Linganore-Bartonsville was a census-designated place (CDP) in Frederick County, Maryland, United States, for the 2000 census, at which time its population was 12,529. For the 2010 census the area was split into three CDPs: Linganore, Bartonsville, and Spring Ridge.

The Linganore Farm is a historic home and farm complex located at Frederick, Frederick County, Maryland, United States. The main house is a large two-story brick dwelling dating from the 1850s-60s and showing influence of the Greek Revival and Italianate styles. The property includes the ruins of a brick smokehouse, a stone root cellar and a two-story brick secondary house dating from the early 19th century. Across from the house is the site of the Linganore Mill, which was located on the east bank of the Monocacy River. In front of the house is a terraced lawn defined with large boxwoods. In 1891, the farm was converted to a resort known as the Linganore Hills Inn.The Linganore Farm was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000.

Lake Linganore is a community in Frederick County, in the U.S. state of Maryland, located just outside New Market. The community consists of "villages" which are essentially neighborhoods. The community of villages is centered on a system of lakes, the centerpiece of which is Lake Linganore, a 210-acre (85 ha) reservoir built on Linganore Creek, and the largest privately owned lake in the state. The community has its own newspaper, Lake Talk, which includes articles on local topics. The Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research (FNLCR) is a United States federally funded research and development center (FFRDC) supported by the National Cancer Institute and managed by the private contractor Leidos Biomedical Research. Carroll Creek is an 8.3-mile-long (13.4 km) tributary of the Monocacy River in Frederick County, Maryland. The headwaters of the creek are located on the eastern slopes of Catoctin Mountain, southeast of Gambrill State Park. The stream runs roughly east through the city of Frederick to the Monocacy, which drains to the Potomac River. The Shawnee Indians, who called the Monocacy River Monnockkesey (which translates as “river with many bends”), named Carroll Creek Walkwaki Methtegui, (which translates as "down in the gully creek"). The creek was named after Charles Carroll of Carrollton, a Founding Father of the United States who owned large amounts of land in Frederick County. Following two devastating floods in the mid-70s, the City of Frederick undertook an ambitious flood control project to protect its historic downtown from future damage. The innovative design called for the installation of an underground system of concrete conduits able to convey storm-water safely through downtown Frederick. The project’s ground-level elements allowed the development of a new Linear Park.

The Beatty-Cramer House was built near Israels Creek in Frederick County, Maryland, circa 1748. The oldest house in Frederick County, it is an unusual example of Dutch-influenced construction practices, more typically found in the Hudson Valley. It is the only known example of mixed Dutch, English and American framing and construction methods in Maryland.

Ijamsville ( EYE-əmz-vil) is an unincorporated community located 7 miles (11 km) southeast of Frederick, in Frederick County, Maryland, United States. The town was founded by Plummer Ijams, a descendant of Welsh immigrants, from whom the town took its name. The discovery of high-quality slate in the area led to Ijamsville's brief era as a mining town, which lasted until it transitioned to agriculture in the mid-1800s. In the mid-to-late 20th century, large quantities of land in Ijamsville were purchased by developers, and the town became primarily residential as a suburb of Frederick, Baltimore, and D.C.
