Saint Francis Church, in Fort Kochi (Fort Cochin), Kochi, originally built in 1503, is one of the oldest European churches in India and has great historical significance as a mute witness to the European colonial struggle in the subcontinent. The Portuguese explorer Vasco da Gama died in Kochi in 1524 when he was on his third visit to India. His body was originally buried in this church, but after fourteen years his remains were moved to Lisbon and now located at Jerónimos Monastery.

Vasco House is a notable tourist site located in Fort Kochi, in the South India state of Kerala. It is one of the oldest Portuguese residences in Fort Kochi. The house is believed to have been the residence of Vasco da Gama, which was constructed in the first half of the sixteenth century. Vasco House has stark white walls, a Prussian blue glass pane windows and a balcony cum verandahs of the traditional European style of that era.There is no documentary or other proof that the renowned explorer Vasco da Gama resided there, except from a picture of him that stands out among other wall hangings and photos in the house. It is located behind St. Francis Church at the intersection of Rose and Ridsdale Street, and is one of the most photographed buildings in Fort Kochi. Vasco House has become a popular filming location of Malayalam movies since it appeared in the 2007 Malayalam film Big B, starring Mammootty.

Santa Cruz Higher Secondary School was established in 1888. It currently has higher secondary level status. It is one of the oldest schools in Kerala. The school is located near the Fort Kochi Beach and Santa Cruz basilica. This school is under Roman Catholic Diocese of Cochin.

St. John De Britto Anglo-Indian High School is a secondary school in Fort Cochin, Kerala, India. The school is named after John de Britto, a 17th-century Portuguese Jesuit missionary and martyr. The school started operation in the year 1945 and celebrated its Silver Jubilee in the year 1970

Old Harbour House is a building in the center of Fort Kochi, part of the city of Kochi (formerly known as Cochin) in the district of Ernakulam in the state of Kerala (India). It was built during the Portuguese colonial period, almost completely rebuilt by the Dutch in the 17th century, and later modified by the British. In 2006, it was carefully restored by German architect Karl Damschen with many references to its colonial origins. Today the building contains the boutique hotel Old Harbour Hotel.

The Diocese of Cochin (Latin: Dioecesis Coccinensis) is a Latin Church ecclesiastical jurisdiction or diocese of the Catholic Church in the city of Cochin, India. It is a suffragan in the ecclesiastical province of the metropolitan Archdiocese of Verapoly. The diocese serves Latin Catholics of Malabar. The territory of the Diocese of Cochin covers 235 square kilometers in the state of Kerala. It is situated between the Arabian Sea in the west, the Archdiocese of Verapoly in the north and in the east, and the Diocese of Alleppey in the south. The diocese's cathedral church and cathedral of the Bishop of Cochin is Santa Cruz Basilica, Fort Cochin. The current bishop is Joseph Kariyil, appointed by Pope Benedict XVI on 8 May 2009.

The Santa Cruz Cathedral Basilica (also known as കോട്ട പള്ളി / Kotta Palli) at Fort Kochi, Kochi, is one of the nine basilicas in Kerala. Counted as one of the heritage edifices of Kerala, this church is one of the finest and most impressive churches in India and visited by tourists the whole year round. It is a place of devotion as well as a center of historic significance, endowed with architectural and artistic grandeur and colours of the gothic style. The basilica serves as the cathedral church of the Diocese of Cochin. It was built originally by the Portuguese and elevated to a cathedral by Pope Paul IV in 1558, was spared by the Dutch conquerors who destroyed many Catholic buildings. Later the British demolished the structure and João Gomes Ferreira commissioned a new building in 1887. Consecrated in 1905, Santa Cruz was proclaimed a basilica by Pope John Paul II in 1984.

Fort Kochi, Fort Cochin in English, Cochim de Baixo ("Lower Kochi") in Cochin Portuguese creole, is a neighbourhood of Cochin (Kochi) city in Kerala, India. Fort Kochi takes its name from the Fort Manuel of Cochin, the first European fort on Indian soil, controlled by the Portuguese East Indies. This is part of a handful of water-bound islands and islets toward the south-west of the mainland Kochi, and collectively known as Old Cochin or West Cochin. Adjacent to this is the locality of Mattancherry. In 1967, these three municipalities along with a few adjoining areas, were amalgamated to form the Kochi Municipal Corporation.

Church of Our Lady of Hope ( Malayalam: പ്രത്യാശമാതാ ദേവാലയം, Cochin Portuguese: Igreja de Nossa Senhora da Esperança ) is a Latin Church parish in the Diocese of Cochin. It is located at Fort Vypin in the island of Vypeen, the point where the Vembanad Lake merges with the Arabian Sea, with Fort Cochin on the other side. The church, with an area of 10 km2 (3.9 sq mi), occupies the southern end of Vypeen Island. Ministering to Latin Catholics of Malabar, its liturgies are according to the Roman Rite of the Catholic Church. The patron of the church is Our Lady of Hope a form in which Virgin mary is venerated as the patron of Fishermen and navigators, pointing to why the emblem of church is an anchor. It happens to be one of the oldest churches in Kochi, built by the Portuguese in 1605 A.D. It is part of Diocese of Cochin A significant Anglo Indian population is found within the parish's borders. The church is home to the famous statue of Ecce Homo, meaning 'Behold the man' (Malayalam: കൈകെട്ടിയ രൂപം ) a statue of our lord in chains and is kept for public veneration on the fourth Sunday of lent every year. Established in the year 1605, the Parish of Our Lady of Hope, had the fortune to celebrate her quadric-centennial celebrations in the year 2005. The parish has about 455 families and more than 2,100 parishioners. The faithful are grouped into 14 Family Units. Not at all scarce in the number of lay associations, the parish has the fortune to celebrate several feasts every year. With the ideal supervision and active participation of the parochial shepherds and encouraging and inspiring presence of the Congregation of the Canossian Sisters of Charity, the Parish of Our Lady of Hope is moving ahead.
