauss moved the school to its current address, Niels Juels gate 56, and commissioned the construction of the current school building which was completed in 1899. In 1991 the school also acquired the building of its former neighbours Frogner School and Haagaas School at Niels Juels gate 52. The TV series Skam was centered on the school.

The Haagaas School (Norwegian: Haagaas Artiumskursus, informally also Haagaas skole, Haagaas private gymnas or Haagaas' studentfabrikk), or simply Haagaas, was a private gymnasium in Oslo, that existed from 1915 to 1955. It was located in Niels Juels gate 52 at Frogner, in the same building as Frogner School. The school's founder, owner and headmaster until his retirement in 1946 was Theodor Haagaas. The school was a so-called "student factory" (studentfabrikk), offering a fast track to the examen artium (university entrance exam), in the tradition of the Heltberg School of the 19th century. As of 1946, the school had 20 teachers, five classes and 127 students, and was entirely funded by tuition.

Briskeby is an area in the borough Frogner in Oslo, Norway. Originally a rural area in the former municipality Aker, it was incorporated into Christiania city in 1878. It received public transport with the Briskeby Line in 1894.

Bagatelle was a gourmet restaurant in the borough Frogner in Oslo, Norway. Until 2012, it was the only Norwegian restaurant that has held two stars in the Michelin guide. The restaurant lost one of its stars in 2008, though was restored as a two-star restaurant in March 2009. In the 2011 Michelin Guide Bagatelle had zero stars, but regained a star in 2012. The restaurant was formerly led by the chef Eyvind Hellstrøm, and is owned 95% by Christen Sveaas through the Norwegian company AS Holding. Bagatelle lies in Bygdøy Allé 3, and has been situated there since 1932. Originally, the building housed a restaurant run by the family Jacques under the name Jacques Bagatelle. Hellstrøm has run the restaurant in its current form since 1982, until he announced in December 2009 he would be leaving the restaurant due to a long term conflict with Sveaas.The menu is "Norwegian- French cuisine with an emphasis on Norwegian products and modern cooking techniques inspired by developments in France. Bagatelle served the Mauboussin Mega Sundae, which was listed as one of the most expensive ice creams in the world. Bagatelle closed in September 2014 after having operated at a loss for several years.

Solli plass, pronounced /su:li/ or /suli/, /plas/ or /pɽas/, also called Lapsetorvet, is a square in Oslo, Norway, located southwest of Slottsparken and the Royal Palace. The square is elliptical in shape. In the southwest lies the National Library of Norway. Further east are several commercial buildings, and the headquarters of the Federation of Norwegian Commercial and Service Enterprises. In the northwest is found the former building of Oslo Lysverker. There are two public parks in the area, Hydroparken in the west and the tiny Sommerroparken in the north.The name stems from the property Solli, intact from 1716 to 1822. The last owner was Claus Pavels; after him the property was divided. The name Solli plass came to be in 1885.The square is served by a station on the Oslo Tramway—Solli—as well as buses.

Sommerroparken (Sommerro Park), formerly known as Solliparken, is a small park between the streets of Sommerrogata and Henrik Ibsens Gate in the Frogner district of Oslo, Norway. It consists of a narrow grass-covered strip with park benches, ornaments, trees and bushes.

The National Library of Norway (Norwegian: Nasjonalbiblioteket) was established in 1989. Its principal task is "to preserve the past for the future". The library is located both in Oslo and in Mo i Rana. The building in Oslo was restored and reopened in 2005. Prior to the existence of the National Library, the University Library of Oslo was assigned the tasks that normally fall to a national library. The Norwegian ISBN Agency, responsible for assigning ISBNs with prefix 82- and 978-82-, is part of the National Library of Norway. The National Library is also responsible for legal deposits made from publishers in Norway. All material is to be submitted free of charge. Aslak Sira Myhre is national librarian from November 2014.

Solli is a light rail/tram stop on the Oslo Tramway. Located at Solli plass, it was opened by Kristiania Elektriske Sporvei on 2 March 1894 as a part of the first stretch of what would become the Skøyen Line and the Frogner Line. It is served by line 13 and 12. It is a short walk to Inkognitogata (Platforms E and F) served by Line 11 and Lapsetorvet (Platforms C and D) served by bus line 21 (Helsfyr - Tjuvholmen). Solli is also served by bus lines 30 (Bygdøy - Nydalen) and 31 (Snarøya - Fornebu - Tonsenhagen - Grorud T) The National Library of Norway is located nearby, as are the headquarters of the Federation of Norwegian Commercial and Service Enterprises.

Uranienborg church is a parish church in Oslo, Norway.The church is situated in the neighborhood of Uranienborg, next to Uranienborg Park behind the Royal Palace. Both the church and Uranienborg school just below were constructed in 1886. The church was built of brick and was the most expensive of all churches erected within Christiania (now Oslo) at this time. The church was designed by Balthazar Lange who was city architect in Christiania from 1898 to 1920. It was consecrated on 22 December 1886. The building is given a Gothic feel and was decorated with stained glass by the artist Emanuel Vigeland. The church was initially decorated with frescoes by Enevold Thømt, which have since been lost. In 1930 the interior received its present form by architect Arnstein Arneberg. The church has 1020 seats.

Inkognitogata is a tram stop on the Briskeby Line (Briskebylinjen) in Oslo, Norway. Inkognitogata is a street which begins at Uranienborg Road and follows Slottsparken all the way towards the Oslofjord, to Henrik Ibsens gate (formerly Drammensveien). The tram station is situated between Riddervolds plass and Nationaltheatret. It is serviced by line 11, which is served by SL79 trams. It’s also possible to transfer to the stop Solli (Platforms A and B).
