Johnson's Island is a 300-acre (120 ha) island in Sandusky Bay, located on the coast of Lake Erie, 3 miles (4.8 km) from the city of Sandusky, Ohio. It was the site of a prisoner-of-war camp for Confederate officers captured during the American Civil War. Initially, Johnson's Island was the only Union prison exclusively for Confederate officers but eventually held privates, political prisoners, persons sentenced to court martial and spies. Civilians who were arrested as guerrillas, or bushwhackers, were also imprisoned on the island. During its three years of operation, more than 15,000 men were incarcerated there. The island is named after L. B. Johnson, the owner of the island beginning about 1852. It was originally named 'Bull's Island' by its first owner, Epaphras W. Bull, around 1809 (later misspelled "Epaproditus" Bull, by local-historians).

Benajah Wolcott House (Keeper's House) is a stone structure on the Danbury-Marblehead Peninsula, north of Sandusky Bay near Marblehead, Ohio. It is the oldest surviving home in Ottawa County. Historians believe it may have been the family home of the Wolcott family during the 1820s. It should not be confused with the wooden lighthouse keeper's house adjacent to the Marblehead Light, built in 1880.

Danbury Township is one of the twelve townships of Ottawa County, Ohio, United States. The 2000 census found 4,631 people in the township, 3,869 of whom lived in the unincorporated portions of the township.

Danbury High School (formerly Lakeside High School) is a public high school in Lakeside, Ohio. It is the only high school in the Danbury Local Schools district. Their mascot is the Lakers. Danbury is noted to be a small successful high school due to its reduced class size of around 25-40 students per graduating class.

No. 5 Fire Station in Sandusky, Ohio, was built in 1906. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.It was one of four fire stations built of cut limestone in Sandusky which held horse-drawn equipment. It is a two-story building with a hipped gable roof.

Holy Angels Church is the oldest extant church building in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Toledo and Erie County, Ohio. The stone Gothic Revival style church is located on West Jefferson Street at Tiffin Avenue and Clinton Street in Sandusky, Ohio. It was built in 1841 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

The Engine House No. 1 in Sandusky, Ohio was built in 1915. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.It is a two-and-a-half-story limestone building. It has two square towers, at its northeast and southeast corners. It is Greco-Egyptian-Functional in style.

The John Mertz House at 610 W. Washington St. in Sandusky, Ohio was built in 1909. It was designed and/or built by George Feick. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1992.The connection from the Feick family was by marriage of John Mertz to Ida Elizabeth Feick, who was born in Sandusky in 1863 to Adam Feick.

Bay View is a village in Erie County, Ohio, United States. The population was 608 at the 2020 census. It is part of the Sandusky, Ohio Metropolitan Statistical Area. The village consists primarily of summer homes (many converted to year-round use) and a few small businesses. The community lies on the shores of the Sandusky Bay. The village was incorporated in 1951.

The former Odd Fellows Hall, located at 231 West Washington Row in Sandusky, Ohio, in the United States, is an historic building built in 1889 by members of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. It is also known as the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Temple. On May 1, 2003, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places.
