Brinsop

Brinsop and Wormsley is a civil parish in the county of Herefordshire, England. It includes the largely depopulated village settlements of Brinsop and Wormsley, and is approximately 6 miles (10 km) north-west from the city and county town of Hereford. The parish includes the Church of St George and Brinsop Court, both Grade I listed.

Brinsop Court, Brinsop, Herefordshire, England is a manor house dating from the 14th century. The house was much extended in the 16th and 17th centuries, and reconstructed in the early 20th century by Henry Avray Tipping. Brinsop contains many period features including fireplaces, ceilings and wooden panelling. The house is surrounded by lawns, encircled by a moat and stands within an 800-acre estate. It remains privately owned and is now primarily used as an events venue.

Kenchester is a parish in Herefordshire, England. It is about 5.5 miles (9 km) west-northwest of Hereford. Kenchester is near the Romano-British town of Magnis, and was once part of the Angles' Magonsæte kingdom. The Church of St Michael is a Grade I listed building.

Magnae, sometimes Magnae Dobunnorum (Latin for "The Greats of the Dobunni") to distinguish it from the Magnae of the Carvetii on Hadrian's Wall in northern Britain, was a Romano-British town and an important market centre for the British Dobunni tribe, located near modern-day Kenchester in Herefordshire, England. The town was shaped as an irregular hexagon, with a single main street along the line of the main Roman Road running east–west through the area, and an irregular pattern of side streets with tightly packed buildings leading off it.

Credenhill railway station first opened on 30 June 1863 and finally closed by the Western Region of British Railways on 31 December 1962. The site is now used for Credenhill's Sports and Social Club, owned by the local council.

Mansel Lacy (alternatively spelled Mansell Lacy) is a small village and civil parish in Herefordshire, England. It is 7 miles (11 km) north west of Hereford, close to the A480 road. The population of the parish at the 2011 Census was 139.The church of St Michael and All Angels dates from between the 11th and 13th centuries.Mansel Lacy was the overall winner of Herefordshire in the 2008 Calor Village of the Year competition.

The Weir Garden is a National Trust property near Swainshill (see Stretton Sugwas), Herefordshire, lying alongside the River Wye 5 mi (8.0 km) west of Hereford on the A438 road.The garden covers 10 acres (4 hectares), and was the creation of its prior owner, Roger Parr, and his head gardener, William Boulter. The adjoining house is used as a nursing home and is not open to the public.The south-facing aspect of the garden allows for a wide variety of plantings, and this, combined with the riverside, attracts a notable variety of wildlife. Notable birds include blackcaps, mute swans, kingfishers, goosanders and in summer, sand martins, whilst teal often over-winter here. There are also a great many insects, including the rare club-tailed dragonfly, banded demoiselle damselflies and white-legged damselflies, as well as a range of butterflies, hoverflies and crickets.The ruins of a Roman temple possibly associated with a high-status Roman villa, which may have connections to the nearby Roman town of Magnis, lie inside the Weir Garden by the River Wye. There is an octagonal cistern filled by a spring and a ruined buttress by the river. These are the highest standing Roman ruins in Herefordshire.As of August 2023, the property is open from 10:30 to 16:30, every day until 5 November and then from 10:30 to 16:00 on weekends, except Christmas Eve, for the rest of the year.

The Killing House, a shoot house, is the Special Air Service's prime training facility for hostage rescue operations. The point of the Killing House is to train the SAS operatives to enter a room and be able to assess the situation and shoot any threats. The Counter-Terrorism team of SAS uses it for Close Quarter Battle training (CQB).The Killing House is located at the Stirling Lines barracks, near Hereford. It is a two storey building with four rooms on each level. It is designed just like a conventional building, with furniture, pictures, toilets, etc. The building has special rubber-coated walls to absorb bullets, extractor fans to clear out fumes, and video cameras in corners to record the action in the rooms. Each room has at least one metal target. The idea of the Killing House has been adopted by other elite units, including America's Delta Force, the FBI, Israeli special forces, FSK (of Norway).

RAF Credenhill, also known as RAF Hereford, was a non-flying station of the Royal Air Force situated in the village of Credenhill near Hereford, England, United Kingdom. It was commissioned in 1940 and served as home for a range of training schools from 1940 until closure in 1994. The site was subsequently obtained by the British Army.

Stirling Lines is a British Army garrison in Credenhill, Herefordshire; the headquarters of the 22 Special Air Service Regiment (22 SAS) and the Special Reconnaissance Regiment (SRR). The site was formerly a Royal Air Force (RAF) non-flying station for training schools, known as RAF Credenhill.

Bishopstone is a village and civil parish in Herefordshire, England, 10 km (6.2 mi) west of Hereford, near the River Wye and the Roman town of Magnis. According to the 2001 census, it had a population of 199, increasing to 208 at the 2011 census.
