Rhein-Mosel

Untermosel is a former Verbandsgemeinde ("collective municipality") in the district Mayen-Koblenz, in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It is situated along the lower course of the river Mosel, south-west of Koblenz. The seat of the municipality was in Kobern-Gondorf. On 1 July 2014 it merged into the new Verbandsgemeinde Rhein-Mosel. The Verbandsgemeinde Untermosel consisted of the following Ortsgemeinden ("local municipalities"): Alken Brodenbach Burgen Dieblich Hatzenport Kobern-Gondorf Lehmen Löf Macken Niederfell Nörtershausen Oberfell Winningen Wolken

Kobern-Gondorf is a municipality in the district of Mayen-Koblenz in Rhineland-Palatinate, western Germany. It is the seat of the Verbandsgemeinde Rhein-Mosel. Above the village are the two castles of Niederburg and Oberburg.

The Niederburg ("Lower Castle") at Kobern, also called the Niedernburg, Unterburg or Neue Burg, is a hill castle above the municipality of Kobern-Gondorf in the county of Mayen-Koblenz in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate.

Niederfell is a small town located in the municipal association of Rhein-Mosel, which is within the rural district of Mayen-Koblenz, in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate, near the country's western border. It is located across the Mosel River from the small town of Gondorf, about 17 kilometres (11 mi) from the city of Koblenz. This town has existed for over a thousand years. A document that was prepared under the Archbishop Poppo describes donations to the Abbey of Saint Mary in the year 1030 A.D., and Niederfell is mentioned in that document (the Abbey of St. Mary was located at what is now called the Exzellenzhaus in Trier). That document also refers to an older document of Archbishop Egbertus from the year 980 A.D., and accordingly Niederfell celebrated its 1000th anniversary in 1980.In the early 1600s, during the Thirty Years War, this town was repeatedly destroyed, and therefore no medieval buildings still exist there. The town's population has been fairly stable since 1950, at about one thousand people.

Oberfell is a municipality in the district of Mayen-Koblenz in Rhineland-Palatinate, western Germany.

The Goloring is an ancient earthworks monument located near Koblenz, Germany. It was created in the Bronze Age era, which dates back to the Urnfield culture (1200–800 BCE.). During this time a widespread solar cult is believed to have existed in Central Europe. The Goloring consists of a circular ditch of 175 metres in diameter with an outside embankment extending to 190 metres. Technically this makes the structure a henge monument, although the use of the term henge outside of Britain is sometimes disputed. The outside embankment is approx. 7 metres wide and 80 cm high. The ditch has an upper width of 5–6 metres and is approx. 80 cm deep. In the interior one can find a roughly circular leveled platform, which is about elevated by about 1 metre. The platform has been created based on piled gravelled rock and has a diameter of 95 metres. Remnants of a 50 cm thick wooden post with an estimated height of 8–12 metres were excavated in the middle of this platform. The design of the ditch is unique in Germany, and makes the earthworks similar to many British monuments of the same era. It is often compared to Stonehenge in England, which has similar diametric proportions.

The Moselle Viaduct (German: Moseltalbrücke) carries the Bundesautobahn 61 over a meander of the river Moselle, connecting the Hunsrück and Eifel mountain ranges. It was built between 1969 and 1972 between the German villages Winningen and Dieblich, about 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) southwest of Koblenz, where the river Moselle flows into the river Rhine. Moselle Viaduct is also the name of the 1974 bridge where Bundesautobahn 1 between Wittlich and Trier crosses the river Moselle near Schweich.
