Linganore is a census-designated place (CDP) in Frederick County, in the U.S. state of Maryland. It consists of the area around Lake Linganore, a residential community governed by a homeowners association, located east of the city of Frederick. As of the 2020 census the CDP had a population of 12,351. Prior to 2010, the area was part of the Linganore-Bartonsville CDP. The mailing address for the area is Lake Linganore, with a ZIP code of 21774.

Lake Linganore is a community in Frederick County, in the U.S. state of Maryland, located just outside New Market. The community consists of "villages" which are essentially neighborhoods. The community of villages is centered on a system of lakes, the centerpiece of which is Lake Linganore, a 210-acre (85 ha) reservoir built on Linganore Creek, and the largest privately owned lake in the state. The Linganore Farm is a historic home and farm complex located at Frederick, Frederick County, Maryland, United States. The main house is a large two-story brick dwelling dating from the 1850s-60s and showing influence of the Greek Revival and Italianate styles. The property includes the ruins of a brick smokehouse, a stone root cellar and a two-story brick secondary house dating from the early 19th century. Across from the house is the site of the Linganore Mill, which was located on the east bank of the Monocacy River. In front of the house is a terraced lawn defined with large boxwoods. In 1891, the farm was converted to a resort known as the Linganore Hills Inn.The Linganore Farm was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000.

It is a 2+1⁄2-story, coursed stone rubble house built in about 1800, with a gable roof, and a corbeled brick cornice. Outbuildings include a barn, log springhouse, and a small log house.The Henry Nelson House was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.

The town was founded by Plummer Ijams, a descendant of Welsh immigrants, from whom the town took its name. The discovery of high-quality slate in the area led to Ijamsville's brief era as a mining town, which lasted until it transitioned to agriculture in the mid-1800s. In the mid-to-late 20th century, large quantities of land in Ijamsville were purchased by developers, and the town became primarily residential as a suburb of Frederick, Baltimore, and D.C.
