The Swiss Museum of Transport or Verkehrshaus der Schweiz (literally "Transportation House of Switzerland") in Lucerne opened in July 1959 and exhibits all forms of transport including trains, automobiles, ships and aircraft as well as communication technology. It is Switzerland's most popular museum. The museum also maintains a large collection of work by Hans Erni, a local painter and sculptor. There are several other attractions in the museum besides the collection, including a planetarium, a large-format cinema and a 1:20,000 scale aerial photograph of Switzerland.

Luzern Verkehrshaus railway station (German: Bahnhof Luzern Verkehrshaus) is a railway station in the city of Lucerne, in the Swiss canton of Lucerne. It is an intermediate stop on the standard gauge Lucerne–Immensee line of Swiss Federal Railways. The station is directly adjacent to the Swiss Museum of Transport. Connections to the Lake Lucerne Navigation Company's ferries on Lake Lucerne are available at the Verkehrshaus-Lido landing stage on the other side of the museum from the station.The station was opened in 2007. Previously a service station "Würzenbach" was located there.

Verkehrshaus-Lido landing stage is a landing stage in the city of Lucerne, Switzerland. It is located on Lake Lucerne, across the bay from main part of Lucerne. It is served by the Lake Lucerne Navigation Company. The port is adjacent to the Swiss Museum of Transport (German: Verkehrshaus der Schweiz); rail connections are available at Luzern Verkehrshaus railway station, on the far side of the museum.

The Richard Wagner Museum is a cultural site in Lucerne, Switzerland, situated on the shore of Lake Lucerne in the district of Tribschen. The composer Richard Wagner lived here from 1866 to 1872; in 1933 it was opened as a museum.

Tribschen (also seen as Triebschen) is a district of the city of Lucerne, in the Canton of Lucerne in central Switzerland. Tribschen is best known today as the home of the German composer Richard Wagner from 30 March 1866 to 22 April 1872. When Wagner was obliged to leave Munich in March 1866, he moved to a spacious villa in Tribschen on a headland projecting into Lake Lucerne. It was while he was living here that Wagner completed the score of Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, composed his "Emperor March" and the third act of Siegfried, and began Götterdämmerung. It was also at Tribschen that he composed his Siegfried Idyll as a birthday gift to his second wife, Cosima, who had recently given birth to the couple's first legitimate child, a son named Siegfried. The couple had had two children while Cosima was married to conductor Hans von Bülow. The Siegfried Idyll was performed for the first time on Christmas morning, 25 December 1870, by an ensemble of fifteen players (among them Richter, Ruhoff, Rauchenecker and Kahl) on the stairs of the villa. It was a birthday present for Cosima; she had turned 33 the previous day, 24 December, but she always celebrated her birthday on Christmas Day. One of the guests present at this performance was the newly appointed 24-year-old professor of classical philology at the University of Basel, Friedrich Nietzsche.Today the villa is the Richard Wagner Museum.

Standseilbahn Hotel Montana is a funicular in Lucerne, Switzerland. It leads from Haldenstrasse at the shore of Lake Lucerne to the entrance of Hotel Montana at Adligenswilerstrasse. The installation has a single-car and a counterweight. It runs for a length of 85 m and a difference of elevation of 38 m. The average incline is 50%. Intermediate stops provide access to the premises of SHL Schweizerische Hotelfachschule Luzern. First built in 1910 as an inclined elevator for hotel guests, a concession was sought from the Swiss Federal Assembly to open it to the public in 1913. Caritas Switzerland (German: Caritas Schweiz, French: Caritas Suisse, Italian: Caritas Svizzra, Romansh: Caritas Svizra) is a Swiss Catholic not-for-profit organisation. Its mission is to prevent, combat and alleviate poverty. It is a member of both Caritas Europa and Caritas Internationalis.

The Church of St. Leodegar (German: St. Leodegar im Hof or Hofkirche St. Leodegar) is a Roman Catholic church in the city of Lucerne, Switzerland. It was built in parts from 1633 to 1639 on the foundation of the Roman basilica, begun in 735, which had burnt in 1633. This church was one of the few built north of the Alps during the Thirty Years War and one of the largest art history rich churches of the German late renaissance period.

The University of Lucerne (UNILU; German: Universität Luzern) is a public university with a campus in Lucerne, Switzerland. 1,460 undergraduates and 1,258 postgraduate students attend the university, which makes it Switzerland's smallest university. Despite its size, it holds an international reputation in several areas. For instance, the Institute for Jewish-Christian Research has acquired renown despite its ban on hiring Jewish faculty. The university evolved over time: Since the early 17th century, courses in philosophy and theology have been taught in the city. The faculty of Theology was established in 1938, whereas the department of history was founded on 1 August 1989. In 1993, the faculty of humanities was established. After a popular vote, the University of Lucerne was established in 2000.

The Culture and Congress Centre in Lucerne (or KKL for Kultur- und Kongresszentrum Luzern) is a multi-functional building with a concert hall that is esteemed for its high-profile acoustics. It was built according to the plans of the architect Jean Nouvel and was inaugurated in 1998 with a concert by the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Claudio Abbado.

Kunstmuseum Luzern (Museum of Art Lucerne), is an art museum founded in 1932, and is located within the Lucerne Culture and Congress Centre (or KKL Luzern). It is one of the most important art museums in Switzerland known for its temporary rotating exhibitions of all genres, including contemporary art.

Meggenhorn Castle (German: Schloss Meggenhorn) is a castle in Meggen near the Swiss city of Lucerne. It was built in 1868/70 by Edouad Hofer-Grosjean from Mulhouse and in 1926 equipped with a Welte Philharmonic Organ. It is surrounded by vineyards and is considered to be the municipality's symbol. Today, it is mostly used as a tourist attraction and reception venue. It is a Swiss heritage site of national significance.Meggenhorn is served by a landing stage on Lake Lucerne that is some 400 metres (1,300 ft) walk from the castle. On weekends and some other days, the Lake Lucerne Navigation Company (German: Schifffahrtsgesellschaft des Vierwaldstättersees) operate several return sailings between the Bahnhofquai, adjacent to Lucerne station, and Meggenhorn.
