KXNO's studios are located in Des Moines, while its 3-tower transmitter array is located on Northeast Broadway Avenue near Capitol Heights. KXNO is simulcast on 25,000 watt sister station 106.3 KXNO-FM in Ankeny, Iowa.

The Larnerd Case House, also known as Rose Hill, is a historic building located in Des Moines, Iowa, United States. This two-story, frame, Greek Revival structure is the oldest dwelling that is still standing in the city. The second floor dormer and the front porch are not original to the house. This section of Iowa was opened for settlement in 1845 after a treaty with the Sauk and Meskwaki (Fox) tribes. Larnerd Case, an Ohio native, built this house using black walnut cut from the property in 1846. He lived on what was then a 160-acre (65 ha) farm until his death in 1857. The residential area that surrounds the house and the park across the street were once part of the farm. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

Grandview Park Baptist School was a school located on the east side of Des Moines, Iowa, in the United States which offered a traditional style of education. It was a private school serving the community and affiliated with the adjacent Grandview Park Baptist Church on the east side of Des Moines. The school began classes in 1972 with 78 students in grades K-6. The school quickly grew to over 530 students in grades K-12. Bible courses were taught at every level of the school and a Biblical world view was instructed throughout each subject & course. The school also had a noted drama program which produced quality plays and presentations each year open to the public.

KJMC (89.3 FM) is a non-commercial educational radio station serving the Des Moines, Iowa area with an Urban Adult Contemporary format. KJMC is owned by Minority Communications, Inc. The station was originally licensed as KLNQ on November 2, 1998, replacing KUCB-FM after Minority Communications successfully challenged its license in a seven-year battle. It changed its callsign to KJMC on March 1, 1999, when it launched. KJMC is the Des Moines market affiliate for the Tom Joyner Morning Show and the D. L. Hughley Show. Since KJMC is a non-commercial station, the national commercials are replaced with music, public service announcements and underwriting announcements from local businesses.

The Saydel Community School District is a rural public school district with its headquarters in unincorporated Polk County, Iowa.The district, entirely in Polk County, serves portions of Des Moines and Ankeny. It also serves a portion of the Saylorville census-designated place.Within the district are three schools: one elementary school, a middle school, and one high school. District offices are located next to Woodside Middle School.

The Fish and Game Pavilion and Aquarium is located in the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines, Iowa, United States. The structure was erected with financial support from the State of Iowa. It was designed by the Des Moines architectural firm of Proudfoot, Rawson & Souers. It is a masonry building with a steel frame structural system and exhibits eclectic, Italian Renaissance detail. It was originally built from 1926 to 1927 and was expanded in 1929. The building was listed as a contributing property on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987 as a part of the Iowa State Fair and Exposition Grounds and it was individually listed in 1991 as a part of the Conservation Movement in Iowa MPS.

KGVC-LP (94.1 FM, "Flashback 94") was a radio station licensed to Des Moines, Iowa, United States, and serves the Grand View University area. The station was owned by Grand View University. Prior to its 2007 launch, Grand View College students broadcast by leasing time over KDPS (88.1 FM).The university surrendered KGVC-LP's license to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) on March 13, 2015; the FCC cancelled the license the same day. KGVC-LP's leaving the air allowed KDRA-LP to go full-time on 94.1 FM; KDRA-LP itself shut down in 2019.

The Iowa State Fair is an annual state fair held in Des Moines, Iowa in August. It began in 1854 and has been held on the Iowa State Fairgrounds since 1886. It is based in the state capital Des Moines, Iowa over an 11 day period in August. With over a million visitors, it is one of the largest and best known state fairs in the United States.
